I was just telling Phil about this in the WWE thread but I figured I should make a topic here in case anyone else was interested.

Hogan has a new book coming out about his non-wrestling life.

Quote:
Hulk Hogan, born Terry Bollea, burst onto the professional wrestling scene in the late seventies and went on to become a world wrestling champion many times over. From humble beginnings, this giant of a man escaped a pre-ordained life of dock and construction work in Port Tampa, Florida, to become one of the most recognizable celebrities on the planet. He did it through sheer will, grit, determination, and a drive to always go over the top and do more than what others thought possible. From the outside, his story was one of a charmed life—he was at the top of his career, had a wonderful and loving family, and a lifelong fan base who worshipped him. Of course he had his up and downs—including hints of steroid abuse and his falling out with WWE and Vince McMahon—but it’s been the last two years that have tested Hogan more than any other in his lifetime.
In 2007, while riding the massive success of his VH1 reality show, Hogan Knows Best, his son Nick was involved in a tragic car accident that left his best friend in critical condition. Then Linda, his wife, left him after 23 years of marriage, his beloved daughter Brooke blamed
him for the breakup and his son went to jail. The tabloid media had a field day. When unflattering jailhouse conversations between him and his son were released to the press the tabloids were in a frenzy. The sudden turmoil and tragedy surrounding Hogan took its toll. He fell into a deep depression, seeing no way out, until one fate ful phone call.
In My Life Outside the Ring, Hogan will unabash edly recount these events, revealing how his new found clarity steadied him during the most difficult match of his life—and how he emerged from the battle feeling stronger than ever before.

I usually get wrestling books, but I'm more interested in his life during his career, not after. I'll wait and see what one of you guys says about it before picking it up.

here's some incentive to check out the book.

WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan says he had his finger on the trigger of a gun and was about to kill himself when he received a phone call from a concerned celebrity friend.

The New York Daily News has published quotes from Hulk's new book "My Life Outside the Ring," where he describes hit rock bottom after the nasty breakup with his wife of 23 years and coping with Nick's car accident that put Nick in jail and left family friend John Graziano brain-damaged.

Hulk says he did everything he could to keep his family together. "I practically begged her, 'Please, don't file. Our son's just had this accident -- if we do this now, it'll make us look like the Britney Spears family. Please, don't file for divorce.'" Hogan calls Linda an abusive alcoholic who once threatened to beat Nick with a wine bottle. Hulk says the extend of Linda's crazy side was never really seen on their "Hogan Knows Best" VH1 reality show because "There were plenty of times when Linda would lose it, but no one wanted to see that kind of ugliness on TV."

Hogan then describes a darker chapter in his life, where he almost committed suicide. Hulk said one day while filming NBC's "American Gladiators," he downed a heavy cocktail of rum and the anti-anxiety medication Xanax. Later in the day, he received a phone call from co-host Laila Ali, daughter of boxing great Muhammad Ali, who was concerned for him after noticing he seemed distracted at work. Hogan said in the book that he had reached for a gun and put his finger on the trigger when Ali called.

I assume its a little bit embellished but its probably not that far fetched. I dont think Ali called him right as he was about to pull the trigger. What kind of luck is that? I do believe that he might have considered killing himself though.

All this crazy shit happened in a short period of time. He got divorced, Nick got into a car accident that put his friend in a coma, the family sued them over it, Hogan was caught on tape talking bad about the dude in the coma and basically blaming him, Nick went to prison, his wife started banging the 19 year old pool boy, he lost his house to her, the pool boy was driving around in Hogan's cars, then those pictures of him rubbing Brooke's ass came out and everyone made fun of him, I think he fought with Brooke for a while before all that, then he had to have back surgery and couldnt wrestle at Wrestlemania.

Hogan's had it rough the past couple years.

The book starts right off with Hogan talking about how he wanted to kill himself 4 months after Nick's car accident when he was about to get divorced and sued for more money than he ever made in wrestling by the family of the kid in the coma from the accident. Apparently he just sat in a bathroom staring into a mirror with a gun to his head and took Xanax and drank Captain Morgan right out of the bottle.

It would have been great if Warrior appeared in the mirror to snap him back to reality.
