So last night my heater died again. AGAIN. This is completely ridiculous. I don't even know what to do at this point. I've dumped so much money into this thing it's not even funny. When I called the company I use this morning I asked if she could mail me a sheet with all of the work I've had done and the cost of it. I want to add it all up because I'm pretty sure I'm nearing the 10 grand mark. It's ridiculous.

They're coming out soonish I think to look at it. It's all such bullshit. I had to pack up the girls and go to my parents last night which was such a hassle. I just want to blow my mind up. Somebody just rape me for cryin out loud.

I thought you got a new heater. Isn't there some sort of guarantee on those things?

I've basically built a new heater with all the shit that has been done to it. You'd think you'd get a guarantee, but it's always a "new" thing that breaks so it ends up costing. I'm going nuts. IM GOING NUTS BABYYYYYYY!

When you do get rid of that thing you should have a shamoozal party and we can all destroy it with a sledgehammer.

I think its come to this. The repair guy just left and after I told him how much money I put into the thing he said he couldn't believe it.

So the circuit board almost fried again. Apparently there is ANOTHER leak in the unit which causes a bit of water to splash around and get onto the board. Of course the first time this happened that guy didn't find it. He said if I were to get a new board he'd have to charge the same price because boards aren't covered under a warranty (or some shit). He managed to clean the water off of it and it magically worked again, but of course it's only a matter of time before it gets splashed again. He said all of the repairs we have had done would have all been covered under the warranty if it was them that put the unit in. Basically just saying I've been throwing money down into a pit.

So I have one of their salesman coming out here to basically sell me a new unit. He should be here in the next 10 minutes actually. I'm most likely goingto have to buy a new one.

This is bullshit. I just wanted to pave my driveway this year or get a new fence, and once again this fucking heater stops me from doing those things.

This guy is here making all sorts of noises and being an idiot. I'm ready for him to leave. He's just the sales guy he's not even the repair man.

I'm getting butt raped into buying a 4,000 dollar furnace. No new fence or driveway for me... again. This is the second time my heater has stopped me from doing the driveway.

So recently the news came out in LA that since idiots kept wasting money on bond measures, we'll owe about 11 billion afterwards, and one of the things they wasted money on was:

Putting a heating unit on a 5 story building in BACKWARDS

how the fuck do you put it in backwards?

So my AC died again the other day. AGAIN. Had a dude come out and look at it and he told me the compressor died. I just can't believe something else on it would break. He doesn't fix it because he doesn't have the part but he then hands me a bill for 300 bucks because that's how much it's going to cost. I look at it and I tell him I just can't pay it now and I want to talk to someone.

I had it in my mind the entire time that I wasn't giving them money yesterday. Unfortunately my plan was for them to actually do the work THEN not pay it, instead they didn't do the work and I still told them I wasn't paying it. So in a way I may have just shot myself in the foot because now they can easily just blow me off.

Anyway I told the dude how I've spent 15 grand in 3 years and that I'm just over it, I can't spend any more money on it. He said he would talk to the owner about getting a discount on the work or just waiving it. I get the feeling the owner is not going to waiver it, guy sounds like a penny pincher to the most extreme degree.

So I did call a sales dude I spoke to when I got my furnace. He told me about an energy plan where I would take out a 10 year loan for 10k and that if I did that all future work would be covered and that they'd go through the house and replace a ton of shit and "energy" proof the house. They'd balance the levels so the house was better cooled or heated (instead of it being a million degrees upstairs and cold downstairs when the heater is running for example). Anyway I think I'm just going to do it. It'll apparently cut my energy costs down and I can also get a tax break on it come tax return time. 10 grand sounds like a lot of money, and it is, but its spread over the course of 10 years, where as I just did fucking 15 grand in 3 years and at this rate I'm just going to keep throwing money at nothing. Anyway that guy is coming out to do an energy audit sometime next week. Supposedly I should also be able to roll in the remainder of the money I owe on the furnace into the new loan, or so I think. I don't know if that means the loan then becomes 14k or it stays at 10k and that work is just included in the new contract. I'll find that out Monday I hope.

I'm just done. I can't take this shit anymore. This is the end and the end is in my ac/heater.

man that does sound like a pretty good plan. To bad you didnt know about that before the first problem you had. We should prolly look into something like that bc when the ppl fixed ours last year he said were gonna need a outside unit soon.

I should look into something like that. When I got my back porch changed into an actual room of the house, the heat and AC have a hard time getting to the temperature I set. If its like 100 degrees outside then my house will only get down to 80. The living room and the computer room don't get much circulation so those feel even hotter. And it kills the electric bill with the AC running constantly because it can't get the house any cooler and never turns off. I had someone look at it and he said we just have to adjust it the temp now that we know how cool or hot it can get. So when its really hot outside, I only set the AC to 80 so that it doesnt try getting it any cooler and actually turns off now and then. It blows. I'm hoping for a cooler summer this year. I hate being hot.

He said my only other choice was to get a bigger central air unit but mine is less than 5 years old.

We got a new roof about 2 years ago at my house, and before that we constantly used AC/heating. since we got better insulation we got rid of our AC and don't use the heater much since the temp hardly changes. It's a bitch over summer though because it's always like 85 degrees inside.

Well if you guys seriously want to look at it here are some links

To the actual program info - http://www.njcleanenergy.com/
I'm using these guys to get it set up - http://www.alberservice.com/

It's a NJ run program (New Jersey's Clean Energy), so you don't have to go through Alber service to get the loan and all, but that's just how I'm going through it because they'll do all the paper work and crap for me.

It seems like it could be good. When the dude went up into my attic to see the furnace to measure it and see what could go up there, he was telling me the things they'd do up there under the program. How they'd lay better insulation down and stuff like that. They would even go as far as tearing walls down to insulate them better (but I'm not up for that. I'm not dealing with the destruction of my home right now).

good luck phil. i know you must be close to going homicidal at this point. if you haven't already of course. i wouldn't blame you if there were piles of dead bodies next to your furnace.

I dunno man, hope that its just the compressor and that alber did the job right like they were supposed to. That new system should last you well over the 10 year plan they're trying to sell you.

Not telling you what to do but I changed my heater ac unit when I moved in and it works as it should, you would hope a licensed contractor did the job right unlike the scumbag who did it originally.

Yeah and the furnace is covered under a 10 year warranty, but the AC unit outside is not. So do I continue to fix the stupid thing over and over and hope that eventually it's just "fixed" for good or do I just do this stupid 10 year plan so that I apparently don't have to worry about this shit anymore?

I mean me personally, I would love to just have them fix whats wrong (and it's actually not the compressor, I was wrong, it's the capacitor) and then it be fine. But I'm just up shits creek right now. I feel like I'm completely out of options, and on top of that I also have Dem pushing me on this 10 year thing because she thinks its going to magically solve everything.

I'm still kind of torn, but I just don't know what to do.
