A COUPLE PAGES OF THIS THREAD WERE DELETED BY PHIL BY ACCIDENT!
Basically you just post a short review about whatever movie you just watched. No need for a number rating if you dont feel like giving one.

War of the Worlds

dude.... we get 10 minutes of back story to know the characters and then we get right into the invasion. they didnt waste any time and i loved it. it was action packed and the aliens were cool as shit. go see it, good summer flick.

Ed Wood

A Tim Burton movie that I never saw so I bought it.
Its pretty good, interesting story and some funny parts but not a classic like so many other Burton movies.

From what I've seen of (like half of it) Ed Wood is thought it was awesome. Depp is at his absolute best in that one.

yeah its good and Depp is awesome in it but it doesnt have that spark that makes Pee Wee, Batman, or even Edward Scissorhands a type of movie loved by all and remembered forever.

As for Burton movies, his newest, Big Fish, is phenomenal.

I have just seen Ed Wood for first time and it was great. the story of this ridiculous director is awesome i would give it a 7/10. as for other movies i've watched lately ( i watch like 3 movies a day considering i dont have a job) The Sting from 1973 was really good. Old movies ususally are pretty slow and boring but this one was awesome with twists and surprises it definitely deserved the 7 academy awards it won. robert redford is the man in it and i give it a 8/10.

I just saw War of the Worlds last night I gotta say, it was awesome. I kept reading reviews about how the last 20 minutes of the film sucked. I wasn't even aware of the last 20 minutes as I felt they were as amazing as the first 100. Yeah, there's a few things in there that are unbelievable, but then again, that entire movie is unbelievable.

Anyway it was probably the best Spielberg has done since Jurassic Park, and I actually found many parallels between the two films. Anyway, I don't feel like writing to much about it, but it didn't dissapoint, special effects finally felt special again, and it was such a joy to watch. There were plenty of heart pouding, seat clentching sequences. I highly reccommend it. 9/10

Went to Blockbuster and rented the new Wes Craven flick "Cursed", but it actually turned out to be the "Worst"! Don't waist your time or your money if you're looking for a genuine scary movie. Just thought I'd give you the heads up. Christina Ricci is kinda hot though.

War of the worlds: 10/10 (one of the best movies I've ever seen)

*Possible Spoiler*
Yeah dude, I enjoyed War of the Worlds. Tom Cruise was a hero. I knew how it was going to end since I read the book like ages ago. I kinda didn't like the ending to the book / movie since I thought it was kind of cheesy. Tom Cruise's kid deserved to die and so did his ex-wife and family. Oh well. The special effects were awesome. I still enjoyed the movie though. 8/10

Land of the Dead
I like zombie movies but this one just didnt do it for me. The zombies get smart and have a leader (the black zombie from the trailer). They communicate and use weapons. It just seemed kinda cheesy.

American Psycho
One of those weird movies that I love. For the longest time, I thought the ending meant something else than what it actually did. Its one of those movies that make you wanna read the book to see if it reveals anymore. But I dont read so that wont happen.

Dawn of the Dead
A GREAT zombie movie. Thats all I have to say. Perfectly done. Oh yeah except for the zombie baby.

Bewitched

The only good scenes were when Will Ferrell was freaking out or under a spell. I wouldnt buy it on DVD unless somehow it gets funnier when I see it again like Envy did. And I would only watch it again if it was on a movie channel.

The only way Bewitched could have been any good is that as soon as the movie starts, Nicole Kidman shows it all for about 10 minutes, and then the movie ends.

The Garbage Pail Kids Movie
I bought this because it was a classic from my childhood. Let me tell you, this movie hasnt held up well over the years. I used to love it and now I watch it and think WOW.... this is bad. Its a good cult classic for the collection though.

American Splendor
Paul Giamatti at his finest as a miserable, self hating, loser. Its a pretty unique and cool movie. I just watched it last night, its on HBO On Demand I think.

Steve-O - The Early Years
Dude I dont usually like Steve-O but my brother downloaded this and I watched it. Its pretty nuts. Steve-O would have been awesome to hang out with in college. He seriously is out of his mind and I cant believe some of the shit he did before he was even on TV or anything.

This is the movie about the comic book writer, right? I tried to watch this the other night and was kind of getting into it and then Demi cries out "boring" and then after that I probably turned on Cartoon Network and watched yet another awful episode of Teen Titans.

yeah it is.
Harvey Pekar, true story.
At first I wasnt really digging it, and it kinda was a tad boring but then it started getting really interesting. Its cool how they mix the movie scenes in with the guys real life. Especially the Letterman clips closer to the end.

Million Dollar Baby
awesome movie, good story and surprising ending.
clint eastwood is the man when it comes to directing. he goes from the kick ass mystic river to this. 2 totally different movies but both awesome. the ending of this movie is pretty shocking.
its a shame i knew what was going to happen because someone spoiled it for me but it didnt really matter, i still loved it.

