Instead of making threads that only get a reply here and there. I figured random shit can just be thrown in here.
Phil, you'll enjoy this.

The Darkness have finally announced the details of their long-awaited new album! The Lowestoft rock gods – who tour with Lady Gaga this Autumn - will release ‘Hot Cakes’ on August 20, and we’re just a little bit excited about it.
The band recently released their new video ‘Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us’. Check it out below…
Anyone catch GnR on the R&R Hall of Fame thing? I definitely nerded out a bit watching Slash, Duff, Steven Adler and Matt Sorum all take the stage. That dude from Slash's band did a pretty good Axl too.

Yeah I watched GnR and RHCP get inducted and then perform some songs. Axl didn't want GnR in the Hall at all or for any other members to show up. But not like they would listen to him anyway.
It was cool seeing them together performing some tunes.

I actually really like the first album from The Darkness (Permission to Land). I listen to it quite often on Spotify while driving. The second album (One-Way Ticket to Hell. . . And Back) wasn't quite as good, imo. Still interested to see what this album has to offer. I like their style. The Darkness are definitely a throwback to a different musical era.

This article seems a bit biased but it has some pictures of the fan interacting with Randy. Some people have said the singer punched him in the face a few times and choked him a little. The thing is all of this happened on the stage. The kid continuously kept jumping on the stage after being warned by security. Also there is apparently video evidence of security guard throwing the kid off of the stage head first and bodyslamming him bouncing his head against a guard rail or something. There is no video evidence of Randy doing anything that looks like it could have caused massive trauma.
Also I think it's pretty odd that they almost certainly did not issue a warrant for the Randy guy's arrest until they decided to return to the Czech Republic because if they did I'm sure his management would have not allowed them to go. Also it's odd that this was 2 years later.
Oh and the fact that he paid $200K in bail and then they denied it after is corrupt as fuck.
They claim that there was a 4th incident that is not on film.
I do not care what Randy did he does not deserve the charges he is facing. After that Dimebag Darell thing if anyone gets on the stage any violence towards that person should be treated as self defense.

I really got into music when I was a freshman in high school, specifically heavy metal. At the time there was a movement called nu-metal that was "sweeping the nation" and Coal Chamber was one of those nu-metal bands. I was pretty much obsessed with them. My notebooks were covered in Coal Chamber logos are concert photos.
ANYWAAAAAAAAAAAAAY.... they reunited and played a small show for a radio station.

Metal Masters is a music clinic with some notable names in metal putting on a show on their specific instrument. Such dudes as Kerry King and Dave Lombardo from Slayer, Scott Ian, Frank Bello and Charlie Benante from Anthrax, Billy Sheehan from Steve Vai and David Lee Roth's band and Gary Holt from Exodus. And of course Jose Mangin from Sirius XM Liquid Metal shows up.
The highlight is at 34 minutes when Phil Anselmo from Pantera/Down comes out to lend vocals and they jam on some Pantera tracks.
I guess you missed all the Facebook rants about it.

This court case is finally wrapping up. Randy posted this on his Instagram.
Quote:
“It’s a beautiful morning in Prague, & time for me to go to what is (hopefully) my final day in court here- supposedly judgement will be passed today & I will move on with my life in one direction or the other. Which direction that is, I do not know. I could walk free, or conversely go to prison for up to ten years. Such is my life right now, & I must stay in this moment until its resolution. Whatever happens to me, do not feel sorry for me, for I am at peace & refuse to feel sorry for myself. Life happens. Deal with it. Some people cannot understand why I have returned, saying
I should not come back here. KNOW THIS, & mark my words well- it would be absolutely intolerable for me to hide from this situation. I am an innocent man, but a family suffers the loss of a son, a fan of my band. That is what this whole thing is truly about, not prison, not money, not politics, not ME- it is about a young man who lost his life at just 19 years of age. He will never come back, & it breaks my heart. I would not be able to sleep at night knowing that I did not behave honorably & try to give his family some answers. That would be disgraceful, and I do not wish to dishonor myself or my family by acting in such a cowardly manner. I was raised to face my problems head on. For me, this is BEING A MAN.
I categorically refuse to live in a constant state of guilt & fear. I would rather die. My morality & convictions are not dependent upon unforeseeable circumstance, nor malleable when difficulty arises. So I walk this morning to court with my head held high, no matter what others opinions of me may be. I have to face myself in the mirror, & tomorrow morning, where ever I may wake up, I will be able to do that without regret.
This is THE ONLY path to true freedom for me- peace within myself. This is the manner in which I choose to try my best to live my life, & I hope you all do the same- do your best to do what is right, no matter how difficult it may be. I promise you, this will bring you peace. I thank you all for your support, I wish you all a good day, & to quote one of my favorite movies: STRENGTH AND HONOR.”

The verdict is in. RANDY IS FREE!

