Sunny Day Real Estate is and always will be one of my favorite bands. This song is off of their final studio album “The Rising Tide” and really shows how their style evolved. SDRE came onto the scene in the early-mid 90’s when most of the Hardcore/Punk scene was dominated by the Revelation Records and Victory Records style. Somehow this band struck a chord with that audience and became the blue-print for many ‘emo’ bands that followed them. Emo has a nasty stigma attached to it these days, but back in 1994 it just meant “Hardcore music with melodic vocals”.
