Why don't you just do your own taxes?

Because it's always easier to get someone else to do it for you.

fuckin' a... cost me $13 to file my taxes, and that was for state
taxact.com ftw

i went to a "tax professional" for the previous six years (my parents went there so they would just take mine when they went)... last year they charged me $60 and i'm pretty sure i got ripped off.... i had half a year of tuition to write off and i just started a new job and moved (which i think i could've gotten some credit/writeoffs for) yet i only got like $150 for my return

i don't do my own cuz i work out of state, had 3 W2's and 2 1099's this year, deffinately owed a ton to the IRS cuz of the 1099s, and i don't know what im doing when it comes to write offs (unfortunately this year i didnt have much).

invisi swordman, you think YOU got ripped off at 60 beans? you'd shit your pants if you knew what i just paid H&R Block to do mine this year not to mention the check i just cut the IRS...

needless to say, i didnt get anything back this year.

Ganks, you probably have to pay those city taxes too right? Fuck those taxes. Stupid ass city tax.

I got a nice chunk back. I still have to do my state ones though. Probably won't get much with that. I only got $100 back from my tuition payments though. Thought I was going to get more.

man what do you guys do that makes you have to pay money?
i look forward to this time of year every single year because i always get a nice lump sum depending on how much i worked throughout the year.

one time i had to pay a little because when i worked in PA they charged me the wrong tax.
but i only had to pay some in state, i still got some in federal back.

i cant answer for irate, but for myself, i work alot of contract jobs. they generally only last a few weeks. most companies do not take taxes out of your compensation for these jobs, so its up to me to pay them on my own.

i generally take that money and put it aside in my savings account and wait for the ball to drop this time of year.

What happened to the other epic Taxes thread? I couldn't find it.

Anyways, tax forms are rolling in already. Let's see what I get back this year. It's going to be a pain to file since I moved out of state.

There's one in CLUTCH.
But if you mean the one with Ryan, I think Phil deleted that a long time ago.

You're gonna get lots more now that you have the baby.

We're greatly looking forward to our tax return this year, and hopefully I'll be able to get a new fence with it along with a decent amount left over. My fence is slowly falling apart.

how does the refi affect things?
I didn't think it was going to be any big deal. Just a 2nd 1098 i would've thought?

well i know i ended up paying property tax twice when i originally bought my place. right now i only have what looks to be the 1098 form my first mortgage. I am assuming i will get another one. There are just certain things you can write off from a closing, mostly the prepaids, so I just need to make sure I catch everything. Turbotax is pretty good about guiding you through shit like that though.
