i saw a prototype of glass that had little widgets in it (like weather, news ticketer, ect) at E3 i believe. the idea is that your kitchen window is made of it and while you, say do they dishes, you can check out the news and what have you. the idea is not that far off.

The glass promo was ridiculous. The guy is just walking around town talking to himself. I already hate the bluetooth guys, now we're going to have the glass guys? I'll punch that glass right off of your face! On a related note, I'm going to have my initial phone screen with Google Friday. If I somehow end up working on Glass, that would be quite ironic. But chances of that happening a pretty slim to none.

You know what sells the screens in Minority Report? The gloves. The gloves make it seem like it could be possible. If he just walked up to the screens and was waving his hands around (like Kinect) I bet that moment wouldn't seem as believable. Just a thought.

Yeah the gloves were key. Hell they should have done gloves for Kinect. Maybe it would work better then.

Yeah that whole "Project Glass" thing was weird. Basically you are going to need a google car to avoid hitting the idiots paying too much attention to their google glasses who walk right into traffic. Also I feel like this thing is going to make distracted driving way too easy if it works how they claim it will.

I don't want to play the Microsoft fanboy here, and I prefer the Wii for motion control, but I haven't had an issue with most Kinnect software for doing motion control as long as you can find adequate space to play with. Unfortunately we had to literally move all the furniture out of our largest room to get it working optimally. I just don't see much point in full body motion control right now, if I really want to get up and run around I'll go outside.

they have pretty much gotten that minority report thing going somewhere. all we have seen is the consumer versions. i can guarantee you there are military and government applications of it somewhere.

Not the US government. If you only knew how behind in technology our government was, you'd still think it was 1989.

Yeah, in my experience at Lockheed Martin, we were developing training manuals for some out dated looking equipment. There was nothing high tech about the stuff we worked on. And the crap I worked on required a clearance, so it must have been semi important.

Man drones are futuristic as fuck I don't know the exact range on them but you can basically sit in safety and fly this little drone in, identify a target, and blow it the fuck up. In our society shit comes out that is insane but we become used to it so fast. Like think about when the DS/iPhone came out. we have this insane touch screen technology that people couldn't even imagine just a few years earlier and people start out all "oooooooo aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh" and then months later a large percentage of people were just like "touch screen.... I guess that's neat" we are just focused on the future and new shit so much.

Our Conservative government is facing some pretty big controversy over getting some F-35s from Lockheed Martin. Basically they told the public that it would be $14.7 billion but our AG came out and said that it would really be closer to $25 billion and it is pretty obvious that the Conservatives new about this. Now there's all kind of bullshit about accounting errors and our Defense Minister did an interview saying that the operating costs should not be counted since it will be the same as what we use for our current jets (which will no longer be used) but the Treasury Board says that all costs must be publicly identified. They should have been more open with this shit cause there was already enough controversy with a large percentage of people thinking that this purchase is a complete waste of money.

I'm with Irate on this one, the average soldier might be kitted up with garbage but that's just because it's cheap and your average grunt's life is not worth much. You can't tell me the U.S. doesn't have the most advanced air force in the world though. At the same time what you see fielded is not the same as what's available either, all sorts of private firms have developed incredible technologies that the U.S. military has passed on just because they don't see the need to spend money upgrading.

And it's hard to convince a country's politicians to upgrade when the majority of your armed force's tech is still considered to be better than, or at least on-par with your most immediate rivals. And in terms of rivals what do you really have? The germans who are our allies, and whose companies are often contracted out to do work for the U.S. government, and what, maybe Japan? But even then the Japanese have developed a policy that is so anti-military that the JSDF feels more like a national reserve than a military, and as such they never really felt the need to excessively fund their military forces.

I know there's some innovation in Russia and China, but it still feels like they're mostly just innovating on proven cold war technologies like the AK-47.

I know the US has used some pretty awesome UAV's(unmanned aerial vehicles) in seek and destroy missions against terrorists in recent years. Like if they gather intelligence that a known terrorist is staying somewhere, they send one of those things in and blow up the house or something.

i was talking about the glasses, as in a pair of glasses you wear that i've seen google working on, but a pane of glass where it serves as a surface to have information projected onto. being able to interact with it is currently technically possible also with kinect-like tech. i think minority report type stuff is actually technically possible today but the hardware to run it is probably not very cost effective.

also, our military has hi-tech shit no doubt about it. the average grunt doesn't have it, but our seal teams and special forces pack some shit. i think we're already forgetting exactly how we got bin landen. we fucking went in there like god damn ninjas, cleared out a fucking bunker-like fortress, killed the target, and got out without a single casualty (minus a downed chopper).

Oh yeah that screen is definitely possible but I don't think you could have the same level of control. It basically is a combination of Kinect with the Wii/Move (the glove) with some commands that look ipod touch-esque.

Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked

Pretty much everything you would expect from the conclusion of an epic trilogy. Roles are reversed as Simon becomes the wild/unpredictable protagonist and Alvin is forced to be the responsible one. Dave Seville is forced to join up with his former nemesis Ian (David Cross) to overcome adversity. Also, a volcano explodes.

So yeah, what could they do in a 4th movie to top this one?

I saw the Devil

A man's fiancee is killed by a serial killer, so he takes it on himself to track him down and get revenge. Once he finds him, he beats the shit out of him and makes him swallow a GPS tracker which he uses to follow him throughout the whole movie. It's kind of great to see this normal dude take on the role of a serial killer just to troll the actual serial killer.

Ha, I didn't think people on here watched foreign films. That was pretty good. I like the killer dude. He's in all sorts of Korean movies. He's pretty good.

I'm a huge fan of Akira Kurosawa and Takashi Miike. Netflix has tons of foreign films that I wouldn't be able to find normally. I think a lot of people don't like subtitles, but since I watched subbed anime at a younger age, I guess it doesn't bother me. There's a lot of good stuff out there if people would just take the time to look.
