Dude University Quidditch is hilarious/stupid. I love that they have a 55 page rulebook and an official website for it. It's so dumb lol.

Also who is the new Avatar? This Korra person?

Yeah Korra is the new Avatar. She's a teenager from the water tribe that already knows how to bend Earth, Water and Fire. She only needs to learn air.

Just watched the first 5 episodes and this is definitely going to be a great series. It takes place 70 years after Aang's adventures and in that time they've developed radio, film, and auto mobiles. The music has a 20's swing style with a twist of the oriental sounds. The themes in this show are really interesting and it's really cool to see how the world has changed in 70 years. I really enjoy the characters as well; Bolin is the new Sokka and that's a great thing. 5 episodes in I can tell there is a really rich and deep history between Aang's days and Korra's, suffice to say this show is great and everyone who enjoys tight animation and good plot should give it a shot.

This ended on Saturday. I was surprised to see how it basically felt like a series finale. I had kind of forgotten that this show was originally planned just be a mini-series, so it makes sense. There aren't really too many loose ends that have been left over. Of course the hardcore Avatar fans hate it, but I think that they forget this is mainly a children's show that comes on Nick on Saturday mornings. This isn't a prime time HBO series.

I ended up really feeling bad for Amon, the bad guy. The way he went out was pretty unexpected. I actually said out loud I couldn't believe they just did that. His brother does a murder/suicide on the both of them when Amon thinks they're finally escaping together to have a new life... while crying in happiness.

Also I think that Korra losing her ability to bend would have been a great starting point for Season 2, but they gave her those abilities back really quickly.

Real life pro bending. Of course it is neither pro nor features any bending.

that is just absolutely ridiculous...

i havent watched the last episode yet, so im not reading your spoilers. i cant believe after the last episode they tied it up in 2 eps though. i didnt know this was only supposed to be a miniseries. idk why the avatar fanboys hate it, seems to have stuck pretty close to the original in terms of plot and character development. personally, I have enjoyed it.

I guess they hate it for the point you brought up. They felt like they wrapped up way too much stuff in two eps. It does in fact do a lot in a short amount of time, but like I said, kids show miniseries. What do they want? I'll see what your take is when you're finished. But both my wife and I really enjoyed it, and my wife is a waaaaay bigger Avatar fan than I am.

I never made it through The Last Airbender series beyond Book One, but I loved this series. They wrapped things up quickly at the end, but it didn't feel like they left any gaping holes in the plot or anything. It was a relatively simple story, with a relatively simple resolution.

"Bad/Lazy Writing" has become the mantra of the Internet Hipsters. Though I doubt any one of them could offer an articulate explanation of what that actually means.

I assumed they would wrap up the initial threat in this one and then leave something dangling. i mean all the graphics and everything labeled this as "book one" so i just assumed there would be a book 2.

Yeah there is a book two happening which is why I thought they'd leave things open too, but I guess the idea of doing more seasons came after they already mapped this out. I mean there are a few things hanging out there that they could go into, but there is no huge cliff hanger or anything.

Does anyone else fucking hate that whole "shipping" thing? A girl I'm friends with tweets about it sometimes and that whole culture is so retarded. Basically they "ship" characters by placing them in some kind of relationship. I guess sometimes fanfiction comes out of this too? I don't know it seems really dumb and I've noticed a few people talking about it and this show.

Ah, yeah I'm sure people do that with Avatar. This series has a HUGE fan following.

I remember "Shipping" from the old X-Files BBS days. The women on there were 50 shades of greying the shit out of Mulder and Scully. Some of it was pretty gross.

Yeah it's just an extremely popular erotic novel. Aint no different than other ones, just somehow took off. My wife bought it, but she never ended up reading it.

My wife read all three of those books. She said she didn't like the first one and liked the character stories more than the sex stuff. Some of it is pretty graphic.
But then she really started liking books 2 and 3. She read them all in like a month.

According to my wife, the reason it has been spreading through women is because it apparently makes them want to do it. Dem claims all these women at her work just want to bang when they're done reading it. I have no idea.

I like how it's cool for women to read books that make them want to bang. I want to do that all the time and I just have to deal.
