I'm not really that excited about the 2nd GI Joe movie.
The first one was pretty good for a popcorn action flick. Some really dumb parts and Cobra Commander stunk though.
But I thought it would be interesting seeing their casting for the 2nd one compared to the toys.

So far Channing Tatum is the only one returning as Duke.

But they added Dwayne THE ROCK Johnson as Roadblock.

So far it sounds like Duke and all new Joes. They didn't try re-signing anyone else to the 2nd movie.

He did Heroes...and then it was canned. Keep giving him parts where he doesn't talk (Darth Maul, Toad from the first X-Men movie, and Snake Eyes) and we'll be happy.

As long as we get some Snake Eyes....

The Rock has been all over the place, with GI Joe, Fast Five, and Wrestlemania next year. Supposedly he might be a surprise run in at Summerslam, but I don't think he'll appear till Survivor Series.

wow look at this bullshit

from joblo.com
Quote:
In what can only be considered the most bizarre marketing decision ever, Paramount has decided to delay the release of G.I. JOE: RETALIATION for nine months to add post-production 3D.

G.I. JOE: RETALIATION was scheduled to open on June 29th but will now hit theaters on March 29, 2013.

According to a Paramount executive, “We’re going to do a conscientious 3D job because we’ve seen how it can better box office internationally. Jim Cameron did all of Titanic‘s 3D in post – and look how well that movie turned out.”

While the quality of 3D conversions has been poor at best, this is going to be the future of Hollywood releases. Asia is the largest growing population in the world and they gobble up Hollywood blockbusters like no one except Americans. THE AVENGERS, BATTLESHIP, and PROMETHEUS were all scheduled to open internationally before domestically to maximize their profits. The more likely rationale for this move was that Paramount feared released their film a week before THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN hits theaters.

I can easily say this seems like the dumbest decision in recent Hollywood history. G.I. JOE: RETALIATION is currently the fourth most popular upcoming movie on this website. I predict this will end up hurting the movie more than helping it as movie-goers question if the movie was just so bad that it needed extra time to fix it.

I hope none of you pre-ordered tickets.

I hope it flops just because of that. Adding 3D in post might be the worst Holllywood trend in years. I still fucking hate 3D but in a way they have a point. Enough people will see a movie in 3D with the upped ticket price and then the 3D haters will see it in a normal theatre. I have yet to see a movie with the 3D glasses that I've felt benefited from it. With the exception of Avatar which was basically a worthless movie without the 3D.

March huh? Honestly I see the 3D thing as an excuse. So lets think about this for a second. GI Joe was to come out what, a week before Spiderman, and then Batman like two weeks later? And this is after week after week of big movies before it.

I think the March thing is the key here. Hunger Games was a March release and look what that movie did. It was a summer blockbuster released before the summer officially even began. The thing made tons of money because it had zero competition. So they move GI Joe out of the busy summer, literally tack on 3D and release it before anything huge gets released. No way it'll flop. I'm not saying it'll do Hunger Games money, it won't, but HG proved there is an audience no matter what time of the year it is.

edit: ha I didn't even read the full quote I guess, they mentioned Spiderman too.

I love good 3D. You ever been on that Terminator ride? It's been a few years, but I remember it being awesome. Crazy T-2000 in your face with his stretch armstrong neck. Awesome! Or how about that Muppet one. Also awesome. Don't even make me bring out Captain EO. Maybe that's why I love my 3DS so much. I bet they never imagined 3D could be nostalgic so early in it's new life.

3D is awesome.

I think it helps that I don't give two flying shits about GI Joe featuring Channing Tatum. Delay it for 10 years for all I care. I'd probably be 100 times more interested in checking it out if the 3D is well done. I mean, it's a dumb summer action flick, make it as bombastic as you can. Just don't fuck it up.

I too love 3D now thanks to 3DS. I haven't seen a 3D movie since Avatar and I'd love to now, especially since I'm over the headache stage and can look at that shit all day now. Hahaha.

I've seen a lot and none were even close to Avatar.
In fact, most of them were shitty. Most times its not done properly though. James Cameron took a long time to do what he did.

Avengers had some cool stuff in 3D. But it didn't make the movie any better like the 3D in Avatar.
I try seeing 2D whenever possible but sometimes the timing doesn't work out and I'm forced to do 3D. I always regret it.

The 3D in Avatar was fucking crazy. I don't think anything will live up to that for quite a while.

Ah. I'm also thinking that maybe 3D is a better fit for video games too. Even in Avatar, the humans always have the appearance of cardboard cut outs. Real time 3D in 3D stereoscopic games don't seem to have that look. It appears much more natural. But yeah, I haven't seen like any 3D films to really judge like you can.
