I've had a pretty fucking awesome week.
I already mentioned my refinancing in the home improvement thread, less money and less years for my mortgage.
I hit my 20 lbs loss by Thanksgiving this week too.
Tomorrow my friends are coming over for beer/Uncharted 3 all day.
To top it off, my dad hit the lottery earlier this week. Not life changing money, but enough that his retirement is going to look pretty good and that me and my sister are going to get pretty sweet Christmas gifts this year.

Awesome man.

Sorry this is ALWAYS the first thing that pops into my head when someone says they had a great day. Though I guess in this case a great week.

These fucking shows.

Nice. Do you have that crazy red ring around your iris?

Also what happens if your vision gets worse? I was thinking about getting that done but I'm terrified of fucking with my eyes and I realized that my vision got worse again this year. (I think it's been about 3-5 years since it's gotten noticeably worse).

There's a slight bleed because my capillaries grew into my iris because I wore contacts for so long. I forget it was the iris or whatever place it wasn't supposed to be. But it will go away in a week. Aside from that, everything feels fine. My eyes are a little bit dry but that is to be expected. My eyes also haven't changed in years so I didn't really have to worry about my eyes getting worse. I would wait until your eyes stablizes before doing it. You're still young so you have plenty of time to wait.

Good to hear. You'll probably saving a lot of money. Not to mention you'll smell better.

I didn't know you were a smoke. Any other smokers here?

Good call man, I don't know how much you smoked but apparently if a smoker in the states goes from a pack a day to 0 they save like 2.5 grand/ year. Here in Canada it's at least double that. I forget how much cigs cost here but it's like $10-12 I think.

Good job man, don't give in. Smoking is like the worst habit someone could get.

The money is terrible, but the thing that killed me the most is how compulsive it can be. You convince yourself that smoking is so great, but I was just doing it out of habit most of the time. There were certain times of the day where if I wasn't smoking, I was agitated. It definitely made life rough sometimes.

On Friday, I decided I would just put my foot down and not buy another pack. It hasn't really been that hard, even after 10 years. You just need to have the right frame of mind I suppose.

Anyway, saving money, food tastes better, and I'm not as smelly! Triple win!

I was just talking about this with my wife the other day.
Remember when you actually had to request smoking or non-smoking at restaurants.
Weird that we kind of just forget about stuff like that. It wasn't even that long ago.

Yeah, Philly Diner, non-smoking.

I completely forgot about that. That's good though because I hated having my clothes smelling like smoke if I went to a bar.

Yeah we would go to Quizzo at Schileen's every Thursday and I would have to wash every single thing I wore because it stunk.
That was right around when it ended. Because I remember going and being glad that whole smoking ban started.

I was talking to my dad about smoking the other day, it blows my mind that people used to walk around smoking in malls and the 700 level was a smoking section at the vet. He said they used to smoke cigs stooges and pipes at eagles games haha.

I tried to bring back the pipe a couple years ago and it failed. No one was interested.
I have big bags of flavored tobacco in my basement still because I barely used it. Oh and an entire pipe collection from my grandpop. Some of them are disgusting though because he chewed them. haha

I can remember going to both of my grandparents houses growing up during holidays and what not and they'd just be in the house smoking it up like it's no big deal. Actually the home next to my Gradmother was up for sale a bunch of years back. It was another older couple that were big time smokers. I heard when the new owners bought the place they needed to rip all of the walls down because the smoke was just embedded into that shit. Apparently they also had carpet in the kitchen which was a disaster. Carpet in the kitchen. That had to be like a 60s thing or some shit.

Smoking is restaurants was ridiculous. I love how big the outcry was when they banned it hear, all that "You're infringing on my rights!" shit. Come on man, you are somewhere between 5 and 20% of the restaurant and you're bothering probably like 30-80% of the people in there. I remember in Quebec it was fucking ridiculous though. Like probably something like a 80%-20% or 70%-30% in favour of the smokers. There was this little restaurant/diner thing right near where my Grandmother lived in a rather lightly populated area of Quebec and I just remember how delicious the food was but how fucking disgusting the smoke was. You basically walked into a cloud. I'd bet all of my money that every single employee of that place died from cancer.

Thanks dudes! So far it's been pretty easy, but I'll take all the encouragement I can get.

They actually banned smoking in the city next to mine, the only place you can smoke now is on your own property, if you're smoking walking on the side walk you're fucked

Wow. Here they're proposing smoking bans on patios, parks and outdoor concerts (unless they're on NCC property) and people lost their shit.

Actually that might have gone through, I can't remember.

A smoking ban on sidewalks and such seems pretty intense. Which city is that?
