How would I add a song to a flash movie? There's a contest for Pure Pwnage to make a music video type thing to their song they released. How would I play that song throughout so I can animate crap to it?

you import an MP3 or a wav into flash using ctrl+r (or just use file/import). this will put it in your library. make a new layer, call it audio, and drag the music file from the library to the stage. then lock the layer so you dont go putting stuff there by accident.

in order to hear the audio as you "scrub" the timeline with your pointer, select the first key frame in the audio layer where the music is. look down to your properties tab. there's an option caled sync down there. make sure its set to "stream". this will keep you in control of the audio so when you scrub in the time line you'll hear it play back a frame at a time to better sync your animation to, and when you hit enter to play it back, the music will stop when you make the playback stop.

if its set to "event" you cant hear it when its scrubbed, and once you hit enter to test animation, it will keep on playing until its flat out over reguardless of how many frames you give it in the time line.

i suggest keeping it set to "stream" just make sure you give it enough frames in the time line to play otherwise it will stop playing when the time line runs out. its easy to add frames in the time line by selecting empty spaces and hitting F5. you can take frames away by selecting with the mouse and holding shift+F5. hope that helps and good luck!

it wasn't stupid a stupid question. he didnt know how to add audio (or maybe forgot), and i helped him. nothing wrong with that. thats how you learn.
