Yeah I think I just did what you said, put like a shitload of paper bags filled with magazines out on the curb.
If I lived in NP at the time and threw them in my RecycleBank can I would have gotten a shitload of points to spend on things. You should do that Phil.

In fact, I haven't checked that in a long time. I could be cashing in points for rewards.

I've never checked our points before. You get anything good for that? I dont even think I know how to check them to be honest. I remember Dem set it up when we first got the cans but we never really looked into it after that. We must have a shit ton by now.

There's some good stuff on there. We got like 2 Home Depot cards last year, 10 bucks each and we used them when we were getting buying stuff for our Back Room. But those kinds of things take up all your points. There's a lot of little cheap things too.
Its recyclebank.com. Then you login and check out your points and what you can cash them in for. I have 3900 points right now. A $10 Best Buy gift card is 2500 points.

Depending on how many you have you might be able to sell some of them on ebay. Especially the nintendo power stuff.

I plan on bringing them to a local shop and getting some credit for them. I checked eBay, only the old NPs might fetch for a bit, but not enough to make it worth it.

I'd just charge like, 200 for the lot of them, and then have the seperate fee for the shipping. Just weigh and figure out the fees for NA shipping before you make an auction for em.

Still if you can find a place in the city to get credit for em, then that's coolio too. I don't know why you're getting rid of them though haha, I'd kill for a nintendo power collection.

I'm going to keep some of the early NPs, but I have two giant bins full of magazines. I'd like to get everything into just one bin, possibly less. They just gotta go. No sense hanging onto them.

I'd buy any of the older nintendo powers if you end up tossing them

Good writeup as always Phil...I love the stories that go along with these. It's true though I mean I still have a ton of old Wizard Magazines and Video game magazines at my parents house and I have some sort of connection to them that makes it hard to toss em all out.

You're not the only one who longed for those shitty Dragon Ball Z and Sailor Moon SNES games. I remember finding the Ranma 1/2 game when I was vacationing in the poconos at a video store up there. I don't think I have ever seen another copy of that game in the wild. The first time I got to play it was in emulation, back when they didn't even have the SNES down. Games ran at like 15 fps. I usually had to turn off some of the layers just to make it playable. I remember playing FFV when the first beta translations were coming out. That 5 minute opening scene took like 20 to get through, but I sucked it up and played it anyway.

I really like that Dreamcast magazine with Claire from RE drawn in the style of Power Stone. Cool beans.

I actually owned the Ranma 1/2 game for a day believe it or not. Well, I didn't, but my brother did. I'm pretty sure SF2 was already out so my brother was hyped on that plus the cool anime art, but he ended up bringing it back to work and getting something else in return (which the replacement actually escapes me). It was a terrible game, but I did remember loving the way it looked. I kind of wish he didn't get rid of it, it would surely be in my collection still. Well, maybe. I sold off a couple of SNES games that I must have been insane to sell like Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Ninja Warriors. Whoops.

Anyway yeah, I finally did play a lot of those games on emus years later. My PC also ran SNES ROMs at a snails pace then too so I didn't play many at first, but I played a ton of NES stuff which ran great. I remember getting a new PC and being able to play all the emulators finally and being blown away. The good old days.

And thanks Stillies, good to know someone else knows what it's like!

Wow, I remember a lot of those. Its weird that I remember stuff YOU drew and not really stuff I drew.
Because our whole little gang would always draw. In fact, didn't we have a Drawing Club. I vaguely remember that in like 5th grade.

I would always draw those war scenarios too. And for some reason now I'm remembering I had my own version of the Zoinks. haha
Maybe I should try to find stuff. I know I have old bins of stuff in my basement but I don't know if I kept old drawings.

Haha that is crazy you remember some of it. I do remember all of us drawing a lot in grade school, like 4th and 5th grade in particular.

And yeah dude dig some of that shit out, it would be cool to see.

I went through 2 bins and couldn't find much. But here is what I found.

1990 Nintendo Calendar
Image

Book covers that my Mom made when I was in 1st Grade (probably 89-90).
Image

I didn't trace these but I looked at small images inside the White Zombie CD and drew them bigger.
Dates say April and May of 1997.
Image

These were definitely done by a Summers. Looks like Jim (Sithlord) signed the top one.
Image

And then just some silly stuff.
My high school Freshman ID. Terrible Picture. Straight outta '97 yo.
Image

My glasses when I was in Kindergarten and 1st Grade.
The ones on the right I still get made fun of for having to this day. They're so tiny.
I know my hands are small but they look big compared to those things. haha
