I'm still reading The Chris Farley Show. I havent touched it in a month or so because I was reading a couple magazines on the turlet instead. But this past weekend I picked it back up and read a couple interesting things. Farley was supposed to get Jim Carrey's role in The Cable Guy. They were all ready to start signing deals then Jim Carrey got a hold of the script and asked if he could do it. So they passed on Farley to go with Carrey thinking he would bring in more of an audience. Then Judd Apatow and Ben Stiller got involved and made it a dark comedy. It was supposed to be silly and slapstick with Farley in the lead.

Also he was supposed to be Randy Quaid's Amish character in Kingpin but Black Sheep caused scheduling conflicts. Imagine those movies with Farley involved. They would have been so different.

This was a cool book. Its split up into small segments of interviews with various people from Farley's childhood and pre-fame days to all the celebs he became friends with. It was really sad at the end. Of course I knew the final chapter was going to be about his death but just hearing all these people talk about it was getting to me. Farley was great. I can only imagine how many great (and terrible) movies we would have seen with him by now.

Even though I remember liking it, they say when he came back to host SNL its regarded as one of the worst episodes in history. He was drunk and on heroin and just a huge mess the entire time. Man, its a sad story. Farley just couldnt kick the habit and relapsed like 30 times.

Now I'm reading 'Cesar's Way: The Natural, Everyday Guide to Understanding and Correcting Common Dog Problems' by Cesar Millan, The Dog Whisperer. My mom got it for me for Christmas because she's obsessed with my dog. I never thought I would actually read it but I had nothing else to read during my plane rides this past week. Its a pretty good book. I"m gonna try some of his tricks on my dog. haha

Its not that great.
There are some good tips but too much filler around it.
The beginning is all about his life which could be interesting to some but I didnt really care. And then there's section about different cases he had and dogs he couldnt rehabilitate and stuff like that. I'm on the final chapter and its finally some useful stuff including tips for your own dog. Exercise, Discipline, Affection. Too many owners are just all Affection with a little discipline and exercise thrown in on occasion. haha

I probably have like 50 pages or so which will take a while because I only read 4 or 5 pages per shit and I dont always shit at home. hahaha

I've been reading the Dexter books before I start watching the series. Yes I know, I'm behind in every TV show by at least 4 years. They're really good books, I'm just about to start the 3rd. It's dark and funny, a lot of black comedy.

My wife bought me the book "Unmasked: The Final Years of Michael Jackson" as a gift sometime last week. The whole point of the book is that the author, Ian Halperin, was enraged when he heard that Jackson got off free from the court case in 2005 and was determined to dig up dirt to prove that he was in fact guilty. So he spent 4 years gathering up whatever he could and actually came up with nothing aside from more evidence proving that Jackson hadn't done anything wrong. The bulk of the book deals with the two child molestation cases which makes for a decent read.

The book is also full of a bunch of theories, speculation and general bullshit. That stuff I didn't care for as much because it was basically like reading tabloids in the form of a book. There's a whole section on his marriage to Lisa Marie and how she only did it because the church of Scientology forced her to in an effort to recruit him. Is it true? Who knows, but at the same time he uses it as a way to plug his other book about Scientology (which I am interested in reading actually). He then goes on to say that Jackson is gay (which I do believe actually) but goes a step further by interviewing a "former lover" that told him a story about how Jackson liked it up the poop. The author himself even stated he had a moment where he finally met Jackson undercover as a gay hairdresser and that Jackson hit on him. Bullshit.

The author thinks a little to highly of himself and inserts too much of his own opinion and experience into a book that is supposed to be solely about Jackson. At one point he's telling stories about how he's sharing a joint with a bunch of celebrities (in an effort to get info about Jackson from them) and then in another he's plugging a book he wrote about the fashion industry, and then says how he managed to get a quick modeling gig out of it. It's stuff like this that makes the whole book a bunch of hogwash, outside of the actual facts from the two cases.

He also admits that he was determined to get this book published in June because he knew Michael was going to die in June, which is kind of weird thinking about it. In Dec '08 he was the guy that broke headlines saying Jackson had 6 months to live. Apparently two days before the book was to go into production, Jackson did in fact die and then the author scrambled to change the last few pages of the book and his final thoughts. As a result, it lacks true facts about how he died (we still dont know) and it just feels rushed, as it obviously was.

Still, despite all that the book was short enough that it still made for an interesting read.

Wow I wrote more about that than I planned.

This dude was on O&A a few weeks ago and was pretty much a total douche bag. But it did make me interested in his book so I guess his whole attitude works out to his benefit.

Yeah, he sounds like a prick. I actually went over to Amazon to see what people have to say about this book and they're so fired up. If it wasn't for the fact that he did present a lot of good facts about the two molestation cases this book would seriously be trash. There's a shit ton of stuff at the end of the book about how Michael was sick and ill and couldn't perform for more than a few minutes, yet as we know now there is a bunch of footage of him dancing and singing on stage before he died. But whatever, this dude is making all his money, as planned.

In the past month I've read Showcase presents Justice League Vol 1 & 2 and Showcase presents Challengers of the Unknown. Over 500 pages in each book. Its all stuff from the 60's DC comics. It is a lot of wacky tales but I'm starting to love them. Next up will be Showcase presents Robin.

Started this in June, just finished it about a week ago. Its decent. Some tricks from the book I tried and they worked but a lot of them you have to do from Day 1 with your dog to get him/her to really follow forever. There was a biography on Cesar Milan to start the book that I didnt really care about. I just wanted his tips. Towards the end there was a lot of good information. Its about 270 pages total.

I read three books this year which is the most I've read since probably grade school. I dont have any left now. I want to buy Jim Norton's book from last year I Hate Your Guts since I never picked it up so I'll do that eventually.
