This show is bumming me out. There are moments of greatness, but after reading the comic, it feels like a watered down copy. Which sucks.

I haven't given up yet, but this season was a pretty big letdown for me.

Dude I love that it's different, it's like 2 stories with one awesome set of characters. Also I love how perfectly they portrayed drunk people, especially the "I love you drunk" Shane.

It's just that nothing is shocking on this show, and I am constantly amazed at how messed up and unapologetic the comic is. The show is too black and white.

hahaha, like I said, I'm holding out for the second season, but so far, it's been really hit or miss.

i guess im glad i didnt read the comic then, cause im enjoying the hell out of it. movies/shows seem to never live up to what you would imagine they would be. i never read harry potter..and im glad cause i have enjoyed the movies and couldn't say one way or the other if anything was wrong with them.

I see where Nate is coming from, I've really enjoyed the show so far and I'm looking forward to another season.

At the same time, the comic absolutely blew my mind with some of the things that happened. I have a feeling they're diverging a bit because theres just no way they can get away with most of what goes on in the comic.

I was about 2-3 episodes into the show before I started reading the comic so I kind of love them both. I think I love the comic more but I think I find it easier to also love the show cause I watched a bit of it first.

What an awesome finale. Thats how its done.
It had the big moment at the end and it was really well done. Thats what I like to see in finales if its not some big time cliffhanger.

From Nate's comments it seems like another reason why I'm glad I don't read.
I thought this 6 episode first season was terrific. I have nothing to compare it to so I can't be let down.

September 2011 is a long ways off though.

First bit of casting news for Season 2.

from tvline.com
Quote:
Walking Dead viewers, get ready to meet Otis.

In the first piece of casting news for the spooktacular AMC series’ sophomore run, TVLine has learned exclusively that Pruitt Taylor Vince has landed the recurring role of Otis, a foreman at Hershel’s Farm, where much of the Season 2 action is set to take place.

For the uninitiated (aka those unfamiliar with the Walking Dead graphic novels), Vince’s character is described as good-natured and polite, this despite the rather harrowing (read: near-deadly) circumstances under which he first meets Rick, Lori et al.

This past TV season, Vince enjoyed an extended arc on The Mentalist, playing Internal Affairs agent J.J. LaRoche. Prior to that, his TV resume included Deadwood (as the murderous Mose Manuel) and Murder One (where he won a Guest Actor Emmy for his turn as serial killer Clifford Banks). His big-screen credits include Charlize Theron’s Monster and L.A. Confidential.

While you’re here, Deadheads, check out this “video diary” from the first day of production on Season 2, which premieres this fall. I spy no spoilers, lest you consider the RV overheating to be one.

from tvline.com
Quote:
Lauren Cohan is joining the zombie resistance.

The alum of Supernatural, Vampire Diaries and Chuck has landed a pivotal role on AMC’s The Walking Dead.

Cohan will recur as Maggie Greene, the sharp, self-reliant daughter of farm owner Hershel Greene and a love interest for Glenn (Steven Yuen), reports TV Guide Magazine.

The role of Hershel, meanwhile, will be played by acting vet Scott Wilson, who’s probably best known to TV audiences as Catherine’s biological father on CSI.

The duo join fellow new Dead hire Pruitt Taylor Vince, who was cast as the foreman at Hershel’s Farm — which is where much of Season 2 will be set.
