I've got a feeling about Northwestern today.... I'm taking them +10 against Iowa
Also:
Utah -6 Notre Dame
Oklahoma -16 Texas Tech
VT -3.5 NC
Auburn -7 Georgia (Newton is going to explode today for 400 yards after his shitty week)
PSU +19 Ohio State

Well as it seems to go I lost the Colts bet on a Titans TD with 0.0 on the clock that had no result on the game outcome but cost me money.

I should quit betting after that but I still will not leave my NFL LOCK of the year Buffalo-Cleveland under.

The line is 39.5 and weather.com is still at 60 percent snow but I got this off Buffalo News.com

Temperatures should continue in the 30s right into Saturday, when the wind and the wet stuff, be it drizzle or snow, should calm down a bit. We'll need that breather before the next weather system rolls through on Sunday -- a big, nasty storm that's supposed to throw rain, sleet and snow at us before ringing in the coldest days we've seen since last winter.

The last time these two teams played in the snow the score was 6-3. The Bills will also be without their starting center. Fitzpatrick has been an OK QB but struggle with accuracy. With the swirling wind that will come with the snow I expect a lot of running from the Bills. The Browns will also feature the run with Peyton Hillis. I see a 17-13 game at the highest here.

With my luck you might want to play the over, but this is the surest I have been on a bet all year.

Well it's not 2010 anymore and i didn't bet on sports, but I went and played a 6 hour poker session last night for the first time in about 2.5 years. Actually it's my first extended session at a Pa. casino. It felt great and I ended up +$100 so I'm in a good mood today.
I hit a big rush of cards in the first hour or so I was there and played too loose. Ended up dropping $100 after 2 hours.
Bought back in for another $100 and picked up some good reads, played tight until I got some respect for being a tight player, hit a couple of well timed hands and walked out at 4 am with $300.

I took off the first week of college but had a great Week 2, going 6-1. I hit on Florida International and Missurri on Friday then got big wins on Wisconsin, Stanford Tulsa and Temple. I got greedy and my dtreak ended with a late loss on Northern Illinois, but still the best week of college football I have had to dat.

As for the NFL I don't bet big on opening weekend since so much can change from year to year, but I have one bet I like and that is Tampa -1.5 against Detroit.

After winning their last four game of the season and all four preseason games, the Lions have built up quite a bandwagon. The Bucs, meanwhile, had a quite preseason and have gotten little attention. This appears to be a classic case of people reading too much into preseason results. Let's not forget the Bucs went 10-6 last year and were very good at home, while the Lions were never in playoff contention. The Lions do have a great D-line, but Freeman has a quick release and can scramble, while Blount looks like the real deal at running back. I do like this Lions team and think they will be better, but there is no way they shoulc only be getting 1.5 on the road against a team that nearly made ther playoffs last year.

Take the Bucs and join me in getting this season off right!

The Lions taught me a lesson in week one, but i was able to get it back with the over in the Pats-Phins game. With that selfish POS Patriots coach they never stop throwing, or scoring.

Wanted to see if any of you guys have thoughts on LSU -3 at Miss. St. on Thursday. Miss. State has gotten a lot of hype so far, but stuggled last week. Being home I could see them being pumped needing to avoid a 1-2 start, but right now I don't see their talent level. The LSU defense looks as good as ever and their offense has moved the ball well so far.

If this were a Saturday afternnon game I would be on LSU all day, but it seems like Thursday night games always end up as surprises and it may be foolish to bet against a home underdog that is ranked.

Considering all that I think I will either put a real small play on LSU or just stay away. Any thoughts?

I was just talking to Whitby about this game and for some reason I thought LSU was at home. I didn't like Miss St. in that scenario, but liked the over. I really want to pick Miss St. in this game at home, but I think I'd stick with the over which was 50 according to Whitby.

"The president of Mississippi State, Mark E. Keenum, canceled Thursday’s classes months ago in anticipation of a night game against No. 3 Louisiana State. Early Wednesday morning, fans began lining a grassy area known as the Junction, waiting for a chapel bell to ring at 5 p.m. so they could officially begin tailgating more than 24 hours before kickoff."

Good to see they care about education over at Miss. St. As for the game I still can't get the idea of LSU holding Oregon under 100 yards a couple of weeks ago out of my head. I think they overcome the Thursday night road team hex in front of a huge crowd. Also LSU is 18-1 against Miss St. since 1992. I also think the over is a solid play Jeff, but I'm sticking to just LSU giving the points.

Good call on this one, I followed your lead, I was debating the over too but cooler heads prevailed.

Anything standing out Saturday?

I actually had a great week with the NFL so I might just stick with that again, NCAA has been giving me some trouble so far.

I do like Boise State -20 at Toledo. Boise State had a week off and took down Georgia by two TDs in the previous game. The only reason this line is this low is because Toledo is fresh off a close game with Ohio State. Two things to remember though. No.1: it's unlikely Toldeo can muster up that kind of energy after getting so close to OSU. No. 2: OSU is no Boise State right now.

