Yeah I did it really slow and was just trying to read him seeing if it was hurting him. He never yelped or anything so I guess it came out pretty good, and then when it was over he took off like normal.

Hack, it was some sort of string. He does have a pull toy, but I don't think it has anything like what I saw in there. I'd have to check out his toys again. All I know is that it was fucking insane.

Pretty scary morning.
My wife called me right as I got to work so it was like 7AM. She was freaking out.
Her and Hogan were laying in bed, she was about to get up and get ready for work. Hogan started freaking out. He was shaking and flipping out all over the bed, drool was coming out of his mouth and he started pissing everywhere. He would stop and then start again. Stop and start. She couldn't get near him because he was going wild. She said his eyes were just wide (not rolled back) and he was shaking. So I guess he was having a seizure. He finally stopped and just sat there really still, I guess not sure what the hell just happened. She called our normal animal hospital and it wasn't open yet. She called an emergency one instead and it was either in Turnersville or Mount Laurel which are a good distance farther than our regular place. By now, Hogan is back to acting normal so she tells them that over the phone. He's just following Mandy around the house, and doing his usual stuff. They said if he seems OK then we can wait for our place to open and take him there. But he definitely needs to get checked and if it happens again to bring him in to the emergency place right away.

So she stayed home from work and he seemed normal. She pretty much stared at him the whole time. He eventually fell asleep (they said it was OK if he did). Now they're on their way to the vet to get checked out. Doc said they could get him in at 10.
Hopefully everything is OK. I'm glad it happened early when she was still home and not when were both at work. But it makes me think, I wonder if this happened before. We leave him alone for about 8 hours a day so you never know.

That is scary, but she said he peed a lot during it right? I think if it was something that happened often there would be random piss puddles in spots? Or maybe he didn't pee those times if it happened. But yeah, good thing she was around. Poor guy, hope he's okay.

The vet pretty much said its normal. She said it could be some freak one time thing or it could just be an issue that comes up from time to time that we have to deal with now. There's really nothing we can do to stop it. Mandy is working from home today and tomorrow just keeping an eye on him, but he seems perfectly normal and everything was fine in his physical. They also took bloodwork to test some things but we won't have those results until Monday. The only thing that can actually be treated is if he's epileptic. And they can't know that for sure yet. If it happens again today she has to call and tell them. If it happens days or weeks later we just have to keep a log of it and bring it the next time he has a normal vet appointment. Usually dogs will piss or shit during a seizure so if we're not home we should look for that.

Mandy asked if all those days of shitting could have been seizuers. But they said it wouldn't be in the same exact spot every time and it would probably be pretty messy. And his were just logs in the same spot. So he's still an asshole for that. Plus he hasn't done it in 2 weeks of being in the kitchen so I don't think its related.

So hopefully it just never happens again and his brain just went wild during a dream or something. Because he was asleep when it started happening.
But there's always a chance this could just be a new thing we have to deal with.

He always reminds me of this guy from Final Fantasy for some reason.

That's good he's okay though. I wonder if he'll eat the bandaid off.

Well I was there to witness it this time.
Hogan woke up at 2:30AM and had a seizure again. It was pretty freaky.
It wasn't as wild as when my wife saw it. He wasn't violently throwing himself around. He was just shaking with super wide eyes and drool coming out of his mouth. It lasted almost 4 minutes which felt like forever. Then he peed a little at the end of it. Luckily he felt something coming and jumped off our bed before it started. But I feel bad for him. I just kept my hand gently on his back the whole time to try to calm him down but there's nothing we can really do. The vet just said to make sure he doesn't hurt himself and log all weird behavior. We have been since he has been being weird since his first one. Then when it was over he ran outside and peed and pooped. It was really loose poop too so he was probably a mess inside. He wouldn't lay down for like 20 minutes after that. He was more freaked out than we were. But he's a dog so of course today he's just acting normal like nothing happened.

Well the vet said to keep a log of odd behavior.
He's been getting up in the middle of the night and getting really long drinks of water. On Tuesday night he got up 3 times. Went out and peed twice and got really long drinks every time. I was looking up stuff online and thats a sign of diabetes. Unquenchable thrist.
He also was really itchy last night, rubbing his face on the ground and licking his paws a lot.
He has spring and summer allergies and takes mini Benadryl when he's itchy but they said not to give it to him right now. Plus its still early for those to be acting up.
And then on a couple walks where we go more than just around the circle, he acts a little weird like he forgets what he's doing and just stops.

