Mass Effect: Revelations (Drew Karpyshyn) - Jan 5th

Seemed like we could use a thread like this in here. Reading is fun.

1-8-11 - "Black Tooth Grin: The High Life, Good Times and Tragic End of Dimebag Darrell Abbott" by Zac Crain

This was a really good book. Its not just about Dimebag's death but just a general biography of the guy. He was good at guitar from a very young age and just created his own style. He was a professional drinker too, getting drunk pretty much every single night of his adult life. I don't know how a person can function like that but he did it. Everyone had a story about drinking with Dimebag. And everyone always mentioned how he was very humble and hung out with fans and was the nicest guy. Just made it an even sadder ending. Great book though for any Pantera fans.

I'm reaching the halfway point now. Whenever I tell my friends where I'm at, they make faces and try to hide their excitement. Apparently awesome things are coming.

I can't stop thinking about it. The character development that happens in this book is amazing. Where characters were when you first met them, and where they are now is so crazy.

A bit slow an uninteresting at first, but I thoroughly enjoyed the latter half. Jaime becomes one of the most interesting characters of the series in this book. Now I just have to wait for the next one....

Also, I can't wait for one of you dudes to finish the books so I can share this essay I just read...

Finally finished this book over the weekend. It's a pretty good read. Entertaining while insightful. Every guy should give this a read. There aren't enough men in the world now a days. Just a sea of boys.

I disagree, real men acknowledges his weaknesses and works on them while the rest goes off pretending like they know what they're doing.

just finished the millenium series AKA the girl with the dragon tattoo books. it was a pretty good series and focuses on crimes against women. the main character, lisbeth salander, is pretty good and always interesting when she's up to something. the other main character, mickael blomkvist, is also very entertaining. i feel like the first book is its own thing in a way, and the second two are basically one big story that has little to do vanger storyline from the first one. i also found that all of them got a little slow in the middle. i felt like the wheels were just spinning a bit and kid of retreading old material over and over again. however, in the last quarter of each book always turned into a page turner.

im looking forward to the fincher adaption of the first book.

Working through more Star Wars books. New Jedi Order: Enemy Lines 1 and 2, plus about 5 others. Also read the newest Fate of the Jedi: Vortex. These damn books are taking up Kindle space.

Glad to see there's another Drew Karpyshyn fan. He wrote KOTOR for the X-Box.

I like this thread.

Pretty good shit for a fan of White Zombie. Its a bunch of tour diaries with photos and other stuff she has collected over the years. With short paragraphs describing each and other people contributed some stories. It really sheds some light on her relationship with Rob Zombie. He was pretty much a douche and didn't talk to anyone in the final years before the break up. Halfway through the book he just stopped appearing in photos altogether. During the tour for their last album, he had a separate bus to travel in and all that Lead Singer Syndrome type shit. Anyway, its a cool collection for a fan like myself.

I don't have dates but so far this year I've finished about half of Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series, World War Z, Rant (Palahniuk) and something else that I can't remember.

An interesting collection of memoirs and short stories. He basically walked away from TNG when he was still a kid for a lot of immature, egotistical reasons. Then he spent the next 10 years regretting it and struggling to get back into acting. There are some great stories about Patrick Stewart, Brent Spiner and J Frakes in there too. Theres plenty of non star trek related stuff in there too, just about his life and being a struggling ex-child actor in Hollywood.

A shorter story by George RR Martin that also takes place in Westeros. I think it takes place 89 years before the main series, and it follows a hedge knight seeking entrance into a tournament. There's a lot of the big families at the tournament that anyone that read the main series will recognize, namely the Targaryens. It was only 160 pages, but I liked it a lot. There's 2 more little books following the two main characters, but I'm not really sure how to get my hands on them...
