Speaking of fixing cars, I'm getting some serious rust by my gas tank/cap. Anyone have experience fixing rust before? Curious to know how much it'll cost to get done. It's getting pretty bad, and quick.

Mine was supposed to be deposited friday, still not there yet.... I hope it comes soon... I feel like I'm hemorrhaging money recently.

Me either. Hopefully I'll have a lot of deductions due to my wife's tuition.

An extra grand. You basically get a grand per kid.

If you're getting that much back, then you should definitely readjust your deductions. That's at least like $500 they're throwing away every year.

700 bucks, I'd say our withholdings are set pretty well.

Well some people set it up so they get more back in their paycheck each week instead of a big lump sum at tax time. Then you can put that extra money into a Savings Account and get interest on it instead of the government holding it all year long and you don't make any interest. You can change your withholdings around in order to do that. I don't like that though. I know for a fact I would just get more back each week in my pay and not do anything with it except buy stupid shit or just put it towards bills. I like getting my big lump sum and then putting it towards house repairs (my basement and my back room in past years) or a trip of some kind (San Diego this year).

Mandy and I got $5200 back this year. Our San Diego trip came to about $1700 total. Then spending money when we get there.
So we didn't use it all and we're putting the rest into Savings.

Why don't you just set up an auto deduction into a separate account? That's essentially what you're relying on the government to do. Except you can use that money in your extra spendings account whenever you want and on anything you want which includes investing or savings.

Apparently getting married boosted up my returns by 4k! That is ridiculous. I'm not done doing all my taxes yet but I thought I was doing something wrong. I don't know. Maybe I am... How much are dependents worth in deductions? I haven't even calculated in the loans for her tuition yet. That's just going to bring that number even higher. I'm going to have to do some serious adjustments next year.

Phil your not doing anything wrong, like John said, I'd rather not give the government my money for an interest free loan all year when I can make a few bucks on it. The interests rates blow on ing but I'm still making like 1.5 percent more then i would if they kept it. We got like 4 grand the first year we were married and then we changed our withholdings. Since, we've been getting about 700 a year. I guess I would have owed money if not for bobby this year.

That extra money could be invested in stocks instead of a savings account.... just saying!

I've had to resubmit my taxes 4 times already because of my wife's lack of a E-Pin. First they tell you to put what ever number you want. Then they tell you to put 0. She didn't file any taxes for the past 4 years! She doesn't have a pin!

I shipped all my shit off to a CPA..with the buying a new house and classifying the old one as an investment and likely incorporating myself to handle freelance shit and the investment property..no way I was doing that shit on my own. Plus they are pretty cheap anyways. Like half what H&R block would charge.
