Episode Update

I think its a good idea to use the Nerdlog a bit more to keep everyone updated with the current status of the new episode. In the last podcast, I mentioned that we were about 30% done. That was slightly misleading I suppose. The original idea grew and took on more material (which I think will be pretty darned good if I say so myself). So we have about one minute of final animation done at this point, but we got a bunch of new stuff to get in there.

We have the new short all storyboarded out, and an animatic is cut with the dialog in place. Again, an animatic is basically the entire short timed out to the length of its final run-time. Watching it in this stage gives us a good idea of what the final picture is going to look like. As of right now, it has a run-time of 4.5 minutes. That’s about on par with “Ninja”. However, that isn’t taking the titles into account, and even now I can tell that its going to need some trimming. Some of the shots run a bit too long. However, its ready for animation to begin on it which I plan on doing tomorrow night. The new episode has alot less drawn aspects to it and more puppeting. Plus, both Phil and myself will be animating on it at the same time, so hopefully it’ll be done in the next few weeks.

Tonight, I spent some time prepping some images that Jim is going to make into a new t-shirt design staring our good friend, Man-Bot. Look for them soon. Or later. You guys know how we roll around here. Bloop!

Whore Daddy: Don’t Make Steve Mad!

Wow, I wasn’t on the Smorgas Board all day, I come home to check it out and see that someone totally sent Steve over the edge. Come on guys, support the cause, spread the love!

“You know, diggnation, this week in tech, 1up yours, all these podcasts have one thing in common… thousands and thousands of listeners.

Shamoozal Radio Podcast? Not so much, but we’re trying.

Those guys put out an episode and it’s gonna get dugg right to the front page of the Digg Podcast section. They also have corporate sponsors helping them out, but that’s neither here nor there.

Now maybe I shouldn’t care as much as I do, but usually once a day I check our digg page to see if any new people have thrown us a proverbial bone aka a “digg”.

Yesterday, I noticed we had 9 , and I thought to myself “Wow, one more and we might get put in the sidebar of ‘upcoming podcasts'”. That could lead to new people being exposed to the show, and exposed to the cartoon, and becoming part of the Shamoozal community that Phil has been trying to get off the ground.

Now, I’ve kind of let it go that we’re getting like 2-3 diggs on our blog posts (and usually 2 of them are me and phil), and I didn’t take it personally that we only had 9 diggs for the podcast when there’s like 15-20 people on here posting regularly. 9 Diggs is still 9 diggs, and hey for a small start-up podcast with little following, I’ll take what we can get with a smile and a “Thanks for listening”.

So imagine my dismay and surprise when I go to check out our diggs today and find that we now only have 8 for the podcast. Now, I know a thing or 2 about a thing or 2 when it comes to digg. I know that to remove a digg you have to deliberately log in and undigg the story/podcast/video.

So my question is, why?

Why did you do this to us?

Did we hurt your feelings when we said that Macs are garbage?

Do you have a hard-on for George Lucas’ fat-ass daughter and take offense to the idea of her deep-throating a Quizno’s sub?

Please help me to understand what it was that compelled you to log in on the digg site, go to your profile page and click ‘undigg’ next to our podcast. Because to be honest, I’m at a bit of a loss.

We’re trying to spread the word about Shamoozal kids, be it through the podcast or the nerdlog or whatever, the goal is getting Grey and Jacquo out there to the internet masses.”

After embarrassing Steve, and all joking aside, I do believe in our content. Word is starting to get out and there’s an increase in traffic. I think it’s only a matter of time before things catch on. Shamoozal is a word you won’t soon forget.

Gearing up for the next episode

Story Board Panel

Last night Frank and I went over to Joe’s place to record some additional dialogue for the next episode. Originally, we thought this was going to be a quick one, but it has turned into much more. I can safely say that this will be our longest episode yet. In fact, we have more than twice the dialogue in this episode than we have in any other one. If everything goes well, this episode should be ready to roll within the next few weeks. Until then, enjoy the image from the storyboard.

Shamoozal website updates

Hey, did you notice that there aren’t many sections up at the top anymore? Yeah, we decided to clean up the site a little bit and even freshen up all of the pages. What you’ll find is a site that finally works as one cohesive whole. As a refresher, here is how everything is laid out.

“What’s New” brings you to the Nerdlog, as does the “Shamoozal” logo in the banner. The ‘Sodes’ are now called ‘Episodes’ and you can find all of your favorites in there with a new handy bar that lets you pick through them no matter which one you’re watching. The Smorg hasn’t change, and the Podcast section now features all of the podcasts to choose from. The “shop” is a bit of a merger between the Cafepress store and the music store. Finally, contact and legal info have been combined into one.

We’re thrilled with the new changes and look for the site, and hopefully everyone else will be too.

Shamoozal Radio #05

8-Bit Music Trivia Banner

It’s time for Shamoozal Radio #05, and we hope you’re ready for nearly an hour and a half of news, banter, trivia, and everything else we managed to cram into the show. We kick off with our Shamoozal News segment and learn a bit more about the Nerdlog straight from the horses mouth, and also read some “feed back” from Ninja, along with a few hints at the next Shamoozal cartoon and even an announcement for the return of another Shamoozal series.

Then the crew looks back at the last game console generation and picks out their favorites, along with some listener feedback. After that, tune those ears in for our 8-Bit Music Trivia segment hosted by yours truly. If you grew up in the era, you’ll be sure to enjoy it, as I promise nothing but pure NES nostalgia.

After that, it’s pretty much on as we go through some “Nerd News” and rant and rave about our own personal “Whore Daddies” for this edition of the podcast.

Welcome to the ‘Nerdlog’

After months of consideration and a few weeks of time in development, the Shamoozal blog is ready for display, and I couldn’t be happier.

Over a year ago, started out strictly as a cartoon based website that played host to the Shamoozal series. Introducing the podcast back in May was the first time we broke out of that mold. We weren’t exactly sure how it was going to blow over, but things went fairly well. Our community on our forums, the Smorgas Board, has been becoming increasingly active in the passing months. It is only natural that the site grows just a tiny bit more, and the result is this shiny new blog.

Now in addition to working on our cartoons, this feature allows us to serve up all sorts of different extravagant dishes on a more regular basis. If you’re a fan of Shamoozal Radio, you’ll be pleased to know that everyone on the team will be taking part in contributing to this blog. That means you’ll be seeing regular updates from Steve, Frank, Joe, Jim, yours truly, and maybe even the General. You’ll also be happy to hear that we’ll have our 5th podcast available within the next few days. That being said, enjoy the ride!
