PC gaming is more niche market. They're probably trying to expand the market. You have basically hardcore PC gamers and your casual internet flash game/snood players. There isn't too much in between. I'm not sure if you count online poker as PC gaming or not.
And with PC games, you always have to do some sort of tweaking. More often than not, you have to do some sort patching or self configuring. (Not so much with Blizzard games) And that is part of the appeal because you don't have those options of customization with consoles. I love the fact that I can always configure my keyboard and mouse to whatever configuration I want. I can't do that on consoles. Then there's the modding community. That's another thing that makes PC gaming unique.
