I've had a Razor Mamba for years now and the past few days I have been having some issues with it. Randomly it goes all wonky with the (don't know the proper term) mouse moving junk. Like I move it right a whole bunch and the mouse barely moves or stutter steps less than half of the distance I wanted it to cover. Also occasionally either vertical or horizontal movement just stops while the other works fine.

Any suggestions/possible solutions?

It could have something to do with your sensitivity settings...did you recently install newer drivers or software for it?

I have a Lachesis and it freaks out sometime, I hit the profile button on the bottom and then change the sensitivity then its fine.

Still, it is kind of annoying.

Mine is different man, there is no profile button on the bottom. I have sensitivity buttons very close to my left click but clicking them doesn't help when it acts up.

Is it wireless or wired (I believe they made both). If it is wireless, you may notice that if there is interference from something else. Maybe someone got a new microwave, cordless phone, wireless router, or even hands-free headset for their cellphone in your house/apartment/neighborhood. It could even come from a different power transformer on the street. Not much can be done about it aside from removing the offending device, but if the thing interfering is now owned by you, well you are SOL (at least in the US since FCC regulations on wireless devices require that they accept any and all interference that may occur).

I use wired for my gaming system as a direct result. My HTPC keyboard/mouse sometimes acts that way and it is due to interference from best I can tell.

My old wireless mouse use to do that and it would drive me nuts. I eventually just opted for a wired one. I don't have to change out batteries either so that's good.

It's a hybrid. Currently I have it on wired mode.

Maybe its the surface you're using it on? Check the scanner and make sure there isn't anything covering it, that'd do it. Besides that, maybe it's just getting old. :/ My wireless mouse shat the bed this summer.

I am just using it flat on the desk and I can see no obstructions. Maybe it's just getting old :(

It is possible. The sensor might be failing or possibly dusty/dirty. Not sure how easy it is to take apart, but if you can, you might want to try and clean the sensor using a lint-free cloth (like the ones uses for cleaning glasses and other optics).

I had issues with laser mice on my desk and even one of the mousepads I had laying around. I picked up one of the "gaming pads" (but really only because it was a super thin pad and was on sale for like $3). It allowed my laser mice to all work.
