Harry-Potter-And-The-Deathly-Hallows-Part-2-Trailer-Free-Wallpaper-1

My DVD/Blu-Ray Pick
Rango

RangoGore Verbinski is most recently known for directing the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies. But he goes out a limb here and takes on an animated project. With Pixar and DreamWorks really monopolizing animated movies lately, it was good to see there was another choice. While I didn’t get a chance to see it, the reviews were great and there were lots of mentions of how adults could really get into it. Almost a darker, western setting for an animated movie. With voices by Johnny Depp, Isla Fisher and Timothy Olyphant. I look forward to checking it out now that its available on video.

My Theater Pick
Harry Potter

Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 2 – would you really expect me to pick anything else? The end of Harry Potter trumps all. It could be some people’s most anticipated summer movie of the year. Maybe even most anticipated movie of the year, period! Harry and Voldemort finally square off. Actually I have no idea because I didn’t read the books but the trailers sure make it like there will be some battles. They’ve even mentioned deaths in pretty much every trailer I’ve seen so I expect some Hogwarts students to kick the bucket this time around. Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson all return to finish up the series… and then what’s next for the now young adults?

Box Office Results
Transformers 3

The two new comedy releases could not defeat Michael Bay‘s Transformers 3 which rolled in another $47 million. Not really a surprise as big action movies always do better business than comedies in the summertime. Horrible Bosses was getting good reviews and managed to bring in $28 million and Zookeeper right behind that with $20 million. But Harry Potter will destroy all this upcoming weekend.

Also coming out in stores this week is The Lincoln Lawyer, Insidious, Arthur and Entourage Season 7.

Also coming out in theaters is a new animated Winnie the Pooh movie.

HORRIBLE BOSSES

My DVD/Blu-Ray Pick
Hobo with a Shotgun

Hobo with a Shotgun – are you a fan of grindhouse type B-movies? Excessive violence? Gore? Well then this is the movie for you. It kind of has a cool story of how it became made. When the Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez Grindhouse movie came out, they started a contest for fans to make fake trailers. The best one would win a spot in front of the Canadian theater release of Grindhouse. Hobo with a Shotgun won and got the spot but then was also made into a feature length film much like Rodriguez’s Machete. Rutger Hauer plays a nameless homeless man who lives in an almost post-apocalyptic city where crime is running rampant. He has enough of the nonsense and takes matters into his own hands. And so completely ridiculous gore and violence takes place for 80 minutes. If that’s your thing then check it out.

My Theater Pick
Horrible Bosses

Horrible Bosses – this movie has a lot of NAME going for it, but can it deliver the comedy goods? Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day are three guys who have pretty shitty bosses. Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell and Jennifer Aniston play those bosses. So they enlist the services of a murder consultant (Jamie Foxx) to see if they can go through with the dirty deed on each of them. Like I said, its got a lot of funny people involved, and even some pretty funny looking roles for generally serious actors. But is it too good to be true? The trailers make it look pretty funny and I think Charlie Day has a chance to stand out like Zach Galifianakis did in The Hangover. I’m anxious to see it this weekend and hope it turns out great. I’ve been in need of a really funny movie since there’s only been a couple good ones this year. Its directed by the guy who did The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters, which isn’t saying much since that’s a documentary. He hasn’t directed anything since his first feature film, 2008’s Four Christmases, so lets hope he can do better than that.

Transformers 3

No surprise here. Transformers 3 took the #1 spot BREAKING the holiday weekend record with $97.5 million. Good God Almighty, thats a lotta hooch! Michael Bay is a cash machine once again. Does this mean Transformers 4? Probably, although Bay said he is done and so is Shia LaBeouf. So we’ll have to wait and see what becomes of the cherished (haha) franchise.

Also coming out in stores this week is BloodRayne: The Third Reich, The PJs Season 2 and Boy Meets World Season 6.

Also coming out in theaters is Zookeeper with Kevin James talking to animals.

My DVD/Blu-Ray Pick
Sucker Punch

Sucker Punch – why am I picking this? Well I don’t really know. I kind of want more people to see it so I can get their reactions. I was overwhelmingly letdown by a premise that I thought could be really cool. And a style that looked so unique. Sucker Punch is not a musical, but music plays a major role. Its hard to explain but the basic theme is a young girl is in the looney bin after she attacks her abusive stepfather. While in there she entertains the men by dancing, but when she dances a dream-like sequence is shown where her and her friends are battling samurais, dragons and creatures. Its really weird. I wish it would have worked out better for director Zack Snyder but it was just a mess. Still, everyone should see it and comment with their own thoughts. At least there’s scantily clad women to stare at.