Blesk.cz are reporting that Lamb Of God frontman Randy Blythe has been acquitted in his manslaughter trial in Prague, CZE and is thus a free man. Novinky.cz has also confirmed the news, though noted that the judgement is not final.
Blythe stood accused of manslaughter in relation to the death of Daniel Nosek—a concert attendee whom he is alleged to have pushed off the stage during a 2010 show the band played in Prague, Czech Republic. The fan was said to have sustained fatal head injuries during his fall—injuries which ultimately claimed his life.
For a wounded man shall say to his assaillant, "If I live, I will kill you. If I die, then you are forgiven. Such is the rule of honor".
That song just came on on my iPod.

I still find the fact that there was even a possibility for a 10 year sentence insane. In my opinion if you are a performing musician the stage is yours and fans have no business up there, unless invited.

The lead singer for metal band As I Lay Dying, who also created that Arnold Schwarzenegger based side project Austrian Death Machine, was arrested earlier this week for attempting to hire a hitman to kill his ex-wife. The "hitman" was an undercover cop. The band was actually quite popular doing festivals like Ozzfest and Mayhem Fest over the years.

A report on Reuters has word that As I Lay Dying/Austrian Death Machine, etc. frontman Tim Lambesis has been arrested after attempting to hire a hitman to kill his estranged wife.
Lambesis was taken into custody in Oceanside, CA today, Tuesday, May 07th, after attempting to solicit her murder via an undercover detective. A report on Fox 5 San Diego alleges that the police were investigating him since this past Thursday after first learning of his plot.
The authorities are said to have then laid the above-mentioned trap. He has been booked in Vista Detention Facility where he is currently being held on the charges. According to utsandiego.com, Lambesis‘ ex filed for divorce on September 20th of 2012.
Lambesis had most recently just raised over $78,000 dollars via this crowdfunding campaign for a new album from Austrian Death Machine.
Update – May 07th 8:19pm:
The official press release on the matter via the Public Affairs Unit of the San Diego County Sherrif’s Department has gone live here, it reads:
“Tim Lambesis, lead singer and co-founder for the heavy metal band, “As I Lay Dying” was arrested without incident today, May 7, 2013, at 2:00p.m. in a retail business on Vista Way in Oceanside. Lambesis is charged with Solicitation of Another to Commit Murder.
Information came to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department on May 2nd that Lambesis was soliciting another individual to kill his estranged wife, who resides in Encinitas. The Encinitas Detectives, The San Diego Fugitive Task Force and the Sheriff’s Special Investigation Division investigators immediately initiated an investigation.
The investigation culminated this afternoon, when Lambesis solicited an undercover detective to kill his wife. He was then arrested, transported to the Encinitas Station and booked into the Vista Detention Facility.”

UTSanDiego.com has acquired court documents related to Meggan Lambesis‘ divorce from As I Lay Dying, etc. vocalist Tim Lambesis, which she filed for this past September. According to the article she alleged that his behavior had changed in ways “that concern me regarding his ability to care for our three children.”
She further stated: “he has become obsessed with bodybuilding and spends a great deal of time lifting weights, hanging out in the gym, and being unavailable to the children.”
She also said Tim had fallen asleep while supervising the children at the beach or near the pool, and would ignore them while texting or talking on the phone.
The article further summarizes the documents, by saying:
“….She said that Lambesis was away on concert tours about six months a year, had twice visited his then-girlfriend in Florida, and was staying at his parents’ Del Mar Country Club home. She said he spent thousands of dollars on tattoos for himself last year and purchased high-end vehicles.”
She provided a 2010 tax return that showed their gross income to be $233,000 as part of the proceedings. The couple are said to have sought joint custody of their three adopted children with mediation for visitation terms.
As previously reported, Lambesis was arrested in relation to an alleged murder-for-hire plot targeting his ex-wife on Tuesday, May 07th. He is due in court this afternoon to be arraigned on charges of solicitation to commit murder and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Somehow Stone Temple Pilots still exist. As one of my favorites from when I was a teenager, I still sorta keep up on STP news though I don't think I listened to their last album because the one before that was poop.
Anyway Scott Weiland has been replaced with the singer of Linkin Park. Here is a new song with him
I actually don't hate this as much as I thought. I mean I'm not going to run out and buy the album or anything but I guess the Linkin Park guy does a good job channeling Scott. But that said, even though I hate Linkin Park, at least that was his thing. In this is basically just pretending to be someone he's not and doesn't bring anything unique. He just sounds like he wants to be Scott.
I fucking love the new Daft Punk album. A lot of people hate it because it's more relaxed compared to their earlier work and it takes a lot of inspiration from 70s disco, funk and jazz. I don't know, I think looking at their previous work, this direction was obvious for years. All I know is that the production work is the best they've ever done and the compositions are way more intricate and well thought out. No more songs that are essentially one loop slightly changed up over the course of 8 minutes. Lots of songs with lyrics and live instruments. It's fucking fantastic.
Discovery is a great place to start. It's got a good range of styles and quite a few standout tracks. Homework is definitely a product of it's time. Not sure how easy it would be to listen to now. Human After All feels like a step backwards after Discovery.
I think they are all worth listening to, but Discovery the best of the previous 3. Easily.
