Nice, might have to take a trip and expand my nonexistent Xbox library. I also ordered 999 (Smorg Recommendation) and Radiant Historia off Amazon for the old DS. Mario Kart and Mario Land almost made me buy a 3DS, but I decided to save some cash and go with some old DS games instead.

Nice pick ups. Ive been really curious about Historia but it's an RPG which pretty much stopped me. That actually just got a reprint. It was going for like 100 dollars new about a month ago.

And yeah, stick with 999. Just go in there knowing you're basically reading a book. And then if you like that, there is a whole world of this sort of shit like Hotel Dusk and Phoenix Wright.

Oh yeah and I think Target also has the 3DS for 150 as well.

Kid Icarus has pretty crazy online. I tried both a Free for All and Light Vs Dark. I did two rounds of FFA and got my ass handed to me. I placed 4th my first game and last in my second. There is just shit happening everywhere. Then I did LvsD once, which I did pretty well in. I'm still not sure of the rules, but it's team based. At some point, I think after a certain amount of deaths on a team, one of you is randomly chosen to be Pit for the Light Team and Pitto for the Dark Team. The game is over when one of the angels dies, so the team needs to defend their Pit once he arrives. I was chosen to be Pit and I ended up winning with him. He's a beast when he arrives.

This game is also no joke with the intensity cranked up. I tried stage one on 9 and died right away. The thing that kinda sucks is that when you die, you're automatically knocked down to a lower level intensity. There is no just playing on hard mode and getting used to the game that way. You get your one shot, and when you die you're kicked down. Basically any one could beat this game if they played it, because even if you suck on intensity 2, it's just going to knock it down to a point where it pretty much plays itself. I did beat Stage 1 on Intensity 7 though. I generally try and start out a Stage on 5. I'm usually knocked down to 4 though.

Also, so many achievements and so many rewards that go with them! Neato stuff.

I usually get by at intensity 5 or 6. I've managed to make it up to the boss on stage 1 at 9.0, but I can't beat him. You just take so much damage.

Man, really? I can't make it through the flying parts on high intensity. I feel like I'd make out better on the foot stages, but I can never make it far enough to ever know!

One thing I realized is that the game doesn't want you to hammer down the fire button. It's all about waiting for that charge shot to build up and then blast the shit out of them with it. I was testing weapons on the testing stage and it shows the damage the different attacks do. Holding down fire does about 7 damage. Doing a rolling charge shot is like 70.

In the flying sections, you have to be moving constantly and really paying attention to where attacks are coming from, or killing enemies quickly so they don't have a chance to attack. You get health refills, so you can take a few hits.

The on foot sections are harder for me because you only have so much stamina. After so many dashes, you have to stop and catch your breath. Using orbitars or claws makes it easier, but I love using staffs. So much ranged damage.

At least you can equip the "run and not get tired" item, but that only has so many uses. He does get tired a lot though. I haven't tried orbitars or claws yet. I'm having more fun than I thought experimenting with the weapons. I kind of just thought I'd stick with the default one through the entire game, but you really do need to find what works best for you.

Nate I just made it to the part in KI you were talking about. Pretty nuts. There have been so many parts where I've said "wow." The rail shooting parts are pretty amazing. Now I want Sakurai to make a Star Fox game. This is the game Star Fox Assault wanted to be.

Land battles are really starting to click now. Holy shit, this game. Tweaking the sensitivity settings really helped.

Yeah I also fiddled around with those settings too. I love the land battles now. I started thinking about it, and the land battles are pretty much Smash Brothers 3D. Just in the way that the light attacks are mainly stunning enemies and the "smash" attacks, performed basically the same way, do the real damage.

Also, I got in my car this morning and thought "I want to listen to the music to this game" and then it hit me, I could! I opened up my DS (which had KI in sleep) and went into the music menu and hooked it up to my audio cable my iPod uses. Worked perfect and I was loving it. Unfortunately the tracks just keep repeating, so I'd have to reach over and touch a random part of the screen to put on another one... so I probably won't be doing that again. Haha.

There is a Reggie Mii is everyone's Street Pass Plaza. He has every single puzzle piece (make sure you pick a pink one) and is a Level 5 hero for Find Mii.

Nintendo is pimping this game hard. Just got this email

Quote:
A Special Message From Masahiro Sakurai

Hello Super Smash Bros. fans,

This is Masahiro Sakurai, Director and Game Designer of Kid Icarus: Uprising. I am also the Director of the Super Smash Bros. series.

The character Pit, who appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl for Wii, was the main character in Kid Icarus 25 years ago. In bringing him to Super Smash Bros. Brawl, I designed him imagining, "if the series had continued and he had evolved with it over these long years, what kind of character would he be?"

Link from The Legend of Zelda has appropriately changed and developed alongside the series, but in Pit's case, he needed to change in one big leap. You all know the kind of role he played in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

It was through a very strange twist of fate that I came to create this new entry in the Kid Icarus series. I think being able to add your touch to a title of this nature is almost unprecedented. So, of course, I have made no compromises on content.

It has a fun multiplayer mode that is brimming with variety, which it inherits from the Super Smash Bros. games. The weapons, powers, and stages combine to create different results every time. You never know what will happen. Please try to play it with six players.

On top of that, it has a robust single-player mode. The theme of this mode is challenge, and it starts with the Fiend's Cauldron. It's not the kind of game that you play through once and are done with—you can play this mode many times, as often as you like. The story is also quite robust from a gaming perspective. I wrote the entire Japanese script myself, and it is rich with humor and plot shifts, which have been translated overseas by the staff at Nintendo of America. If you find it funny in your own tongue, it's because of the efforts of NOA's localization team.

I hope you will enjoy Kid Icarus: Uprising.

Sincerely,
Masahiro Sakurai

I looked up the name, she's from Mass Effect. Same voice actor you mean?

I tried out the AR card with Kid Icarus. It's kind of a waste of time, but I did get more hearts and idols out of the deal, so that's cool. I thought the only purpose of them is to make them fight, but when you scan them you get that idol. The fighting is kind of stupid. You just face the cards toward each other and then they battle. I thought maybe there was some sort of card game element to it. I guess I could see kids making up their own rules and having fun with it though.

Also, I unlocked that SECOND WALL OF ACHIEVEMENTS! Holy moly, so this game has around 300 achievments? Crazy.

I guess Reggie was only in the streetpass for a day? I went yesterday and looked and I still didn't have anyone in there. My streetpass lobby is the loneliest place in the world.