My Theater Pick
Transformers 3

Transformers: Dark of the Moon – sick of Michael Bay‘s Transformer movies? Did you absolutely hate the 2nd one? The 1st one too? Well a little bit of a bright spot is the early buzz around the new movie. A much talked about insanely awesome final scene mixed with 3D that would give Avatar a run for its money. I can honestly say that it gets me a little excited. If the cheesiness is cut back a few notches then I will be a happy man. But I didn’t hate the previous movies, just thought they could have been a lot better. This time around we take a look back at the 1960s when a spacecraft landed on the moon. Apparently our moon landing’s real purpose was to investigate this occurrence. Now in the present time, the Autobots need to learn about this spacecraft to finish their battle with the Decepticons. And no Megan Fox this time around, Shia LeBeouf has found a new love interest in Rosie Huntington-Whitely.

Box Office Results
Cars 2

Cars 2 may have been getting smashed by critics but it still gave Pixar another #1 movie to add to their resume with $68 million taken in. Impressive but not groundbreaking. Bad Teacher actually made way more than I expected with $31 million. Thats a lot of money between the 2 new releases, just about $100 million. I’m sure Transformers will get close to that in its extended opening weekend.

Also coming out in stores this week is Barney’s Version, Beastly, Season of the Witch and The Warrior’s Way.

Also coming out in theaters is Larry Crowne starring Tom Hanks, who also co-wrote and directed. Also Monte Carlo about Selena Gomez on vacation with her friends when she’s mistaken for a British heiress.

Shamoozal Radio Podcast #37 – Judgment Day Brokedance

srp_jazz_dead

I had a bunch of text written for this and somehow I ended up erasing it before posting it! I don’t really get what I did there, but I did it. Anyway, it’s been a long while since we had a podcast. The gang got together last weekend and we put together this episode which features our yearly Summer Movie Preview (in which we sort of hate on most of the choices this year), play a game about surviving what was supposed to be a post apocalyptic world, and in our Final Thoughts hit topics like the death of Macho Man Randy Savage, LA Noire, and the cancellation of such great shows like The Event.

Transformers Need Love Too

seaspray_featured

Powerglide is in love

The Hub is sort of my new favorite channel. Every night they air old episodes of the Adam West Batman series, G.I. Joe, and Transformers. I have the DVR set to record all of them every night, but lately my focus has been on Transformers. Back in the day I used to watch my fair share of Transformers, but I barely remember anything about them, so watching them again has been really fun in seeing just how ridiculous they are. It’s now into Season 2 of the show, which is actually very different from the first season in which Optimus Prime and his pals just fought Megatron over energon cubes all day. Season 2 episodes seem to focus on a single autobot at a time, and many times Optimus doesn’t even do anything other than issue particular bots to go help out with whatever the main bot is dealing with. These episodes have been my favorite so far because the ideas are just bat shit insane.

One trend I’ve noticed is that so far there have been many episodes about autobots being in love. One of the first “love” episodes actually dealt with Optimus Prime going back to Cybertron to save his lost love, which while goofy was somewhat acceptable compared to what I’m about to show you. In the episodes I want to talk about, the autobots fall in love with human women, and they in turn love the autobots right back. It’s weird. Like, really freaking weird.

In the episode “The Girl Who Loved Powerglide,” Powerglide rescues a bratty billionaire, Astoria, from a Decepticon attack during her birthday party. Despite spending most of the episode arguing (and Powerglide actually throwing her around like a rag doll) the two fall in love with each other. While Astoria has no problem admitting she loves Powerglide, he sort of keeps it to himself and has a special moment by himself at the end of the episode.

Next is the episode “Sea Change” in which the Decepticons are attacking a bunch of people on another planet and Optimus sends Seaspray a few others to go rescue them. This whole episode is just freaking out there in general, so it makes everything that much more insane. At the start of the episode Seaspray wishes upon a star and we quickly find out he was wishing for true love because when he sees one of the women that’s under attack he falls for her right away. She apparently falls in love with him quickly too, weird bubble voice and all. The fun part is when the humans jump into a magical lake that turns them into Mermaids. Seaspray wants to jump in, but because he’s a robot he’s not allowed to. Eventually though, he does jump in and he too becomes a mermaid. So while he’s swimming around with his love, they decide the best way to fight back is to become robots, so now he’s back to normal and now she’s a Transformer. After they chase Megatron off the planet (and trick Rumble into turning into a tree) she goes back to being a human. Seaspray is upset over the transformation, but the girl tells him it doesn’t matter how they look on the outside but feel on the inside. They then ride away into the night, and Bumblebee, all choked up, also wishes upon a star.

I seriously love that. It killed me when he transforms while hugging her and she yells as they ride off into the sunset.

