Surprise!

Also, John despite the fact you told me you couldn't make it because you were going out for your wife's birthday, I managed to come up with a completely different story. I was tired as shit. Hahahaha.

I am enjoying hearing this again right now. It's good to hear everyone after what seems to be so long.

Smorgers are growing up.

I have some adjustable weights in my room and after hearing that I went to try it just to see how it was. I could do the 35s about 5 times (I feel like I could have done a few more but I didn't want to drop weights on a floor not built for that). Actually I feel kind of bad about that because Summer 2011 I could definitely curl 30s (I might have moved up to 35s by the end, I can't remember) for a set of 20.

If I'm standing up, I can do 35's but when I'm sitting down on the incline benches, I usually just do 25's. Maybe 30's if I'm just sitting straight up. I also overheard the fitness instructor tell this other person to do regular curls instead of hammer curls. A lot of people like to do hammer curls because it's easier to do heavier weights (to make you look like the bigger dude on the campus kind of thing) but you get a more even workout if you do them the regular way.

Actually hammer curls are much less likely to injure you. That's why I prefer them.

If you're getting injured, you're probably trying to do too much, or doing them incorrectly. I'm just telling you what I heard the physical trainer said.

Yeah I had a personal trainer. I get this weird pain in my forearm whenever I really do any kind of arm exercise. Even when I play the drums to much it happens sometimes. It's almost like the pain is coming from my bones (I believe it is the radius bone). When I do any kind of palm up weightlifting it almost always happens so I prefer hammer curls or using a curved bar to curl. Curling exercises are my least favourite personally (with the exception of triceps "curls"), I prefer pushing exercises (especially chest press), and I really enjoy rowing style exercises as well.

I don't really enjoy any weight lifting exercises really. I actually prefer exercises that strengthen the core. I need to figure out more of those to do. Those guys I saw at Cirque Du Soleil have ridiculous core strength. All those acrobats are strong as shit. The majority of strength probably do not come from weight lifting with dumbells but with core exercises.
