This morning I was called downstairs because two of my car doors and my trunk were standing wide open. Right away I knew someone had got in there, because the glove box was open and everything in the center console was sitting in the driver seat. Luckily I don't keep anything of real value in my car, but I'm pretty sure they took my flashlight I use for work and could have possibly written down my Social Security number and checking account number. Im pretty sure I forgot to lock it when I came home from getting some food, so none of the windows were broken and there weren't any other signs of forced entry. Now I have to pay for fraud alert, so nobody can steal my identity, and I have to get a new car battery some time soon since the interior lights were left on for a few hours. Things definately could have been a lot worse, so I'm not too upset about this, but it still mucked up my day.

It has happened to me before, it makes you feel so violated that someone you don't know was rooting around in all your personal documents. Ahhhh, the joys of city living.

thats terrible. i remember one night i left a really old laptop that wouldnt even turn on without being plugged in. of course the next day someone had smashed out my back window with a trashcan to take it. 300$ to get the window fixed. i would have paid them 50$ and given them the laptop not to smash my window.

That really sucks, man. You get such a sinking feeling in your stomach to know someone ruined your property and took your stuff.

I don't remember if I already posted this...it may have been shortly before I started writing on the Smorg, but in my junior year in college I actually woke up to the noise of my car being burglarized.

It was weird, because it actually wasn't that loud, but I heard a couple of dull thumps coming from outside my window. We had really good parking at my school, so my car was right outside of my complex. Lo and behold I look out the window and there is this guy basically trying to jimmy open my trunk with a couple of blunt objects.

So, like an idiot, I ran outside and started yelling "WHAT THE muck, WHAT THE muck ARE YOU DOING" like a maniac. I could have yelled this from the safety of my locked apartment, but no. So when I get down there he's suddenly waaay bigger than he appeared to be, and he looks up at me like "Seriously, what is this guy going to do."

So he takes his blunt objects, one was some kind of hard plastic traffic cone and another was a big pointy stake you'd put in the ground to mark off construction or something, and starts threatening me with them, tells me to get inside or he'll kick the shit out of me, etc.

I pussed the muck out and backed up into my apartment and luckily the guy ran off.

But I thought it was so mucking strange. It seemed so weird to me that he'd try to break into a car right outside my window. And weirder that I would try to confront him about it. And the strangest thing was that I was so jacked up on adrenaline things seemed to be happening in this weird slow motion, and yet right after I had NO memory of what this guy looked like. So when I called campus safety I was like "Uhh, he was a...white male...brown hair."

muck these people.

At least they didn't break anything. I got my window smashed and had to pay $80 to get it fixed. They stole some of my CDs and my sun glasses. Those bastards... I really doubt whoever stole my stuff is going to want to listen to Lamb of God. I wish they hadn't taken that one...

A lot of people I know car hop (steal anything in unlocked cars) but I can proudly say I've never done it and I've even caught a few people sneaking around my neighbors cars. This is such disgusting invasion, people who car hop need a serious ass whooping.

I think the people who boost tires are worse than the car hoppers. I've actually never even heard of a car hopping up in our part of the Burn.

Also if you leave your car unlocked you only have yourself to blame if your shit gets stolen.