But yeah, this show is just full of all sorts of weird shit like this. While unrelated to love, I was watching one last night where Optimus Prime was being hunted by a game hunter and his butler. Together the two of them captured like 7 autobots and were torturing them at the guys hideout. I thought to myself “how did this guy capture and defeat more Autobots than the Decepticons ever could?” The best part is, we see Megatron and Starscream seeing what’s going on and Starscream says that exact same thing to Megatron, which of course earns him a punch to the jaw. Meanwhile Optimus Prime is at the dude’s secret base and this happens.

Oh god I love it.

Cartoon Boobs of the 1980’s – A Retrospective

Cheetara from Thundercats

Cheetara bare-breasted

Update 1-18-2011: Our Google Analytics has revealed that this is still a pretty popular article, even though I wrote it nearly 3 years ago. However, for whatever reason Photobucket deleted all the images I originally used for it. So I’ve gone back and done some image searches, re-uploaded them to our servers and re-embedded them in the article. Some of the content had to change because I just couldn’t find all the same images. Anyway, break out your hand-lotion and enjoy… -Steve

I’m a heterosexual male and I like boobs. Theres been a lot of politically-correct propaganda getting tossed around out there that might make you feel guilty or ashamed for making a statement like that. However, I feel totally justified in this feeling… its a part of who I am. Thinking back to my childhood, I remember some of my first exposure to ‘mammarous gigantus’ being in the form of cartoon breasts on various afternoon television shows. The time from 3-5 PM was a magical time. It was time to turn the lights down low, light a candle, lock the door and tune in to some hot cartoon boob action.

After a quick stroll through memory lane and a few strategically placed google image searches I have compiled some of the cartoon chesticles that hold a special place in my mind. Journey with me back through the 1980’s as we take a look at some of the cartoon T (and a little bit of A) that I hold near and dear…

Cheetara – Thundercats (1985 – 1989)

Also pictured above, Cheetara was the only female Thundercat and thus had to be even sexier to counteract all the cat-dudes running around.

Cheetara from Thundercats

Teela – He-man (1983-1984)

Now, apparently Teela must have spent most of her screen time in varying states of bondage. Almost every image gallery I found of her had her tied up which is making me re-evaluate the reason for some of my preferences later in life. Anyway, here she is…

The Sorceress – He-man

Wearing mostly skin-tight outfits and knee-high boots, the Sorceress was always a crowd pleaser for 8 year old boys.

Evil-lyn – He-man

Now, Evil-lyn may be the best so far because not only was she dressed in a sexy outfit with large breasts… but she was also one of the bad guys. This made her even more enticing to the mind of a pre-puber because you were supposed to root against her and yet… wouldn’t it be cool if those monsters accidentally came unleashed?

Princess Allura – Voltron (1984 – 1985)

Before you spoiled brats in the 90’s had the pink ranger, us hard-knox mawfuckas had the ripe and beautiful Princess Allura of Team Lion. Now Voltron, along with Star Blazers was my first exposure to the shenanigans that go on over in the land of the rising sun. They’ve made the art of animating a pair of breasts comparable to painting God on the ceiling of a chapel in Italy. Allura even has a few shots where shes prancing around in a pink bikini, which lands her on my list of cartoon boobs.

Scarlett – G.I. JOE (1985 – 1986)

G.I. Joe had what many consider to be the holy trinity of cartoon babes: Scarlett, Lady Jaye and The Baroness. For the purpose of this little… whatever it is, I’ll stick with Scarlett. Now, we have a live action G.I. Joe movie on the way and the pictures of Scarlett in the skin-tight black armor look pretty hot. That said, I’ll always prefer the look of her outfit on the cartoon series.

She-Ra – She-Ra: Princess of Power (1985 – 1987)

She-Ra was He-man’s twin sister… or something. She also wore a short miniskirt and had her massive cleavage stuffed into an armer chest-piece. I couldn’t tell you one thing that happened during the She-Ra TV series and yet I’m confident i watched every episode.

Arcee – Transformers (1984-1987)

Okay, I know… this one might be a little bit of a stretch. However, when Arcee first hit the screen in Transformers: The Movie i’d be willing to wager there were many tents being pitched in that movie theater. It was a breath of fresh air to see a robot with some curves. I mean, come on… Cybertron was starting to look like a total sausage fest. I couldnt find a decent shot from the show, so heres a nice one from the manga.

So I’m going to wrap this nerdlog post up now, I hope you’ve enjoyed the trip down memory lane. This is in no way meant to be a comprehensive guide to cartoon boobs from 80’s shows. I’m sure there were plenty of ladies that I overlooked. Feel free to contribute your personal favorites in the discussion…
