I think the big issue is that people heckle him more than any other comic. Every time he did a gig people just yelled "I'M RICK JAMES BIIIAAAAAATTTTCH" at him the whole time.

Charlie Murphy kind of touched on it a bit on Joe Rogan's podcast once. When Charlie is out (even with his kids) people recognize him and yell "CHAAHHLIE MURPHAAAYY" at him and scare his kids. Now imagine Chappelle, not only is that Rick James line yelled in a manner that would startle your kids, but it also has "Bitch" in it.

yeah he actually said all that too in some interview i saw of him. people were yelling it at him when he was with his family and pretty much any time he was on stage. as usual, the masses ruin it for the rest of us.
