Is my Plus going to expire if I don't sign in?

I think you have until the end of the month before you can do your free month. I think. Not sure how the free month of plus is working.

I can't stand the PS3, I tried to get my welcome back games, neither downloaded. I just saw what Nick said on the previous page, so I'm going to try that. SYSTEM UPDATE. I feel like everytime I turn this piece of shit on I have to fucking update it. So goddamn annoying, I bought this thing for FF 13 and Home, both were absolute busts. I be sticking to my Nintendo and thats it from now on.

That worked, I picked Infamous and Wipeout. I'm pretty sure its gong to take 3 weeks to download both games.

I don't know if it's a Playstation Plus thing, but all my updates download while my PS3 is turned off now. Saves me a hell of a lot of hassle. The new update was ready to go when I turned on my PS3 today. Oh and I never seem to have any problems with download speed when I am wired. I don't know if you have your system directly plugged in to the router, but it helps a lot. Sucks that I have to drag the system downstairs, but what else can you do?

Pretty sure that's a plus feature.

I too hate how every time I want to play PS3 I feel like I need to download something. Drives me nuts. Forget throwing a new game in there, it's always a disaster. Took me 20 minutes to finally start EA Active the night I first decided to play it. It's absurd.

I can't wait for those system updates the next time I turn on my PS3.... It's going to be like installing service pack 3 over here.

Oh yeah, it's definitely a beta. I am liking it, but it's really hard to get a good game going right now. I'm sure it will improve.

edit: Ok, just did a game of team deathmatch and it was awesome. I love the little things they do to change things up. Like, a certain enemy will be targeted, or everyone's usernames will become visible so you can see where everyone is. There's a lot of little stuff going on that really makes it stand out compared to other shooters.

Redid the thermal pasting today and popped on Red Dead again to test. Wow what a difference. I want to do another test tomorrow because I want to make sure the fan is actually working because it was so quiet! It never once even raised the speed above the idle (but I only played for 5 minutes). I even stuck my head right next to it, and the hard drive was louder than the fan. I could feel air at the back, so I know it was working....

So I wanted to pass this tidbit on to everyone else who is contemplating this. Get thermal paste which is non-conductive (very important!!!), and use a lot more than you think you should. Trust me on this, it isn't like a CPU heatsink as there can be a pretty significant gap between the heatsinks and the GPU and CPU. When I removed the heatsink and looked at my previous attempt, there was only a very small portion of the heatsinks which made contact with the thermal paste on the previous attempt (in which I used the more advanced method of using a very thin layer that you hand spread across the CPU/GPU surface, which is the preferred method for modern CPUs, assuming you know how to properly place the heatsink on top without creating air bubbles/pockets). The fact that there was so little paste on the heatsink when I removed it, shows that there is a pretty significant gap, so I went with the old school, put a huge glop in the middle and when you press the heatsink down, it will force the paste to spread out from the middle (with excess spilling over the sides, which is why you need non-conductive paste to do this). Again, it seems to have made a SIGNIFICANT difference so far, but I want to do a little more testing (get some real play time on it).

So I applied new thermal paste to mine today.... Worked great for the first hour of watching Breaking Bad on blu-ray. I don't think the fan came on at all in the first 20 minutes, then it kicked in on low. By the time I was partway into the 2nd episode it was back up to high.
I don't know if I didn't use enough paste or it's performing normally..... Tearing it apart wasn't really that bad, except I broke a bit of one of the plastic ribbon holders. It still works just fine, but I don't want to be tearing it apart anymore than I have to.

Yeah, ribbon cables are really the worst, as you have just seen. They are so delicate especially after a few years of ageing... Once you have worked with them a bit, you start feeling a little more confident with handling them, but the moment you become complacent they will "blow up" on you do something like split down the middle or crack off the end.

Summer Sale happens next week on PSN. Pretty solid list. I may be on a no game buying freeze, BUT there are always loop holes like the 20 something dollars already sitting in my PSN wallet.

Here's the list

Quote:
Back to the Future: The Game – Full Series (Sale price $13.99; Plus price $9.79; Regular price $19.99)
Chime Super Deluxe (Sale price $6.99; Plus price $4.89; Regular price $9.99)
Dead Space Extraction (Sale price $10.49; Plus price $7.34; Regular price $14.99)
Hard Corps: Uprising (Sale price $10.49; Plus price $7.34; Regular price $14.99)
Pac-Man Championship Edition DX (Sale price $6.99; Plus price $4.89; Regular price $9.99)
PixelJunk Shooter 2 (Sale price $6.99; Plus price $4.89; Regular price $9.99)
Risk: Factions (Sale price $6.99; Plus price $4.89; Regular price $9.99)
Shank (Sale price $6.99; Plus price $4.89; Regular price $9.99)
Scott Pilgrim (Sale price $6.99; Plus price $4.89; Regular price $9.99)
Swarm (Sale price $6.99; Plus price $4.89; Regular price $9.99)
Tales from Space: About a Blob (Sale price $10.49; Plus price $7.34; Regular price $14.99)

I will be grabbing Pacman and Scott Pilgrim for certain. I've actually been waiting on them to hit 5 dollars and now it's finally happened. I really wish I waited on Contra. Actually, I wish I just didn't buy Contra. That game kind of sucks ass.

I'm debating Back to the Future. It's every episode for 10 dollars. I played the demo for like ONE minute and I honestly couldn't get a good read from it. It's weird, it has decent art and it looks and sounds like BTTF, but it's clearly a budget game despite actually not being a budget game. It shows big time through animation. Maybe TellTale just has awful animators. Anyway, I'm on the fence about it still.

Shit man, I went nuts on the 'ol PSN tonight. Burned through the funds that have been sitting in my wallet for months. Bought Pacman DX, Scott Pilgrim and the entire Back to the Future series. I've been waiting for Pacman and Pilgrim to hit 5 dollars a piece, so it's cool to finally get them. I debated on Back to the Future because it'll really blow if I hate episode 1 and have no desire to move onto the other ones, but I'll give it a shot. Either way, they're only 10 dollars for the entire package so its whatever. Nate, about how long are those episodes?

Also, Golden Axe has replaced SoR2 as the free Genesis game of the month (ComixZone is next month) and I snatched up the Catherine demo.

And I will probably never play any of this. I'm still sitting on a bunch of uninstalled minis, Midevil PS1, and InFamous. PS+ just makes it so easy to stock up on shit.

Back to the future episodes are about 2-3 hours tops for each one.
