No I just mean I'm incapable of doing a serious push up.

I guess you can always do the girl ones before doing the real ones......

When I do push ups though, I try to keep my elbows in instead of far out. My hands are faced forwards instead of inwards. My elbows and arms are parallel with my torso. That's how I saw the guy who did the record amount of push ups in 1 minute do it.

so i gave this a really quick try over phil's, and like i thought i was going to, i liked it. it certainly isn't for everyone and i still am not going to go out to pick one up any time soon, but its a nice package. its actually a lot harder doing all the stuff in there than you think as you are constantly being reminded of your balance by a diagram in the corner.

wiifit is certainly a nice piece of hardware and software, and i like the the idea that nintendo is trying to promote some health in the video game industry with something a little different than the norm.

A 90 dollar price tag actually is affordable too considering if you really wanted to you could blow more then 90 on a bathroom scale.

I've done 4 work out sessions so far since having Wii Fit. I didn't play it much over the weekend because I was actually somewhat active for a change. I'm really enjoying the whole thing, it's a rather brilliant piece of software and hardware. As you get better at doing certain activities, the game slowly allows you to add more reps to your workout, so they start you off nice and slow. It's similar to Brian Age in that you need to play it often in order to unlock all the extra activities.

Some of the balance games are awesome, and I'd love to see whole games created from them. I opened up Snowboarding yesterday and it's pretty damn cool. You turn the board sidewides and you control it pretty much how you imagine. Leaning side to side turns your board and by pushing forward to pick up speed. Pushing back obviously slows you down. I'd love to play a new 1080 game using this thing. I also just so happened to have the fan blowing in my face since it was so damn hot in the house, so I had the whole full effect going for downhill fun.

I finally beat the marble game too, in which you tilt the board Monkey Ball style in order to get marbles into the holes. It gets pretty crazy, and I opened up a hard mode which is hopefully more courses for this game.

So far the weakest section of the package is Aerobics. The hoola hooping is fun for a try or two, and jogging is kind of lame. You just put the remote in your pocket and run in place.

According to Wii Fit I've lost around 8 pounds and I've gotten my Wii Fit age down to 21. Yay.

Is Wii Fit what you do during breaks of marathoning MGS4? That's hardcore if you do.

Hahaha, I thought about doing that on Friday. Last time I did Wii Fit was Saturday morning as soon as I woke up for over an hour and it was killer.

I had a feeling that the reason I dropped so much weight is because I was sweating for like a week straight. When I got on the board last night I had gained 4 pounds back since Saturday morning. I did just finish eating dinner, and I also drank and ate like a slob over the weekend, so I guess that's why. At this rate, I will not make my goal. Oh well. I'll just extend it. My Fit Age also went up to 29 :(

It's not about losing weight, it's about getting in shape. Keep up the good work.

I've been playing this regularly for the last two weeks now and I'm enjoying it all over again. I'm not pushing myself as hard as I did the first time around. I'm so out of shape that I need to spend time just getting used to doing the workouts instead of trying to go all the way, getting hurt or too sore and then putting it off for a few days which then turns into weeks which then turns into forever.

I've been alternating between the Yoga set and the Strength Training on different days (I used to do them both in one shot) and then usually play some of the Balance games to wrap up. I try to do at least a half hour of activity each day with it, and I have also started logging other stuff with it as well (like walking).

One thing I like about this game is all the little things that happen on different days. Sort of like Animal Crossing, different days bring different events. Like on New Years it wished me a happy new year. The one day my trainer was away and I had to work with the male trainer. Yesterday my trainer was late because she was out too late the day before. I noticed she's also been getting different hair cuts. My Mii now wears a hoodie for the winter, and it snows on the main screen. I love all the little details.

Figured I should expand this thread beyond Wii Fit since there are some... uhhh... compelling excer-gaming releases on the way that I'm likely going to buy.

First up is EA Active for the Wii

Image

I'm actually really excited about EA Active, which is EA's take on Wii Fit. It seems to be jammed packed full of different types of activities. There is also some kind of "30 day challenge" where the game puts together a 20 minute routine for you for 30 days to get you into shape. That sounds rather motivating. I also hear you can put together your own workout routine, something I wish you could do with Wii Fit. It comes with some kind of leg strap to hold the nunchuck and remote in place. It also comes with a tension band as well, and supports the balance board. It's going to ship for 60 bucks. I'm excited.

Then there is Personal Trainer: Walking for DS. Since I do loads of walking with my wife and dog during the spring, I'll likely be buying this too. The game comes with two pedometers which wirelessly transfer your walking data to the game. You can also import your Wii Mii into the game as well (but whatever). That'll be released for 50 bucks only a few days after EA Active. Wowzers. Demi is not going to like this.

I haven't done Wii Fit since I was bad sick a while ago (its so hard to get back into it) but I plan on doing so soon. I plan on installing the Wii Fit channel onto my Wii to keep track of stats across all three games. You can plug in additional "extra" time into Wii Fit, so having the channel installed would come in handy. I'll probably always use Wii Fit to weigh myself as well.

The pedometer for this guy would be off the charts.

It's never too late to get back into it. Everyday is another day to turn it all around.

Hate to be 'that guy', but why don't you just spend that money on a gym membership?

Because I have personal issues. Hahahah. Well it's a bit of a mix of things.

1) Yes I do have some sort of phobia where I can't see myself exercising/working out around other people. I just can't do it.

2) A gym membership is still more money than spending 120 bucks on a handful of video games.

3) A gym membership means I need to go to an actual gym. Most times, the only place I want to go to is home, hahaha.

I told myself when Wii Fit came out that if I stuck with Wii Fit and really enjoyed doing it that I would consider getting a gym membership. Even though I've played Wii Fit on and off during the year, I never committed to the point where I felt like spending money on a gym would be a good idea.

Also,

4) I love trying out weird video games.

Thats actually a little cheaper than I thought. I was thinking it would be around 300 on average.
