Thats one huge minus of having heaters in the attic. Though, if mine overflowed and ruined my carpet in the basement, I'd want to eat someone face.

I gotta say, how did they bang you 18 g's or whatever and not install a new condensate pump?

It is a new condensate pump. My theory is that it got clogged, and I think it got clogged by all that dust shit they sprayed up there. When I was bailing out the water there was a ton of that dust in the tray. I imagine those pumps aren't made to pump out that sort of shit. That's just my theory, I could be totally wrong.

That sucks dude. At least you caught it before winter really kicked in though.
It's absolutely ridiculous the shit you've gone through, especially after all the new shit you've put in and to still have issues.

Thanks man. Yeah I don't really get it. I don't know if they're just completely incompetent, or I just have the worst case of bad luck with this thing. Or both.

Either way they're coming out later today. The girl that answers the phone knows who I am by this point and is always good about getting someone out here the same day.

I feel your pain man. Every time I get something fixed, I have a small window of relief before something else goes wrong.

Yup. It's just ridiculous. Every seasonal change brings something new.

I'm curious to see if they'll try and charge me for this shit. I'll flip my lid. Not only do I refuse to pay, but I don't even have the money to pay. These scum bags.

Alber himself is getting a letter tonight man. I heard he's a big son of a bitch pretty much from one of his employees.

So they showed up yesterday and fixed the pump. All the guy said is that the pump failed. I wasn't being a shit head to them yet because I wanted to see how they would deal with the situation. Guy of course never charged me, and he was the one that said they're going to call me today about setting up something for a guy to come out and fix the ceiling. So I never had to demand it to be fixed, which is good, they know they fucked up big time.

I still think I want to write a letter to the owner about the entire thing. I'd just ask to speak to him, but there is too much stuff in this stupid heater history that I'd need to sit down and think about it. It's just ridiculous.

If he is a shit head and you are getting what you want..you might want to wait until you don't get what you want.

My stupid electric bill keeps going up every month. I don't understand it. I'm not turning on the heat that much. Or am I? I don't know. My October bill was $26 and January's bill was $133! How is there such a huge swing?! I don't get it. I think I'm going to start turning my computer off when I'm not using it anymore.

It's probably working overtime. Your house probably isn't "energy efficient" (especially because it's older) so your heater is working harder to try and get the house to a certain temperature.

its friggn freezing in here again. but, yeah this house is so old is has no insulation im sure of it. the attic looks like it did once but it was pulled out? i see bits of paper and staples hanging from the joists up there. the temp says 69, but my hands are ice cold.

im renting this place so im not going to do anything to fix it. i just got to get through this winter that's all.

I just ordered one of these guys for the basement using Amazon credit for a bunch of shitty games I traded in.

I actually have this exact one blasting me in the face at work at this very moment. I didn't realize it was the same until now. It works pretty good. I brought it home and tried it and it worked good, but then I was cold at work again so I brought it back here. Someone gave it to me a while ago when I said how damn cold it was in this office.

i just turned it up a degree and the shit kicked in. its warm in here. but what happens is that it will start to get colder in here and i have to kick it up another degree and so on and so on. its like the heat just flies out. the window over the kitchen sink just has cold air flying through it.

Heres a little advice, and it says it right on the plug. Never use an extension cord on one of them.

I woke up to the smell of burning wires one morning and the plug started melting, I was a few hours from a burned down house. I can't find the picture of the melted plug but it was pretty insane.

It says really big on a tag not to use extension cords haha, whoops.

How about a power strip? Does that count? That's how I have it here at work and how it'll likely be plugged in at home.

I'm usually nervous of them because I always hear things about them overheating and being fire hazards, so I never run them for very long. Just a bit at a time to warm up.

You "can" use an extension cord on them, you just need to use the right type of extension cord (i.e. an "appliance" cord). The rinky dink extension cords with the 3x three prong outlets on them will most definitely be a fire hazard on a space heater. But a 12 gauge copper 1x three prong outlet appliance grade cord will be fine. Heck most of those have lower gauge (i.e. thicker) wire than what is in your walls (thus lower resistance = less energy converting to heat). The cheap extension cords you probably have laying around are not built for more than 4 or 5 amps, and will typically have 16 gauge or higher aluminum wire which has higher much higher resistance, and will thus heat up a lot more than the appliance grade cords.

In other words something like this would be fine:

http://www.amazon.com/Coleman-Cable-9-F ... B000HE8PCO

It is all about the amps, and this is rated for 20 amps over the cord, which is more than your typical home circuits (15 amps which typically cover multiple outlets). Check the amps on the heater (it may tell you on the cord). Check the end connectors, not sure if this exact cord uses 5-15P/5-15R plug/sockets which are for your standard home outlets.

i bought a heavy extension cord for my window AC. Its not very long but is just fine and has a surge protector on it.

i went into my old condo the other day to fix the faucet adn i walked into my tennants bedroom to find a space heated plugged into a surge protector. i unplugged it and left (she's currently not living there) i didn't like it like that.