Charlie & The Chocolate Factory

Tim Burton does it again. As a remake, its a cool movie that holds up to most of the themes from the original. But as a stand alone movie when not even comparing to the original its awesome. Burton gives a little more story for Wonka and Charlie's family. And as usual he shows some great visuals. People might be upset that the Oompa Loompa songs arent the same but why would you want the same exact movie. Instead of Oompa Loompa Doompity Doo blah blah blah, you get some funny purposely overproduced masterpieces.
I suggest everyone check it out because Burton rarely disappoints...

oh yeah I forget to mention the man, the myth, the LEGEND.... Johnny Depp. He carries this movie to awesomeness.

Yeah dude, I give Charlie and the Chocolate Factory a 8/10. It was pretty good, and funny. Johnny Depp did a great job as well. It seems to me like Tim Burton likes to the cast same people in all his movies. This new movie Corpse Bride is coming out and it has Johnny Depp, Helena Boham Carter, and Christopher Lee in it, all who are in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Helena Boham Carter has been in a lot of Tim Burton movies I just realized.. Missi Pyle was in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as well and she was in Big Fish too. I started watching that last night but I didn't get to finish it.

I finally saw Big Fish last night and it was great. The oompa loompa guy was in it too. I give it a 9 / 10. I think this movie teaches us that it doesn't matter who you are or where you come from. If you have a dream and work hard in life, you can achieve anything. There's a great big world out there and you just have to go out there and live it. The movie really tugged at the heart.

Oh, and Jeff, I took 24 from your house on Friday. I'm going to start watching that soon and I'll have to see how good it really is.

The Wedding Crashers (10/10)

Funniest movie of the Summer and probably the funniest all year. Just go see it and love it. Vince Vaughn is so god damn funny.

it was a perfect comedy. it did everything it set out to do. you cant make a comedy any better than this and like many people have said so far, this might be the funniest movie of all time. wilson and vaughn were genius. walken is funny even when he talks seriously. oh man, i have to see it again, i havent laughed that much at a movie in a while.

Dark Water

I had high hopes since it was the writer of The Ring. I thought it would be a good horror/thriller movie but I was wrong.
First of all, the story doesnt start picking up until about 50 minutes into it. Thats a long way to wait to get to any action. Take a page out of the book of War of the Worlds, action starts in about 10 minutes and continues throughout. Now I now Dark Water isnt an action movie but at least they could have dropped some suspense or horror before the 45-50 minute mark.
Other than that, the rating goes down because the story made no sense really. Those Japs really believe in spirits and shit and it seems like every story (The Ring, The Grudge, Dark Water) is about some tragedy that happens and ghosts or spirits being left on Earth. Think of something new!!

Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas

really hard to follow. basically its a 2 hour drug binge that gets outta control. Johnny Depp plays the late Hunter S Thompson based on one of Thompsons novels and created into a movie by Monty Python's Terry Gilliam. its actually really cool and pretty funny. Benicio Del Toro has some hilarious parts in it. Its a weird movie but then again most drug movies are pretty frickin weird. if you're not in the mood to watch a movie then you will lose interest because this flick is all over the map throughout the 2 hours its on.

Fantastic Four

Nothing too spectacular. Dr Doom pretty much sucks ass and does nothing until the last 15 minutes of the movie. The Human Torch is the typical cocky jokester guy who isnt funny. Mr Fantastic is a pussy. The Thing can barely move but hes kinda cool looking haha. Jessica Alba isnt even that hot in it besides when she starts strippin so she can become totally invisble hahahaha

i give it a thumbs down.

House of 1000 Corpses

I know not a lot of people enjoy this movie but I do. Its probably because its from Rob Zombie and I like anything he does. I watched it again today with Jim to get pumped for Rejects and I still enjoyed it. Its pretty sick and disturbing but its also goofy and weird. The acting isnt too good but thats what happens when you cast no names (or very little known names). The style of directing is pretty unique and I hope he keeps up the good work in the new one.

The Devil's Rejects

I dont know if its because all the hype behind it since about a year ago I heard Rob Zombie was making a sequel to House of 1000 Corpses or because it was literally that good. I thought it was an awesome movie. Its not as goofy as House with these almost unbelievably insane characters. Now the characters seems more human and are actually on the run and scared of the awesome William Forsythe character. Its a good thriller, I would not call it a horror movie at all. Its more suspense/thriller than anything. Theres a lot of cool characters too. I must say it was much better than expected. I cant wait to see what Rob Zombie does next since this series seems to be done. The only problem with it is one of the same as House, the acting is still bad in some scenes but thats because Rob hires little known actors to fill spots (not to mention his hot ass wife who isnt that great of an actress.)

Crash

WOW! What an awesome movie. Its all about racism, and with all different races too. Black, White, Arab, Asian, whatever you can think of. Its about all these characters dealing with racism in their lives. It has a pretty decent cast too with Sandra Bullock, Don Cheadle, Brendan Fraser, Matt Dillon, Ryan Phillipe, Ludacris, Jennifer Esposito, and a short scene with Tony Danza. I suggest everyone see this movie because its up there with movies that work perfectly and I enjoy a lot.
