Did a little DVD roulette in my cabinet of unwatched movies last night. Picked The Hurt Locker.
Haven't seen it since it came out in theaters. I can kind of see what people think its overrated. There's no real plot.
Its just one crazy bomb dude and his team in one intense situation after another. But its just so intense. My wife had to hide her eyes and look away on some scenes because she just didn't know if something bad was going to happen. Its really the epitome of edge of your seat type suspense. But... yeah there's really no story. Its one bomb difusing scene then an argument then another bomb difusing scene then another argument. The end where they're running around in the dark chasing down some baddies is pretty cool. But a bomb squad wouldn't normally be doing that. They just needed something new for the finale. Anyway, I still think its awesome. Can't wait to see the director's next movie which is about the SEAL team who took out Bin Laden.

I love The Hurt Locker and I'm glad it beat out fucking Avatar.

Also that scene where the 3 dudes are slowly clearing that building is intense.

I only saw it once but I thought it was awesome, like Manf said the scenes were really intense, I thought it was cool to see a different take on a war type movie

I think it's one of those movies that is absolutely amazing the first time you see it but the difference the second time is massive.

Not airbender right? I thought the consensus was that avatar was a pile of poop, but I've yet to come across somebody that feels the same way out of the internet.

It's not mind blowingly original or anything but I think it's well done.

I actually liked Hurt Locker a lot too. I would watch Abada over Hurt Locker any day because you gotta be in a certain mood to watch something like Hurt Locker. I think Hurt Locker is a better movie though, but Abada is certainly much more entertaining.

it depends on the day. some days i would want a movie like hurt locker. although, i have only seen either one of them once and i dont think i will end up watching either again. too many other movies to watch to rewatch these. i cant say i was THAT impressed by either one of them. i think they are both pretty overrated.

I liked the 3D in Avatar. I haven't seen it since I saw it in theaters. I'll probably watch it again at some point. Maybe if there was some major discount on the Avatar package with the 3D glasses, I'd pick it up. Those glasses are expensive.

Take This Waltz
This comes out limited in a couple weeks but I was able to see it early. Its about Michelle Williams and Seth Rogen being a married couple who act more like friends than husband and wife. They are very goofy together. Williams meets a dude who she starts falling for. She doesnt act on her feelings because it would be cheating and she still loves her husband. But she really wants to. The whole movie is just "close encounters" these two have of making out or banging or whatever. She was annoying me with this crap. And I felt bad for Seth Rogen who basically is bored with her romantically but still loves her and wants to be with her. She just goes off and has these secret dates with this dude (who is actually their neighbor so she sees him a lot). The movie is very well done but Michelle Williams just annoyed me. I hated the end and then liked it a little more as it went on. Sarah Silverman plays a recovering alcoholic and gets fully nude, as does Williams. That was surprising. Seth Rogen was good in a mostly dramatic role. I guess the movie was OK, I just didn't like the idea of this woman sneaking around because I'm a married man myself and wanted her to knock it off. hahaha It was directed by Sarah Polley who is actually the lead actress in the Dawn of the Dead remake. She's actually pretty talented as a filmmaker. The movie was put together really well.

Sarah Silverman must be pretty old now. How is her body holding up? Michelle Williams is okay but I'm a much bigger fan of the British Michelle Williams, aka Carey Mulligan. She's totally the type of girl I would marry and love forever.

Yeah Abada is fine but every time I think about it I remember how everyone was just cumming in their pants about it. Fucking no one would shut up for over a month. When I saw it I thought it was a sub-par to decent story with some fantastic visual stuff. I think part of the reason I'm always down on it when people bring it up is that it really kicked off this whole 3D revival which I can't stand. Seeing the movies in non-HD is okay but sometimes you notice where the 3D gimmicks would have happened and it kind of bugs me.

Avatar is a 7/10 at best. It's like a hot, stupid girl that you can really only stand to fuck once.

It's more like that average girl who is real clingy that you fuck because you're in a dry spell. That girl.
