A Presidential assassin.
The remake of classic movies.
A stupid sheriff.
A high school therapist.
Those are the themes of this week’s releases. Let’s enjoy!

Vantage Point
Quaid trying his best Harrison Ford impression.

Vantage Point – The President (William Hurt) is shot while giving a speech in front of a large crowd. The movie involves the point of view of five different people to see if the assassin can be found. Also starring Dennis Quaid, Matthew Fox, Forest Whitaker, Sigourney Weaver, and more.

Be Kind Rewind
That sure isn’t Peter Weller.

Be Kind Rewind – Mos Def works at a video store. His buddy (Jack Black) erases every tape in the store due to magnetization on him. One of their loyal renters is an old woman. They don’t want to let her down so they start recreating every movie in the store and gain a cult following. Directed by Michel Gondry.

Witless Protection
How does he keep making movies where he plays himself?

Witless Protection – Larry the Cable Guy is a stupid sheriff who thinks he is rescuing a woman (Ivana Milisevic) who was kidnapped. But really she is the star witness for an upcoming trial. So now Larry must protect himself and her from the dudes out to kill them. Jenny McCarthy also stars.

Charlie Bartlett
Long delayed but finally some Bartlett. Yay?

Charlie Bartlett – Charlie doesn’t fit in at his high school until he starts secretly counseling all the students through a bathroom stall while giving them his own prescriptions he gets from his own therapist. Robert Downey Jr. also stars.

In limited released is the horror film entitled The Signal where a weird transmission comes through every cell phone, radio, and TV and turns normal people into killers.

Vantage Point looks interesting. Could have a cool story with a cool ending.
Be Kind Rewind could be really funny. And Michel Gondry made Eternal Sunshine so we could see some visual elements in this one at least.
