I somehow beat Shinobi tonight. There were a few times where I thought that game was going to get the best of me, but I pressed on. There was really only one impossible part that I needed to sort of cheat on. You have a magic ability that gives you a shield for a few hits. There is this jump on the final stage that I believe is impossible without it. I tried to do the jump a million times and I just couldn't do it. I looked it up online to see if I was even doing it right, I was as it turns out. The guide suggested using the shield magic. I was pretty ticked.

Anyway, this game is awesome as shit. I also started getting into the music, and the credits revealed the truth. It was done by the guy that did the soundtrack to MGS2 and 3. Hearing it again, I actually hear lots of MGS3 in there.

Anyway there is still some stuff I want to do in this game. I've only done a handful of the challenge maps and I want to attempt to get an S rank on the stages (I have it on a few of them already). I'll never attempt this game on Hard Mode. You only get 3 continues and 3 lives each. You have no idea how many continues I used to complete this son of a bitch.

I beat FFXIII-2 tonight. But there's still actually a ton of stuff more I can do. The game is actually pretty short if you don't do any of the side stuff at all. The ending was actually pretty good. I was surprised. The story is pretty wacky but whatever. It was entertaining. There was actually a part in the end that they didn't explain at all and didn't make any sense. And I actually didn't ended up hating Serah at the end completely. So I suppose the game succeeded. Yeah she was horrible in the first game but at least they made her okay in this one. So yeah, this game is much better than the first. The combat is still auto battle city though.

I beat this game a few times yesterday, I got all the CD's and got all 12 treasure chests on Normal mode. I loved it, but don't think I'll go through it again on Hard or Super Hard. Maybe another day. I'm trying to plow through my Ambassador games, Maybe Yoshi's Island next.

Stacking is a neat little adventure game by Double Fine that was released last year on XBLA and ported over to the PC last week. You play as Charlie Blackmore, the smallest Russian stacking doll in the world and his objective is to save his family from some evil baron. You basically have to stack into dolls that are one size bigger than your doll and use their abilities to complete challenges. Some dolls abilities have a purpose and others are just used to goof around. The main storyline isn't too long, I beat the main game and the DLC that came with it in about four hours. However, there are multiple ways to complete the challenges and the game even encourages you to come back and find out the other ways.

Finished the fight last night. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have liked this game nearly as much if I wasn't so emotionally invested in the characters and story. That's really Mass Effects strength. Changing small things in the story to make it feel more personal. I'm still trying to piece together what to make of the ending. Anyway, it was a fun TPS campaign. There were more than a couple FUCK YEAH moments. However, my Shepard's story is done. I don't think I will ever play these games again.

I'm sure he's cool, but I would just play the DLC mission (which is most likely 99% similar to every other mission, dialogue aside) and never see him again.

Oh the mission is pretty shitty. It just has a cool flashback. The character is awesome though. I like his powers and his dialog (although sometimes I feel like the banter is a bit better when I use the stock characters). Also you unlock a completely ridiculous weapon, like I feel like I could blow through Insane mode using it.

That's actually one of my issues with this game. I feel like there aren't enough squad mates. I only have Garrus, EDI, Liara, the DLC guy and James. I like most of them (not really big on EDI but whatever). I kind of wish I could have gotten the Xbox person so I could have more characters (I think if you import you can get Thane and Jack which were 2 I used a lot). I think I could have gotten Mordin but.... you know.

Nope, you can't get those ME2 guys. They do their cameo and you can usually talk to them later, but that's it. At the end, I had 6 dudes to choose from. (Garrus, Liara, Tali, EDI, James and Ashley)

I finally finished Uncharted 3 yesterday. Glad I jumped back in after like a month off because some of those later chapters were incredible. There were some amazing graphics happening as well. I did say "Wow."

One thing I liked about this game that maybe they could have played up even more were the changing environments during gun fights, I thought that was a really cool take on the cover based shooter thing. For example when you're on the ship, at one point waves are flying into the ship and moving all of your hiding spots all over the place. It was really neat. I feel like that was ND's new trick with this game, the way that environments change and how Nate behaves on them. They did this in U2 on the train, but they expanded that idea a lot with this, like the entire ship section, horse/jeep chase, and the final stage crumbling under Nate's feet. Probably a programming nightmare but easily the highlights of the game.

I noticed they also did a few things to force 3D as well, like the vertical cover shooting sections, so that when you kill a bad guy they fall towards your face. Kind of would have liked to have seen this thing in 3D.

That said, I think I can wait on the next Uncharted, and if it comes for PS4, well, so be it, it'll be a long time before I play that. Great trilogy on the PS3 though, and certainly like the highlight of PS exclusives.

Pretty cool game. You use a weapon called a G-lifter to manipulate objects...it's just like the gravity gun from HL2. The game even upgrades the G-lifter to grab enemies towards the end of the game just like HL2.

And the story is pretty much this...

Pretty cool, about what you'd expect given TGC's track record. I'm going to check w/ Randy to see if anyone else is reviewing it. If not, I'll write something up.

Finished RE:R last night. I loved it. The only shitty part about the game is that it has LOTS of swimming sections. Never thought I'd be swimming in a RE game. All the characters are ridiculous but I loved them, aside from Jessica, she's the worst. I hope Parker shows up in more RE games.

Alright, I'm down to the last 2 trophies for FFXIII-2. Both are exceptionally dumb. They have some pretty dumb ass trophies in this game. For 2 of them, I had to tape my controller down and leave the game running while I went and did something else. What kind of programmer thought that this would be a good idea for a trophy? Seriously. But in a couple of hours, I should be done with this game forever.

I hate trophies/achievements like that. They are so stupid. I remember thinking I would get a cool achievement for beating a boss or what seemed like a boss in one game and it was nothing. But you get one for leaving the game paused for like 5 mins.

Yeah, there's one in Darksiders where you have to ride the horse for a ridiculous amount of time. You'd never be on the horse for that long normally.

Used a rubber band and did other stuff while it unlocked.
