considering the error was on them, you should be able to make them remove the issues from your credit report. if you file a grievance with the BBB, which you can do online, it could actually get them to do that. It may take a while, but if you got your credit back, that would be sweet.

so i'm giving comcast the heave-ho today. verizon is coming to hook up FIOS. i've heard good and bad about fios, but i have good and plenty bad to say about comcast so its worth checking them out. plus it looks like im going to be saving 30-40 beans a months. i'll take it.

Verizon is nice, the channel changes are a little rough to begin with but its a solid service.

this message is brought to you by fios. hah

the only thing that sucks about it so far is that i have ot use their router. i just bought a pretty fancy pants router a few months ago, and i'm not sure how i can bypass theirs to use mine. on my old one, i would connect at 144 to sometimes 300. this one taps out at 54. i want my speeds.

another caveat with fios: they dont have FX ondemand which slightly blows. however, so far im enjoying the service.

SO

i go out to my nearby comcast store to return their fucking equipment. i'm driving there thinking "what else on my bill are they goign ot fuck up?" i know i'm not going to be able to just leave this easy. i pull into the parking lot and its the curve ball i didn't expect. that location, that ive been to before, is closed from damage form hurricane irene...which was over two momths ago. i now have to drive to jersey city to get rid of this fucking horse shit. that is maybe a 30-40 min drive at least once way. WHAT.

i just cant get out.

Comcast's onDemand is much better. I'm not big on that service though so I never cared.

guess who just gave me a call? comcast. the robot on the phone said that a technician will be out tomorrow to install my service. clearly, i did not sign up for service. the best part is they called my cell and not my house number which means they didnt call me by accident. i hope they come here tomorrow, because no oen will be here to answer the door. what a bunch of disorganized buffoons.

Frank, you should be able to use your router that you bought without problems. At worst, you connect your router's WAN port to the LAN port of their router (you may need to use a crossover cable, but just about all modern equipment supports MDI/MDI-X cable detection). Set your router to use DHCP for the WAN connection and it should work. You will probably want to turn off the wireless on their router if you do this since all it will do is add more noise on the 2.4GHz frequencies, but if you are using the 5GHz frequencies only on the new one, it won't matter as much. Not everything can use the 5GHz, the Wii/PS3/Xbox360/DS all use 2.4GHz.

i have a linksys 4200. this may sound silly but i'm assuming the WAN port on my router is the "internet in"? hah. i'm a noob, but i'm trying to learn.

This is more so about tv in general. My latest promotion ended so I started slicing this morning because I don't even watch half of these channels anymore. I slowed the internet down from 25/25 to 15/5 too, saving 40 bucks a month. The lady was like what do you use your internet for, answer, the smorg. haha I do all of my internetting on my droid pretty much.

Showtime and and Epix, I've never watched epix yet pay for it every month. Showtime is what it is, I watch more stuff on HBO Starz and Encore.

And Phil, my I don't do much on the internet anymore. I read Forums, thats really it.

Looking back through this thread I can't believe i've been cable free for almost 6 months now. I hardly miss it at all, you can buy a lot of dvd's for the $ I was paying per month.

I don't remember the last time I watched something on cable. I think my parents might have had basic channels back home at some point but they got rid of it. I don't think I've watch cable in the last 6+ years.

If I didn't watch local sports, I could do without cable. It would suck for a little bit, but I would definitely survive.

See, I'd never leave Fios to go back to comcast, I don't miss comcast one bit. Unless they pulled CSN away from us, then I'd probably just get rid of cable and start listening to games. I like both radio crews of the Flyers and Phillies more then the tv crews anyway.
