that's how i feel, it's cheap enough were everyone who's gonna want one can get it, and already does (excluding the 3ds). unlike the 360 and ps3 which cost more.

Someone pointed this out on gaf, but the rumored controller totally sounds like an NGP.

Six inch touch screen basically confirmed.

Quote:
Wii 2 will feature a new type of controller that includes a touch screen. The controller will give tablet-like controls to games and can also be used itself as a portable game machine.

The touch panel on the controller is six inches. The controller itself has a built in battery and includes a camera. The camera can be used for a variety of play opportunities -- for instance, a player making an avatar of himself for use in a game.

Nikkei says that Wii 2 will be released in the latter half of 2012.

I wonder if the system will really be as powerful as it was rumored to be. That controller alone has to be pretty pricey. Hopefully they at least put a nice touch screen on it. Glass surface, multitouch, etc.

It's Nintendo so they're going to make the controller out of the cheapest materials available to them. I'm sure it'll look nice, though the thing is going to be a beast. The 6 inch screen is bigger than the Vita screen, right? I can only imagine what this thing is going to look like. I'm actually kind of scared!

If the machine is as powerful as people say and this controller is the real deal, the thing is going to cost a pretty penny. I don't want to say "Nintendo Am Doomed" but they're putting themselves in a weird situation. Also, I'm personally pretty sad to see them abandon the split controller introduced with Wii. I don't know. I could sit here and speculate all day but the truth is Nintendo never does what anyone speculates, so I'll just sit back and watch it unfold along with everyone else.

at least it "built in battery" makes it sound like it will be rechargeable this time around.... dumb fuckers and their AA batteries on a home console
I'd say that might be one of the biggest reasons my wii gets no love. Occasionally I'll think i might want to play some goldeneye or wii sports or something for a few minutes, but then i remember i probably don't have any fresh batteries so i just leave it off.

Yeah the batteries do suck, but at least they last for lots of hours.

Here's my biggest question. What's the battery life like on that controller? The thing is huge and it has a huge HD screen. people already have to plug in the PSP pretty much daily.

well the ps3 controller only lasts a couple hours of gameplay, so i'd assume it just has a usb plug n charge.

So there's a console, and a controller.

it runs in 1080p.

Controller wont update wii graphics at all.

Now bring on the GIFs

I expect pricing to be 200-250 for console, around 70-100 for controller.

Not being released until after march 31st 2012, so i'd expect next holiday season based on what reggie said. probably not before next e3.

Oh and nintendo obviously won e3 this year.

Did they confirm whether it can just output a 1080p signal, or actually render games at 1080p?

Here are some things that may be negatives. This controller is huge. Looks about the size of an iPad, when parents have younger children they almost always go for Nintendo, will this thing fit in kids hands? will it be too heavy? Also I'm sure this will be the most expensive first party controller ever (I want to say $100 minimum) and it has a screen, this screen better be Hulk strong cause kids drop that shit all the time and are rarely careful with it.

Oh less of a concern, does this thing have rumble? Will that impact anything in the high tech controller?

Also I wonder how explensive it will be. William I think you are underestinmating the price. I want to guess that just the system will be at least as expensive as the Wii at launch ($250-300?) and then add the controllers that are basically better than a PSP but without a gameslot (I actually think they might be over $100).

Yeah no one won E3 this year. Nintendo would have won if they showed off solid stuff, but they really just showed ideas and left people confused. People weren't even sure if there was a new console or it was just a Wii add on (it's a new console). They didn't even bother to flesh out their end of the year Wii line up (it's DREADFUL) and the only confirmed Wii U stuff are games that will be 6 - 9 months old by the time they launch on Wii U.

They started out strong with the Zelda stuff, and I think they got people interested in 3DS again, but after that it was all "This is what COULD happen."

I guess Sony had the strongest traditional show. Best software and fleshed out details for their new hardware launch.

It has rumble. Did I also hear Iwata say this thing wouldn't be cheap?

i don't understand how it could be cheap? Unless they used horrible horrible parts. Like if that screen on the controller has HD display it has to be expensive. Maybe the actual system will be really cheap?

like i said, around 100 for the controller, 250 for console i'd think. 300-400 for everything

Sony won it IMO, at least we knew WTF the Vita was at the end of the presentation. MS just showed us some shooters and some awful Kinect BS. Nintendo....I have no fucking clue what happened there, I had to check outside sources just to confirm that there was in fact a new system.

Overall though, I think I enjoyed Ubisoft's presentation more (regular dude excluded)...FC3 looks awesome and was the only real megaton dropped IMO.

I like nintendo more because i'm excited for the games, I like nintendo style handheld games over the psp style, it's just a personal preference. Nintendo had everything going for them with that symphony, then they dropped a very confusing bomb.

I'm not excited about hand helds period. The only thing on them that I remotely care about is Pokemon. I care about the Veeta even less than the 3DS because i see no reason to play an inferior version of a game I would get on PS3 and I don't see too many interesting games that aren't just the portable version of a PS3 game. It's not like I ever play handhelds outside of my house unless I'm on some kind of road trip.
