We talk about this game a lot but there's no thread for it. Anyway, here are some deets from a interview in Nintendo Power

- game is in the final stages
- Miyamoto working on the final touches
- localization going to be underway soon
- worked hard to increase the variety and richness of the gameplay over the last year
- story is centered on the creation of the Master Sword
- Link sort-of forges it along the way
- Link and Zelda are great childhood friends in Skyloft
- Link must hunt down Zelda to save her from the land below Skyloft, which one one has visited before
- Zelda is in no way a princess in the traditional sense
- Zelda is both sweet but has another strong side to her
- Link will use Zelda's harp to find something important
- playing the harp involves strums and the MotionPlus, and is based on the rhythm of strumming

- quite a few fully orchestrated songs, but not all
- the design choice with Lord Ghirahim was to make a villain opposite the style of Ganon
- there most likely is not a relationship between Ghirahim and Vaati
- Skyward Sword comes before Ocarina of Time
- the Triforce sort of takes on a different meaning and plays a different role in the stor
- Ganon will not appear in the game
- the guys at the bird race are part of a knight academy that Link is a part of
- these knights oversee the school, and [the people are] also his classmates
- there's also a vast world above the clouds as well–little islands floating in the sky all over the place
- these places feature events and scenarios that play out
- the bird is used for travel and racing

So the Harp has been confirmed as the musical instrument. Very cool. I kind of wanted it to be a surprise to find out what you'd be playing in game, but oh well. Also, no Ganon. I guess story wise they're sticking to the fact that Ganon's first appearance is Oot, so anything before Oot will not have Ganon.

I'd like to, but I probably won't have money for the gold wiimote edition :(
You guys should take an extra 2 weeks off gameclub and do one for this game.

Yeah you know, I dig that. Zelda bosses are usually awesome and I've actually played through some of the games just to get to certain bosses, so that's neato too.

Oh yeah, the free Four Swords download for DSi/3DS owners has a new single player mode along with a bunch of other new shit. Now I'm excited about it. I was under the impression it was a straight port of the GBA version, meaning it would be worthless to me. Looking forward to it now.

November 20th.

Also, Sess and Morgan Webb are up to their latest Nintendo trolling

Quote:
Adam Sessler: Zelda. I think it is curious. Of course I'm going to play it, but it's not drawing up that same level of enthusiasm that a Zelda game usually would.

Morgan Webb: *Yawns* Okay, I think basically what it is is that you show Zelda and then right after that we showed Uncharted, and just the difference in graphics and just adult nature of Uncharted...the graphics were beautiful.

Adam Sessler: And the evolution of gameplay...it doesn't feel like we've really graduated from what we experienced in Ocarina of Time.

Morgan Webb: And how great would a Zelda game be on a modern console with modern graphics.

Good god. Good fucking god.

Zelda games don't come out frequently enough for me to care that they play pretty much the same since OOT.

That's kind of my thought. It's been five years since TP, and I play Zelda games because those are the kinds of games I want to play. I want to find keys and I want to go into dungeons and find new items. I also feel like each Zelda game offers something unique in the fact that it doesn't replace the old one. Like, I would probably never go back and play something like Super Smash Brothers when I could play Melee or Brawl, yet there are reasons to revisit stuff like Wind Waker and Majora's Mask.

It would also be one thing if the industry was good at making Zelda clones and there were a ton of them on the market, but there aren't. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Darksiders.

And going back to their quotes, listen, I love the shit out of Uncharted, but it's Gears of War meets Prince of Persia. It's not doing anything revolutionary, but it's damn good at what it does. And the adult nature of it killed me... it's a PG13 Hollywood movie. It's a damn fine PG13 Hollywood movie, but it's not fucking adult in nature. And Zelda's graphics may not be in HD, but I think it can hang with the big boys. It's the nicest looking Wii game since Galaxy.

But whatever, they'll just keep on trollin. Also, I'm still expecting this to be the most poorly reviewed console Zelda, and I don't give a damn.

You know what, I almost feel sorry for the folks at X-play. They've become so marginalized that they have to act like complete morons and beat their chests for the Bro crowd to get noticed anymore.

Why would anyone care about what two talking heads have to say (considering their words are written for them) when there are plenty of people out there on the internet giving their own, honest opinons free from the pressures of publishers and advertisers.

You raise a good point with the words being written for them. Are these really their own thoughts on these games? Makes you think.

Quasimoto and Zombie Head can troll all they want, this game is still going to crush Uncharted in sales.

Uncharted 2 sold 3.8mil, TP sold almost 6 (including GC) and about 5mil just on Wii.

I want to agree with you, but I'm thinking Skwyard has no chance of doing TP numbers. TP had the luxury of being the big game at launch for Wii (outside of Wii Sports, which it came with), something no Zelda has had the honor of. Also, the hardcore audience was there for Wii out of the gate, that group has since left Wii. Uncharted 2 blew away the sales of the original, and with the marketing push Uncharted 3 is getting, I almost suspect that it'll perform better than Uncharted 2.

That said, Gears and MW3 are going to blow both of them away anyway. Skyrim has a shot too.

Also, LOL at Zombie Head. HAHAHAHAH.

I just watched a couple of trailers on GT of this. It looks pretty awesome... I'm thinking about ordering the bundle with the extra controller.
