My DVD/Blu-Ray Pick
Sucker Punch

Sucker Punch – why am I picking this? Well I don’t really know. I kind of want more people to see it so I can get their reactions. I was overwhelmingly letdown by a premise that I thought could be really cool. And a style that looked so unique. Sucker Punch is not a musical, but music plays a major role. Its hard to explain but the basic theme is a young girl is in the looney bin after she attacks her abusive stepfather. While in there she entertains the men by dancing, but when she dances a dream-like sequence is shown where her and her friends are battling samurais, dragons and creatures. Its really weird. I wish it would have worked out better for director Zack Snyder but it was just a mess. Still, everyone should see it and comment with their own thoughts. At least there’s scantily clad women to stare at.

My Theater Pick
Transformers 3

Transformers: Dark of the Moon – sick of Michael Bay‘s Transformer movies? Did you absolutely hate the 2nd one? The 1st one too? Well a little bit of a bright spot is the early buzz around the new movie. A much talked about insanely awesome final scene mixed with 3D that would give Avatar a run for its money. I can honestly say that it gets me a little excited. If the cheesiness is cut back a few notches then I will be a happy man. But I didn’t hate the previous movies, just thought they could have been a lot better. This time around we take a look back at the 1960s when a spacecraft landed on the moon. Apparently our moon landing’s real purpose was to investigate this occurrence. Now in the present time, the Autobots need to learn about this spacecraft to finish their battle with the Decepticons. And no Megan Fox this time around, Shia LeBeouf has found a new love interest in Rosie Huntington-Whitely.

Box Office Results
Cars 2

Cars 2 may have been getting smashed by critics but it still gave Pixar another #1 movie to add to their resume with $68 million taken in. Impressive but not groundbreaking. Bad Teacher actually made way more than I expected with $31 million. Thats a lot of money between the 2 new releases, just about $100 million. I’m sure Transformers will get close to that in its extended opening weekend.

Also coming out in stores this week is Barney’s Version, Beastly, Season of the Witch and The Warrior’s Way.

Also coming out in theaters is Larry Crowne starring Tom Hanks, who also co-wrote and directed. Also Monte Carlo about Selena Gomez on vacation with her friends when she’s mistaken for a British heiress.
