Shamoozal.com - Smorgas Board

So I'm trying to design a banner for MAGFest. It's going to be a huge 6 foot monster that I'll have standing behind my table. Here are two ideas I put together tonight... I might do another one too.



Just one of the three main characters sort of standing around.



This one has more "action" in it and proves I've probably been playing too much Phoenix Wright lately, though as my wife pointed out, it's not really something the characters would do. Though I tried to play up the hatred between Jacquo and Plum, while making Grey the obvious "leader."

Any thoughts? Do they suck? What would you like to see?

heres my crits:

1) grey is giving us his ass. he could at least be front 3-4. im not sure what jac is doing. giving the thumbs up? maybe give him a beer bottle?

2) i agree with demi. i don't think the characters would ever do any of those poses. its not their nature and it could be misleading.

I love the Phoenix Wright one but I think if you are going to do that then I hink the other characters should do video game poses too...like maybe have one do some street fighter poses or do a falcon punch something like that...but overall I like where you are goin with this...I need a banner soon too.

I'm with Frank on this one, I like the low angle of the first one, just not with Grey's ass in our faces. I too can't tell what Jacquo is doing but (like Frank suggested) a beer in his hand would be kickass.

Beer might not make it children friendly though. If you care about that sort of thing.

Awesome, but if I can say one thing, it's that Plum feels a little cramped in the corner. The side of her face is creating a wicked tangent on the border. If you just moved her head/body to the left a tad I think it'd be perfect.

Just IMHO though.

Ditto on Dusk's comment. Jacquo is enough out of frame that I think it works but Plum's head placement still seems a bit cramped. I dunno how easy to manipulate it is at this point, so don't stress over it, it looks great and most people would not even think about tangents, haha.

Wish I could go to the event!

I tried to adjust Plum to the best of my ability. It's very hard trying to fit all three of them in there and still trying to get them to fill up as much room as possible... which is why I wanted to go with just Grey originally. I still have some playing around to do, but I need to move on from this banner so I can move onto the next one,then the postcards and then finally to the printer... which has to happen by like tomorrow night latest.

make the logo bigger. make it totally fill that space up there as much as possible.
