F&F Beta has officially started. People are already datamining shit.

    -There is no NDA
-There are several people running livestreams
-The Beta client is widely available (though you obviously can't play unless you get a beta invite)

Diablofans has all the Diablo-related info you could ever want.

If i don't get a beta invite, i will cry. i LOVE the Diablo franchise.

Annnnd right after i post, i see the first F&F Beta Patch has been released:

Quote:
Diablo III Beta Patch 2 - v0.3.0.7318

User Interface
The UI for character skills has been greatly improved.

Bug Fixes
General

Breaking News will now properly display when launching the game client.
The victory text for completing the Diablo III beta will now only appear after the Skeleton King’s death animation has fully completed.

Classes
Monk

Fixed an issue with Dashing Strike where casting it would sometimes cause the character to become stuck performing the ability repeatedly, at no resource cost.
Fixed an issue that allowed characters to receive the Divine Protection buff without having an Alabaster Runestone socketed in Mantra of Evasion.

Wizard
Helm icons will now properly display for both male and female characters.

Acts
Act 1

New Tristam
Fixed an issue where the southern gate out of New Tristam would not be open for all characters on the quest "The Fire From the Sky: Talk to Leah Inside the Inn."
Fixed an issue that did not properly remove a character’s waypoints and checkpoints when restarting the beta after killing the Skeleton King while on the quest "Reign of the Black King."

Leoric's Passage
Players will no longer receive error messages when cancelling out of the cutscene for the quest "The Legacy of Cain: Save Deckard Cain."

Chancellor's Tomb
The portal in the Chancellor's Tomb returning you to the Defiled Crypt is now correctly labeled.

The Hidden Cellar
Leah has received adequate weapons training and will now properly fire arrows from her bow during this scene, rather than from her feet.

Nice. I doubt I'll have time to play this but it still looks pretty cool.

I'm not in the beta but I got a chance to play it last night. Everyone is complaining about the style, but it's fuckin awesome, what really gets me is the sounds. Everything sounds so ominous, really good OST.

Diablo always had awesome music. Surprisingly, my wife was actually really into Diablo 2.

When does the next installment of Starcraft 2 come out?

Do you have to register for it or does it give them out if you've already registered a Blizzard game?

just go to your battle.net account and then there's a place under settings for "beta options"

Yeah, looks like it's already activated. I need to have them rescan my computer though because the PC specs it has on file is out of date.

Blizzard announced that there'll be 6 releases over the next 3 years
So probably
3 WoW expansions
Diablo 3
Diablo 3 expansion?
Heart of the swarm

Or there'll be like 4 warcraft patches and starcraft/diablo

One can hope that 2 of those are the remaining installments of Starcraft 2. They should be finished with the Protoss campaign in 3 years right?

It's really fucking short right now. I played through Act I as a demon hunter, took maybe 20 min in a co-op game. Got approximately 8 levels through act 1. It feels really small, and it's pretty obvious that some areas are gated off, but will be accessible later. Also found a decent spot to grind to level 10 in successive games; a repeatable quest.

So far, so good.

You going to purchase? I've probably beaten D2 8 or so times.

Also how are the graphics? by that i mean the feel of the game, does it feel like a diablo game?

I just watched Day9's play through part 1. It seems pretty Diabloish to me. Looks pretty awesome.

OMG yes i'm going to buy it. I played diablo II for hours and hours and hourshourshours. I have three legit copies of D2 and LOD. Probably the game i put the most time into before WoW.

yes, i'd say it's VERY diablo-ish. It's also really really pretty. There are some interesting environmental things you can do, in terms of terrain destruction. Should also add that only act I has been implemented so far.

haha yeah i'm in the same boat, I always used to lose the CD keys, guess the next time i buy it i can just put it on battle.net

I guess i'm more pumped for this than a new starcraft/warcraft because I really have no idea what it's going to be like, especially storyline wise, how's Diablo coming back? Is tyrial still kicking? will baal make a an appearance :(

Well. after playing with the Demon Hunter, last night i played through with the Barbarian. And one thing is painfully obvious: Either the barb is ridiculously overpowered, or the Demon Hunter hits like a wet noodle. I think it's the latter.

I wanted to talk about the new resource system, but that's a post in and of itself.

Also played around with the in-game auction house. People have already had (a couple) legendary items drop. I'm looking forward to making some real-life cash through that feature.

Really want to try the Monk and [whatever they're calling the caster class] out. Not too psyched about the Witch Doctor.

Heroic Ragnaros is eating up all my gaming time right now, so once we down that shit, i'll have more DIII time.

I'm back on this again. Probably going to give the monk a try tonight.
