I had to go out last night and buy some supplies for what is sure to be an awful Halloween costume, so Dem and I went with the girls to Boston Market for dinner. It's been a while since I've eaten in there but it looks like they put some new customer service things into place since then.
So the cashier took our food to our table. I wasnt sure if she was being nice because we had the babies in our hands, or because she had to. I noticed at the table there was a sign not to throw your trash away and that no tip is required. I felt weird about this and still wanted to throw my trash out, but there were no trash cans for customers to get to. I gathered all my trash and made the pile as nice as possible, wiped the table down and left.
I felt weird about this. We're so wired to pay for tipping and to clean up for ourselves at a place like McDonalds that when you have a place that tries to rest in the middle of these that it becomes confusing.
Just thought I'd share.
If you're just eating on plastic, then you should be able to throw your own shit away. If it's actual dishes, then they can do it. If they're actually waiting on you, then I'm all for tipping. Everyone else isn't getting no tip!
