I don't really have a specific order or 10 but just a few I really enjoyed.

Skyrim (probably #1)
Battlefield 3
Batman: Arkham City
Mortal Kombat 9
The Binding of Isaac
InFamous 2
Saint's Row: The Third
MW3

Also I haven't really played very much of it and technically neither game is from 2011 but The Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection came out in 2011 and it's awesome so far.

Let me see what I can grab off the top of my head here... This is basically going to be a Top 10 by default because I probably only played 10 new games this year.

Skyward Sword
Super Mario 3D Land
Ghost Trick
Mario Kart 7
Where Is My Heart
Ghost Recon Shadow Wars
Jamestown
The Binding of Isaac
Pilotwings Resort
Aban Hawkins and the 1000 Spikes

Games that would have totally made it if they came out this year.

Pacman Championship DX would be #2 because it really is amazing. Maybe it would be my #1. It's perfect and Zelda is not perfect.
EA Sports Active 2 would be maybe #3 because of what it did for me physically
PoP Forgotten Sands Wii would be in there for sure, that game was awesome and when I told you guys to buy it you all went ahead and bought the wrong one.

This list also made me realize how much I play portable games now. It's just easier to make room for them.

Oh yeah, and Im still sitting on Portal 2 and not even halfway through Uncharted 3, so those would probably have made the cut if i played through them.

Probably wouldn't have made my list anyways. Portal was better...Patrick Klepak said so.

Patrick Klepeck is wrong about anything that deals with an opinion.

hahahahahahaha

That was in reference to his GOTY list. Portal 2 made his list, but he kinda stealth shit on it by randomly saying that the first was better.

Yeah, and the co-op is awful because you have to play cooperatively.

Dammit, I didn't even think about this until now. Here we go.

Zelda Skyward Sword
Dark Souls
Portal 2
Super Mario 3D Land
Shadows of the Damned
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Uncharted 3
Bloodrayne: Betrayal
Batman: Arkham City
Infamous 2

I can't believe so many people love the Skyrim. It's a "good" game that could be a lot better. Too many reused ideas (how many fucking caves/tombs need to have the stupid dragon claw lock puzzles? It was clever the first time, the next 9 times it was annoying as hell), and not enough options to create a unique experience for the player. You pretty much have 2 options to get through ANY area; Kill everything out in the open, or kill everything from the shadows. I got a lot of deja vu from all the caves and tombs too. At least in Fallout, there's computer terminals and other set dressings to give the environments character. I mean, the vaults alone each have their own unique hook. The combat is a huge drag too. I never had any fun fighting in that game, which sucks because that's what you are doing 90% of the time. I enjoyed it far more than any other Elder scrolls game, but the series still has absolutely nothing on Fallout. I have no idea how it flies to the top of everyone's list without a second thought.

I am ready for your hate.

Duke Nukem Forever

Duke Nukem doesn't really deserve to be on any list but those are the only new games I played in 2011.

Yeah, I agree with you on many of those points. I'm still enjoying it quite a bit though...even though I haven't played it in three weeks.

Yeah, I don't hate it. There are some parts which are absolutely great. I just wish the 'game' part of it was better.

I've wondered if Skyrim would be able to dodge combat criticism if it had some sort of VATS system like fallout does. The quality of shooting is a non-issue in fallout because of that system, and I'd be curious to see the reaction of something like that in an ES game, though it's not something I would actually want to play. The combat never bothered me in Skyrim because I consider it to be an RPG, and so think more of stats and levels than in terms of combat prowess. That being said, Skyrim with an actual, great sword combat system is pretty much my dream game. Just set it in Westeros and I'll have a boner for a month.

I can't find my exact hour count on PS3 but I can tell you that it has been a LOOOONG time since I've put that many hours into a game and still had a ton of quests to do. Or like a Saint's Row where I just fuck around with cheats after I finished it, or decided to restart it or something.

edit: I'm at over 3.5 days played.

I don't really think I would want VATS in this game only because it's so melee-centric. The ranged combat works well enough on it's own to not need it. Just make it like Zeno Clash, even a little bit, and I'll be happy. I feel like they are on their way to something, some of the shouts definitely help, but it's not there yet.

I thought the gunplay in New Vegas was a lot better than Fallout 3, and it needed to be, since you can be shot while in VATS in that game.