The only way Boise can stay in the National Title picture is to beat the pants off teams and that's what they do. This will be another message sent that they can destroy a team that played Ohio State close.

As for Saturday I like the over in the Stanford-Arizona game alot. Arizona always plays well at home and should put up some points and you know Luck will get his. I will post more Saturday stuff late tonight.

Rich, what's your thought on baltimore -5.5 at Tennessee. Heavy action is on Baltimore yet the line hasn't moved. Is this a trap?

I was looking at that too man, definitely has the feel of a trap Baltimore just beat the shit out of the Steelers and Tennessee sucks so thats a strange line, I would wait until the last minute to see if the line moves anywhere.

And I like your thoughts on Boise State too, I'm actually toying with the idea of betting Boise State every week no matter what for the rest of the year haha like you said they have to win big every week and I think they can. There is no way you dont come out up at the end of the year.

Boise State is last year's Ohio St. There's always one team you can ride the first few weeks of the season to some sweet victories....

Bull, I know you will love this one, but my lock of the week is the Bills -3 @home vs Raiders. Raiders coming off a short week and flying to the East coast. Raiders also showed no pass defense whatsoever.... Give me the Bills all the way here.

You guys got lucky on that one. Boise up 18 and was just running out the clock but they ended up runing it down the field for a TD haha. Final 40-15.

I thought it was done but the selfish second stringers wanted to get theirs. I have lost bets in all kind of ways the last two years, so i won't feel bad about winning this one ugly haha.

Georgia Tech-Kansas over 62 (12:30). Don't let this big number scare you. Kansas' defense is awful. They gave up 42 points to NIU and Georgia Tech's offense is a couple of steps ahead of NIU. I could see Georgia Tech scoring over 50 in this one. My thought is that this game hits 40 by the half and ends up somewhere around the 48-21 range.

Nebraska -17 over Washington (3:30). I'm a sucker for revenge games. Nebraska thrashed Washington during the regular season last year 56-21, but then lost in the Holiday Bowl, 19-7. There is no doubt Nebraska has had this game circled on the calendar and will be fired up. The home crowd is going to want a big result this week and Nebraska needs a good win to solidify its ranking. Look for nebraska to jump out big early and never look back.

Stanford-Arizona over 56 (10:45). At first glance Stanford -9 looks great in this game, but it's a trap. Arizona plays great at home and I saw a stat where they haven't lost by more than 7 points since 2006. Stanford will score points and to keep it close Arizona will need to do the same. I can see this being another over that goes down to the wire, but paying off.

Here's to hoping the good start continues!

(Looking forward to hearing your Sunday picks Rich. Any chance you talk me out off playing the Cowboys big at -3?)

Smorg CFB record: 3-2. NFL 0-1-1

I have been looking at tonight's NC State-Cincinnati game for a while and still haven't gotten a great reado on it. Both teams are 2-1, but have been unimpressive at times. Right now the public is on Cincy but I am going the other way right now thanks to these numbers: NC State is 9-0-1 against the spread in its last 10 thursday night games, including cincy last year where they were an underdog and were up 23 with four minutes to go. Also, NC State is 5-0 in their last 5 against the spread against the Big East.
The line has been posted as Cincy -7.5 or -8 at some places but the site I use has it as -7. I am waiting in hopes the line moves to -7.5, but even if it doesn't I will be making a small play on NC State to cover the points.

I will be back to post tomorrows game as well as the weekend games. One I love right now is Baylor -20 at home against Rice. Baylor's offense has been killing it and I think they win by 35-40.

Way off on my Thursday night play and that dropped me to 3-3 in college plays posted on the smorg. I'm hoping to rebound today and got a few picks I really like.

Notre Dame -7 over Pittsburgh: Sorry Ryan, the mush is on. Notre Dame has way more talent than Pitt. The only reason this line is so close is because the Irish have shot themselevs in the foot time after time with turnovers. I think they got over the hump last week against Michigan State and continue to roll here in this 12 p.m. game. The Notre Dame offense has too many weapons for Pitt to stay in this game.

UCLA-Oregon State over 52.5: Just a day ago this line was at 50. I still like it after the increase. UCLA has a couple of offensive playmakers back in the lineup and Oregon State is down a couple of starting defenders so points will be had.

Baylor -20.5 over Rice: I mentioned this one earlier and it is my favorite play of the weekend. Baylor is racking up points this season and is at home against an oppoenent in Rice who stands no chance. I think this line hits by halftime. Depending on how well I do on my earlier bets, this one could be a big play for me.

I teased Michigan to -3 and Michigan St to -14.5. Then I took Michigan and Michigan St half time spreads. See if we can get off to a good start and continue rolling throughout the day.....

I forgot to mention I parlayed the regular spreads. All Michigan bets hit. Now I took:

Teased Ohio St and Alabama
Parlayed Regular Spread
Parlayed Ohio St, Alabama, and Okla St. Over Half time spreads.