They all might just be coincidence but I'm writing them down anyway.

Man seizures are scary. I used to volunteer with kids with serious Cerebral Palsy and they had seizures every once in awhile. The scariest one I ever saw was this girl who had something like 20 seizures in a minute. Holy shit was that scary.

My dogs had that before manf, it's the worst to watch happen. With my dog it was just an inflamed pancreas from what we were feeding her.

I got a little camera thingy a couple weeks ago so I decided to test it out.
I'm putting it in here because its mostly me playing with Hogan. But it also has me showing the cake we did for our baby gender reveal. I just have no video editing software to take that part off. haha

Thats weird that it's all one file. The way my cheap camera works is that every time you hit stop and record again, it makes a new video. Maybe there is a setting on the camera?

It does make a new file each time.
I meant, I would have just posted the part about Hogan and cut the part with me walking around with the camera and showing the cake.
That was all one video I took last week though.

So Benson was possibly going to go on anti-anxiety meds, but before I decided to do that I was informed of this dog shirt called a Thundershirt. This shirt is supposed to swaddle a dog and help its nerves. I got the Thundershirt yesterday and tried it on him. He's supposed to wear it for a bit when he's in a good mood. Then you're supposed to put it on him before you think he's going to feel anxiety. Right when I was about to start putting shoes and coats on the girls, I decided to put on his Thundershirt. It may have worked. He didn't shake at all this morning. He still looked pretty upset, but I think he handled it better than normal. When I got in from dropping the girls off he seemed to be in a better mood. Usually when I let him out around this time he refuses to come back into the house. He thinks that if I can't capture him, I can't leave, so he always puts up a fight. I have a method where he lets me grab him when I come around through the gate, but I didn't have to do that this morning. He still refused to come in, but he just sat there and let me nudge him towards the door. When I finally leave is when he shakes the worst, and he didn't shake at all. He also ate his food, something he's been ignoring in the mornings because he's so sad.

The real test is that I've left the gates down and have given him access to the blinds for the first time since I fixed them. If the blinds remain untouched for like a week, then the Thundershirt is truly a miracle.

I got into quite the battle with Benson last night. I kind of just don't know what to do about him sometimes.

When we eat dinner he is a maniac. He has no problem just jumping up to the table and eating food. We are constantly pushing him down off of the table and yelling at him. He is always trying to get the food the babies are eating too. The moment we take a baby out of a chair, he goes right in there and licks what he can.

So last night he was just nonstop. I was getting so pissed at him. Eventually I gave him a wack and yelled at him to stop. This did nothing and he just kept going for more food. At one point we let Helena out of her chair and she had some of her food in her hand that she was finishing. He eats it right out of her hand and she screams. So now I really had enough. I yelled at him to go outside and he didn't budge. He just hid under the table. I decided to go under the table so I could push him out of it. In my attempts he started getting shitty with me. He's only been shitty with me like once or twice in the past. Like he nips and tries to stand his ground. After the third nip, I pulled him over to me, grabbed him by the neck (not too hard, but enough to make him knock it off) and yelled at him to stop. And of course said stupid things like "I will always win" hahahaha. He finally got so scared he peed. I haven't scared the piss out of him in ages. After that he decided he should go outside, and so he did.

Anyway, it was ridiculous. I felt bad about the whole thing but I don't know what else to do. He just acts like a maniac at dinner and is completely unstoppable. It doesn't help that the girls throw food down to him. I think thats the real secret. He's getting lots of mixed messages. I keep trying to tell the girls to stop, but they're not at a point where they're quite getting it yet.

Dinner.

Phil how is the thundershirt working out? I think we are going to have to get them for our dogs..one goes apeshit when there are thunderstorms and the other goes apeshit if we arent at home enough. the thunderstorm aversion dog is already on fukin xanex and her fukin metabolism is so high it only lasts like a half hour. we have been home a lot less lately because of the renovations and us moving shit over there and last night we came home to a kitchen full of pillow fluff. my dog likes to tear shit up when she is anxious. so we are pretty concerned about what they are going to do when we move. at this point they are going to be banished to the basement when we are not there...
