Figured the 3DS was deserving of its own thread (unless it already has one, but I dont think it does).

So anyway, to start the thread, apparently there were video demos of a bunch of classic games running on the hardware and they're all confirmed as real deal products. The list includes

Yoshi's Island, Mega Man 2, The Legend of Zelda (original), Castlevania, Urban Champion, Kid Icarus, Smash Ping Pong, Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros., Tennis, Metroid and Mystery of Murasame Castle.

Looks like there is gonna be a 3D Virtual Console. So, would you rebuy these games to play them in 3D?

My favorites, probably. MM2, Zelda, maybe Mario 1 and 3.

I think I'm more excited about having portable versions of those games, than about the 3d in particular.

I've never heard of this one. I'm kind of intrigued.

I'd probably beat Mega Man 2 if I had it on a portable. That being said, I won't buy Mega Man 2 again on virtual console.

The DS doesn't have an analog nub.

That's kinda what upsets me. The 3DS might have an analog nub, but I hate holding the DS and using the DPad to do things like move and the touchscreen to aim. It's so uncomfortable holding it that way. Either straight up touch screen or straight up traditional controls. Or the touch control has to be really simple quick functions like in Princess Peach.

Bunch of 3DS news happened last night. I don't feel like gathering all the specifics, but it has a confirmed Feb 26th date in Japan, with a March release in EU and NA. The price of the unit in Japan is 300 dollars... pretty fucking steep. I imagine it'll be 250 here in the states, which is still rather pricey. Not many new games were shown (though Mega Man Legends 3 was announced) but there is a video of footage from all the games were already knew about. Most of them look great with a handful of ugly games thrown in (like Ridge Racer).

Oh and there will be a GB and GBC Virtual Console and apparently it's been confirmed that DSi games will transfer over to the 3DS.

I can't believe they announced MML3 and all people are doing is COMPLAINING that it's on the 3DS. wtf. How long have you idiots been waiting for a sequel? Be grateful.

I think I just hate people who play video games. Present company excluded.

"Gamers" can never be satisfied with anything. It's just the sad truth.

On the other hand, the industry wouldn't be the way it is if it wasn't for their need for everything. If gamers were easily satisfied, they wouldn't feel the need to compulsively buy up every video game and no one would be making any money. They can kick and scream all they want but at the end of the day, their money are still leaving their pockets. Like a baby crying, you know he's going to drink from that bottle.

I wouldn't go that far. If people were truly buying up everything that came out all of these companies wouldn't be going out of business, and you wouldn't have people like Activision thinking up ways to charge people for playing multiplayer since gamers actually are just satisfied with playing their CoD and Halos and not moving onto other things.

They just need to come out with the next CoD and the next Halo. The trend now a days is to just take brands that people already play religiously, or used to play religiously, and make the next version of it. Every game is turning into Madden. Looks like John Madden was the genius after all since he figured that formula out 20 years ago.

To Halo's credit there isn't one every year. But yeah, stuff like CoD, Tony Hawk, all the yearly sports games... it has always blown my mind how loyal people are to them. I could see buying one maybe every other year, but yearly is too much.

to be fair to sports games, the past several years EA and 2k have actually put forth an effort to greatly improve them each year. It used to be just a new mode that nobody plays or updated graphics, but now they seem to actually put some time into making them worth buying each year.

Also, can move and shoot at the same time. At least for the Mercenaries game that is.

Official specs from Japan says the battery takes 3.5 hours to charge and only lasts 3-5 hours for 3DS games...

:(

I want the 3DS, but I'm gonna try pretty hard to wait for the 3DS lite. I'm sure it'll be so much nicer.

I'm looking at a lot of the material coming out of the show Nintendo is having over in Japan and good lord this thing has a hell of a line up.

Also, games are going to be the price of PSP games. I knew that was going to happen. I think it's a bad move, especially since people are buying iPads and iTouches and getting plenty of free and cheap games.
