Starting the new thread, though I have nothing to add to it yet.

I completed over 40 games last year... kind of way too many. I'm sure I'll do the same this year. I should probably tone it down some though.

I think Nate takes the champion title once again. Or maybe Dante has him beat but just don't post as many updates about them.

Yeah, you guys play a lot of video games...

Oh don't judge. The amount of hours you put onto a single game is spread across multiple for me. Ha.

Finally got around to finishing this game. I enjoyed it quite a bit, definitely one of the darkest/moodiest games I've ever played. The puzzles were challenging and the world was interesting enough that I wanted to keep going to see more. One criticism of the game is that it relies pretty heavily on trial and error, the point where I felt like I was just dying over and over to get through a challenge. It didn't kill the game for me, but it was frustrating to the point that I walked away from the game on several occasions. Cool game though!

Max Payne (PC) - 1/2/2012

First item on my Steam Backlog (I wanna get all these done this year!). Holy Shit, I forgot how hard this game was on New York Minute. Some parts are just ridiculous. And there's so much creepy stuff going on. The dude in top of the cathedral-turned-night club practicing satanism. Creepy. Main storyline about your wife and kid being murdered. Creepy. Flashback/dream sequences where you're trying to save them, but can't. Creepy. Valkyr. Graphic Novel aspect is still awesome. Creepy. The AI on New York Minute is so silly hard, man. In the last sequence in the tower, you go in and clear the very first room, and then you come around this corner and in front of you is a narrow hallway with three dudes up above you with fucking grenade launchers. And on New York Minute, they are fucking pinpoint accurate and they hit you as soon as you come around the corner. Christ, that little sequence took me 40 or something minutes.

Probably going to take on something else before i go after Max Payne 2 though.

Max Payne: Looks terrible; Great Story; Really hard on "hard;" Still Fun.

I'm more than halfway finished this one. I'm really forcing myself through it at the moment. I like that it reminds me of Out of this World, but there is just something about it thats really off to me.

i got it for my bday back in nov, and i finally got the "real" ending last night. its a very talky game. maybe more so than any of the PW games or hotel dusk. i think i might have beat it like 10 times, so i got to the point where i could rip through the rooms in like 5 minutes yet it would still take me about an hour to beat it even while FF'ing the cut scenes and dialog. the ending took me forever to watch, and while the story and characters are pretty engrossing its definitely silly. like, im still a bit clueless what happened at the end hah. still, i enjoyed the shit out of it, and it has a really good soundtrack. thumbs up.

Bulletstorm (PC) - 1/4
Wario Land 4 (GBA) - 1/4

I didn't realize until after I beat it that it's by the dudes that made Painkiller. Makes a lot of sense. I loved it, would buy a part 2 if it ever happens.

Oh, and dick-tits.

Beat Wario Land 4 today while I was sitting around at work. I really like this game, even though it's always over a little while before I want it to be. Makes me want to revisit Shake It again, since it's so similar. The last level is super stressful. As soon as you get in, boom, the timer starts. Then there the damn river that keeps taking you back to the beginning. Rough man. Rough. Topaz levels are the best levels.

WL4 is incredible man. Love that game.

Have some games to add to my list!

Guwange (ARC) Jan 7
Verical Shooter Whose Name I can't Find (ARC) Jan 7
Find Mii 2 (3DS) Jan 7

Played through two shooters at MAGFest. I didn't know the first one was called Guwange until I looked it up. This apparently has an XBLA release, I might actually get it down the line because it was pretty awesome. The second one I can't find out what the name is. It was I *think* another Cave shooter. All the bosses were girls. It was really awesome. I actually played that one on a Sega Blast City candy cab and it was sweeeet. Seriously those sanwa sticks and buttons put regular US arcade sticks and buttons to absolute shame. You barely even have to press the button to get it to fire.

And I got over 100 Street Passes, so I had enough people to defeat the two final bosses in Find Mii 2. Yay.

The sanwa stick and buttons are so good. I was playing some games at Dave and Busters with the American buttons and they were awful. The stick was bad too and to top it off, it was a circle gate for some reason. I really much rather prefer the square gates.

I have both gates, I just can't get used to the square gate. I see it's appeal, but it's just too rigid for me.

Yeah. I like American sticks and buttons for the nostalgia/just because factor, but as far as performing well with them it's a bit of a battle. Though another thing is that I'm sure a lot of these machines have just been beaten to hell over the years. Still though, the difference in them is huge. I was doing crazy insane dodging with this thing, then I go to play Contra on a Play Choice 10 and I couldn't even fire diagonally, which I couldn't tell if that was an issue with the way Play Choice 10 sticks work or if they were so beaten up that they just don't work that way.

Also I just want to throw out there that Killer Instinct 2 is still fucking awesome. People poo poo the hell out of those games now when they look back, but I was still loving it. KI1 is rough around the edges, but 2 is where da actions at. I'd love to have that thing at home. Also, I've never gotten it to work on MAME before, has anyone else? It's always a treat when I get to play it because its so different from the N64 version, which I played the shit out of when it came out.

Why not? Felt like busting out the NES today. I'm pretty rusty at Ninja Gaiden now, but some of that muscle memory is still intact. Managed to make it through the final boss gauntlet without dying, though I was close on that last part.

First game of the year woooooooooooooo.

I picked this up for 10 dollars during the steam sale. Pretty solid action RPG, lots of quests and exploring to do. The combat is kinda shitty, but it's an RPG so what else is new.

So goddamn glad I'm done with this game. You're always wandering around trying to figure out where the hell to go, getting killed by everything you see along the way, the combat is impossible to follow half of the time because of the camera, and the difficulty was all over the place. 2 of the 3 final bosses were cake, compared to some of the stuff earlier in the game. There's a boss rush before the final bosses, which you also have to fight consecutively. The only way I made it through was backtracking halfway through the game to get to a merchant and stock up on healing supplies after the first set.

The crazy part is I love Ninja Gaiden 2. The insta kill dismemberment mechanic makes the game so much better.

Jesus, I'm tired now.

Got Kirby's Dreamland for "free" off Club Nintendo. I basically just beat it while taking a shit. It's like a 15 minute long game. I went back to my desk and beat the final bosses.

I was really confused until I realized that you were talking about the Gameboy one, not the NES one. Beating Nintendo Kirby in 15 minutes would be really impressive.
