I didn't feel like looking to see if this thread already existed, but I have jury duty tomorrow morning for the third year in a row and it sucks. Each time I go, I get closer to having to sit on a jury for an actual trial. I hate being a good citizen.

I've been dismissed 3 times from juries because I have worked with the NSA, DoD ISS, and FBI due to work... Nothing puts a defense attorney on alert for bias then some of those previous 3 letter words.

Luckily they didn't need any jurors, but there was a pretty nasty storm that went through the Metroplex, so I just spent the past 5 hours soaking wet and freezing cold. Its a good thing I took the DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit), because I couldn't see what lane I was in, and downtown Dallas was a mess.

Now my cell phone battery runs out in a few hours, because it got wet from all that damn rain yesterday. I tried the whole rice in a bag thing but its still messed up.

I feel your pain about Jury Duty. It's awful.

I think I wrote this story on here before but whatever. I was one of the first called up and every question the judge asked I would raise my hand and give some lame excuse. Finally the Judge had enough and said "You don't want to be here do you?" and I said "Not really." And she said "Fine, you can go" and everyone laughed at me on the way out. I didn't care because I got to go the hell home.

They probably laughed because you said what they were all thinking. When I was checking in, the dude in front of me was told that he didn't need to be there and that they sent him a letter telling him the same thing, but he never got it. The look on his face was priceless, because he took off work to be there. I was at the Petit Courthouse, so it was just for traffic tickets, which nobody shows up for anyway, so we all got to go home within an hour and a half of being there.

So I got my papers the other day and I've been summoned for shitty ass Jury Duty again. This is the third time in my life, and I'm sick of it. My wife has never been summoned ever. EVER. What the hell.

So I'm finally out of my jury duty service this time. I had to call back a total of three times and yesterday they finally let me off the hook. Good lord.

I'd just tell them straight out, "no one is innocent and I'm a fan of the death penalty."

They cannot let a juror go into the stands with that kind of mentality. Can they?

Well it's a year later and I have to deal with this again. Am I the only person that gets this shit yearly?

I have been getting jury duty every year for 3 years in a row. I usually get it around this time too, but now when I get it I can get out it of because soon I will no longer be a resident of Dallas county and I will be a full time student. I don't know how Jersey works, but in Texas if you have kids to take care of you can get out of it, and seeing as you have newborn twins you might be able to pull that off.

People in Texas used to be able to get out of being selected for jury duty by not registering to vote, because that was how they picked people, but now if you have a drivers license and you fit the other criteria you can get summoned.

Yeah basically what Jim said. And it's long and boring, even if you don't make the jury. I hate it so much.

Mandy was just saying how she never got a notice for jury duty before and literally less than a week later, BAM! There it is in the mail.
She has to call one Monday in February and see if she's been selected. Maybe her doctor can get her out of it for pregnancy. haha

I probably said this somewhere else in this thread but fuck it. I only got a notice once and it was when I was going to college full time in the summer so that got me out of it. Haven't got a notice since then. Probably 10 years ago. Jesus, I just realized this June will mark 7 years since I graduated college.
