The only thing is arcades are more fun when you have a friend over to play. So unless you consistently have people coming over to use it, it's probably just going to sit there. Unless you're the obsessive compulsive type that needs to get the highest score in the world. Then I suppose you'll get good usage out of it.

This isn't so much about usage as it is finally owning a cab. Also, if/when I get one of these, I'm hoping to get it hooked up to either work with MAME or my Dreamcast or something, so that I have a bunch of games I can play on it. I don't plan on using it as a single stand alone machine. It's just something I've always wanted to have. Hell I'd settle for a Wood if I had room for one of those beasts. I thought I could just store one in my garage, but that would REALLY never be used.

And yeah Nate, I would love to do the sort of shit they do at TNT as well. They do awesome work.

Found a dude in Philly that's selling a Blast City as well. This is good, finally have some options to work with here as opposed to just nothing every time I go on one of these hunts.

I may have just acquired a cab. THE EXCITEMENT!!!!!!

Demi is cool with it. I told her the price and she said go for it. This was to be my 30th Birthday Gift. It'll also likely automatically take the place of the next few gifts I'd normally get over the holidays, haha.

So I'm picking this thing up on Sunday. I still feel sick. I feel sick posting this but whatever. If I don't do it now I'll never do it.

That happened so fast, same thing with my Simpsons cabinet. One day I said, I want one, a few days later it was in my house.

It did happen a lot faster than I thought. I mean, I've been looking on and off for years now. I was never serious about one until close to my 30th though since Dem said I could get one as a gift. Around then I was really looking hard, but then I felt like I shouldn't have one because it would be irresponsible since money is sorta tight. I mean, we're not hurting, but we're not doing great either. Dem's got a better handle on our money than I do and she insist it's fine to go ahead with it. This month is also pretty brutal with two weddings, mother's day, and other events. So after this we just gotta be real good. I'm also planning a yard sale for either the end of month or early June getting rid of all our baby stuff, so maybe I'll recoup a few bucks there. Not expecting much there though. I may even pick up a freelance gig.

But anyway, yeah I was hanging out on the Neo-Geo forums for most of the day and luck was just on my side. This cab is pretty much exactly what I wanted. A two player Blast City with sanwa sticks and buttons that is JAMMA ready. Apparently the monitor is not a trisync though, so from what I'm reading I don't think I can hook like an Xbox 360 up to it or anything. I just plan on getting my Dreamcast in there eventually with Third Strike. That's kind of the goal. I *THINK* I should be able to do a DC on there. Hopefully! I'll probably try and find a cheap JAMMA board in the meantime just for something authentic.

So yes, I still feel sick to my stomach, but Sunday can't get here soon enough!

edit: I just realized that maybe I should put my original Xbox in there since I have all that MAME shit on it. Wonder how hard that'll be.

Yeah I was looking into it actually. I think I might try and get my original Xbox hooked up to it as my first project with it. Wiring the controlls and shit looks pretty complicated!

I went to bed feeling sick still and had dreams about this thing all night. This is how I get whenever I make a purchase I feel is out of my budget. I was like this with my PC, house, Dem's new car, etc. For a few moments last night I almost thought about getting a hold of the dude and saying I'd pass on it. But shit do I want one of these things. Nice thing about these cabs is that they're pretty hard to come by. So I guess in a worst case scenario if I needed to sell it down the line I wouldn't take too much of a bath on it. Hopefully it'll never get to that point.

Mandy is the same way. If it was up to her we wouldn't have a house, dog, basement finished or anything cool. hahaha
Its always me that pulls the trigger because my "LETS DO THIS!" attitude. No regrets on any of those things I mentioned.
Well if I waited a couple years I could have gotten a way nicer house, but I like the area I live in enough not to care about that.

She was also the one that told me I needed to do the basement if I wanted space. So yeah, our relationship roles are reversed.

Just inquired about a KI2 JAMMA board someone on Craigslist is willing to get rid of for 100 bucks. If I get this, I'll put the Xbox MAME project aside for a while. I can't get out of control here.

Dude, nice. That is on my wish-list of things for once I get the house. I mean, it is probably pretty far down the list as things like furniture, cookware, dinnerware, etc., will take precedence... But, it is something I always wanted. That said, I really want to build my own mame cabinet, probably a fairly standard 2 player street fighter/tekken 6 button layout (maybe with a 7th option button for games like teken tag), with a trackball and 2/4 buttons in the middle for 1 player games, like breakout and missile command.
