Did War Horse even come out yet? How is it nominated for all these things? I hope that movie is good.

No, it comes out on Christmas. But its not based on fans anyway. All the critics get to see stuff early during this time of year.

I'm fine with the other noms it got, but best film...Maybe they only judge on technical qualities and don't count the story so much.

Its my #3 movie of the year right now so I think it deserves a nomination for Best Picture.

i agree. it was worthless. i do not understand 1) how it has such high ratings and 2) how anyone in their right mind can even put it in the same fukin league as heat. anytime people say it it makes me want to kill them.

every time i think of this movie i think of the ridiculous elevator scene where he stomps that guys head until there is nothing left but a stump. it was ridiculous.

i did like the soundtrack.

its kind of funny actually. if you look at RT, there are reviews from users that say the exact same thing. but it is like 1/20. so i guess some of us just didn't get it. I even tried to watch it again..i only got like 30 mins in before i had to quit.

tomorrow is the SAG nominations and thursday is Golden Globes nominations so you'll be able to see if more people agree or disagree.

Well obviously more people disagree with us. We are in the minority. It is just weird because even if I end up not loving a movie with reviews that high, I at least like it and get it. So it just boggles my mind a little.

Yeah, I actually didn't hate the movie. It's not a pile of shit, by any means. I just had absolutely no reaction to it because the story and characters are so undeveloped. The main dude might as well have been a silent protagonist in a video game. He was nothing.

I didn't hate it as a movie. What made me hate it was the huge hype train it got and then it was just meh. So as a film I do not hate it, but as a hype train fail, I hate it.

Drive is easily one of the most over rated movies of the year. It was okay but I kept hearing "oh you HAVE to see it it was SO good" and seeing the critics love it and then it was nothing special. The guy was just too awkward and something about the way it ended really bothered me. Also I wasn't too big on the way they paced the movie and the commercials did an amazingly poor job introducing us to the main character. It's not bad, but I would be disappointed if it won any of those awards.

Drive is my favorite movie of the year so far. It is amazing. Saw it twice in theaters and watched the screener twice. I loved the story and I loved the execution. The characters being undeveloped I thought made it that much more interesting, not having a name or a back story, at the end thinking has he done this before in a different city, I thought it was awesome and makes you think, which are the best types of movies in my opinion. I compare him to Anton Chigurh who doesn't really have much of a back story and leaves the audience in a similar way that Driver did. I think it deserved it all the nominations even though I still think it's a long shot for Oscar noms and Gosling will probably be the guy who drops off when it drops to 5 for the Oscars.

Just because it's a different way to tell a story doesn't mean that it is terrible. Sucks you guys didn't relate to the story or characters, you missed out on a great movie.

I feel like Chigurh's character came through in the writing/acting of that character though. Scorpion Jacket-man just has a blank stare the entire movie and says hardly anything. None of that came through for me at all, but thanks for posting. Good explanation of what people that like it saw.

What did it make you think about? I am seriously interested. Because it had zero depth for me. It was like I was watching a tv show I had never seen before and it was in the middle of the 3rd season. It was just some random shit happening to some people I didn't give 2 shits about. The only characters who gave me anything were Cranston and Brooks. The rest was all throw away shit. You can tell a story any way you want, but you have to get me involved, you have to make me give a shit..and i just didnt.

I think it's one of those non-stories where people that like analyzing movies are assigning their own character to the roles. I think the actual story presentation of Drive is too barebones in that regard, and falls into the 'nothing' category rather than the 'framework' category. I know I've had fun doing that sort of thing in other mediums, so I get the point, but I still feel like this one was a total failure in that effort.

Should be Nick Nolte.

Also possibly the only award I even remotely care about.

I agree. But I don't think he'll get it.
