Oh okay that's not absolutely terrible. From what it sounded I was expecting something closer to 5k.

Plus I called my homeowner's insurance and they're coming out on Friday to check it out. Maybe they'll give me something since it will look bad with the walls and floor all cut out. I also called FEMA after a couple people mentioned it. I had to do this over the phone questionairre that took about 15 minutes. They assess everything and might provide money to help out. I think its only 2% interest to pay it back. Waiting to hear back on that one.

Its looking more like around the $2300 area in the end.
He spent the day yesterday patching up all spots in the wall with this spongey stuff and then covering it in mortar where water was getting in. Then we're going to put on a couple coats of Drylock. Today he's putting in the sump pump and drain in our storage room.

And FEMA came yesterday to check out the damages. They noted an inch of water, damaged walls and floors. So we'll see what happens. They get back to us within 5 days. And my homeowner's insurance comes out today to do the same thing.

It would be great if they were able to cover a lot of expenses.

oh hell yeah! oh hell yeah!
insurance dude said we could get up to 5K to do repairs.
Of course UP TO could mean way less, but that's still promising.

If they are going to cover it, they will either a) cut you a check based on their estimate (which is always high) or B) you give them an estimate and they will cut you a check for that amount

I have done it twice with my roof for hail damage. I'm glad they are going to cover it, that's got to be a fukin huge load off your mind.

Here's what we had to do so far.

This is the spare bedroom where the walls and carpet were wet. We had mold in there too.

And the wall of my precious bar.

This is the wall all patched up where before there were big chunks out of it.

And this is where the pump and floor drain are going. This is the room that flooded really bad.
Its unfinished though so we didnt have to cut away any walls or rip up carpet.

The pump and drain were finished this week and they look great. The bar room wood laminate floor was ripped out and we had a good amount of mold under there so we just trashed it all. Who knows how long that was building up which is kind of disgusting to think about. Half of the planks were probably still good but whatever. We might get tile down there and maybe even and indoor/outdoor rug.
Also all the exposed walls were drylocked with 3 coats. There was some leftover so I actually did some of the wall in my laundry room too where we get a little bit of water but it all goes into another pump. We got absolutely no water today and it rained pretty hard and has been on and off all day long. So that is a big positive. Still gonna wait it out until mid next week before getting the walls put back up. But I'm happy that we're bone dry today.

Haven't heard from insurance company yet. But if we get enough to cover what we paid already then I can pretend this never happened. We paid $1900 so far.

Everything is done. Wall is back up and painted. Made it a darker color.
And the floor is in. Just gotta clean up a bit. Gonna paint the bedroom this weekend and just throw the old carpet back down for now.

had inspections scheduled today..the previous owner locked us out. So I had to reschedule. But at this point, based on what we saw just outside, they will have to come off the price a significant amount or its a dead deal anyways. We even saw the guy when we went there on Sunday and I talked to him for a little while. Seemed like he wasn't an asshole. But yeah, he locked every door and window from the inside, then dead bolted the garage and left with the only key. Chained all the exterior doors..Fukin pain in the ass.

so we finally got all the inspections and shit done. wasn't really as bad as i had expected. but there were definitely some bigger things I was not expecting..so back to the bank with a new price. we'll see how that goes. some of the shit this guy did was just absolutely nuts.

This really isn't a house problem, but a problem from owning a house.
The gas company keeps leaving these things on my door saying they need to come check the gas lines and make sure there's no leak/etc. They do this every other year or so just to be safe.
So I finally called to make an appointment so they could come do this shit. The lady asked if there was a day or time I preferred. I said I didn't care what day, but preferred first thing in the morning. She said wednesday was open and she couldn't say a specific time, but would put in the notes to be there first thing......

Well here it is 10 fucking 30 and still no word from those fuckers...... I hate this shit. I'm wasting half my day so they can come in for 5 minutes and say "Yep no leaks, your good to go."

When my couch was delivered they said between 3-6. So I had to leave work early to be home.
They ended up showing up at 7. I usually get home at 5 so I didn't have to leave early at all.
Grinded my gears because then I had to make up the time on a Friday where I normally love getting done at Noon.
