How To Destroy Angels

Trent Reznor has teamed up with his wife, Mariqueen Maandig, and frequent NIN collaborator Atticus Ross to bring this new music project called How To Destroy Angels. Their first single is online now. It sounds like more recent NIN style when they do slower songs, but with female vocals. Pretty interesting.

Cool beans, man. I'm not that into NIN's slower stuff, but I'll definitely check out whatever they put out.

That video was great, but it cut off at the end...did it do the same for you?

I was all set to make a forum thread for this topic and a quick search proved that once again Johnny Manf is a goddamn ninja legend.

Either way this entire project sounds amazing, and my ween is hard. Nine Inch Nails until I die... and before anyone says it, from the 1989 release of Pretty Hate Machine, "Nine Inch Nails is Trent Reznor," as far as I'm concerned that makes this also a NiN project haha.

Fuck it, a few more words from the good doctor.

1) I like how Trent has been really trying to downplay his role with this project, even in press shots and music videos he just sticks to the background, like in The Spaces In Between vid he's just lying dead on the floor for the whole vid, and in a lot of band shots most of the focus is on his wife.

2) I am worried about how well his wife can really perform vocal-wise. Anytime she needs to have a bit of range in a song they have to auto-tune her, and any other time she's basically just softly "singing" into the mic. I have a feeling we've already seen everything she can do in two songs.

3) That said, Trent's wife is a goddamn hottie. Hell, I'd bang her in a goddamn heartbeat. Good for Trent.

yeah my buddy sent links to these last week. the video for spaces in between is pretty awesome. its basically the antithesis of what goes on in a video today: well contructed shots that are allowed to play out.

im not sure if im a total fan of her vocals, but im defiantely going to be checking it out.

Honestly, I don't think her vocals are shnazzy either. I'm sure what we've heard so far will basically be more of the same for the rest of the album.

I'm more hyped about the instrumentation which is practically 100% Trent Reznor melt-in-your-mouthness. Some of it even brings me back to the Fragile era stuff.

haha, that has been my speculation for quite some time. Anytime she deviates from the whispering in the slightest way they have to autotune her voice, which makes me think she is not a strong singer.

Either way the songs are still pretty awesome.

That was kinda boring to be honest, as suspected she whispered throughout the whole thing. The first and last songs are the standouts for me, but we already heard those before.
