Milt Kahl kicks ass.

In case you didn’t know, Milt was one of the Disney’s “Nine Old Men”. He was one of the major influences at the studio when it was cranking out some of the best animated features ever known. Milt had a reputation of being a mean son of a bitch, but that was because he set such high standards that even he himself failed to live up to them in his own eyes. Watch any of his interviews and you’ll see what I mean. Still, he is considered one of the best animators that ever walked the halls at Disney’s, and he animated an amazing amount of memorable characters. I get psyched when I see Milt’s pencil test. They’re so damned tight.

Here’s Medusa from “The Rescuers”. Its awesome.

LOST RETURNS TONIGHT!!!

LOSTTonight marks the return of one of the greatest television shows of all time, Lost. It has been on hiatus for 8 months. EIGHT STINKIN MONTHS! That’s longer than my other favorite show, 24, takes a break. Anyway, most of the world knows there’s a writer’s strike STILL going on so all script writing has come to a halt. Most shows were seriously affected by this and could not complete filming full seasons. Last year Lost announced they set a date when the series would end. The plan was for 3 more 16-episode seasons. 2008 was supposed to bring us the first of those three final seasons. Well that was ruined by the strike. Now the fans only get 8 episodes in Season 4. But for diehard Lost fans like myself, its still better than nothing.

So what’s the point of this? Nothing really.
I’m just extremely pumped to see new episodes of Lost. Last year’s season finale might have been the greatest plot twist of any television show I have ever seen. I’ll just go out a limb and say it was the best season finale OF ALL TIME!! It totally opened the door for millions of new stories and possibilities with the characters. Dr. Jack Shepherd is determined to save these people. He’s obsessed with it. I don’t care if they reveal 50 more unanswered questions because I’m just along for the ride. I know all will be answered in years to come. Tonight at 8PM EST on ABC we get a total series recap. Then at 9PM EST we find out the next chapter in the Survivors’ story.

Hey, where’d podcast #12 go?

quiz_kidWe like, totally recorded Shamoozal Radio #12… didn’t we? Yeah, the few of you loyal listeners who tuned in heard all of the madness, but because of the way everything went with scheduling and timing, it was brushed off. To be honest, because of all the work we did to wrap up “Rated M for Molester”, and my recent house closing process and everything that followed, I completely forgot that I had to sit down with Joe and edit SRP#12. Expect it sometime during the weekend, sorry about the delay there folks.

For those who missed, here is what you have to look forward to: All the new GFG/Shamoozal info with a bit more insight, thoughts on Rambo, Cloverfield, No More Heroes, Endless Ocean, Jim’s guess the Youtube clip challenge, and a bunch of Whore Daddies.

Lately we’ve been doing a lot of teasing on the site, and now it’s time to finally lay all the cards on the table. You have seen the new character designs and heard us talk about the new direction. If you tuned into the live recording of Shamoozal Radio #12 last night (which will be made available to download sometime within the next week) then you heard us spill our guts on the direction we’re taking. Missed out? No sweat, as I’m willing to divulge all the info.

Before you read any further, let it be known that you can catch the latest cartoon, “Rated M for Molester” over in the episode section. Now that you’re back, you know that these new shorts are going under the banner Shamoozal: GFGames. We always knew Grey worked a retail job, but it was never clear where he actually worked, and putting him in the fictional GFGames (basically Gamestop or EBGames) seemed like a natural fit for the character. As you can see, like we said before, we’re looking to crank out episodes quicker than last time with a heavy influence on video game culture. We still want to make the cartoons entertaining to people who aren’t particularly into games.

Impressions: The Club (Demo)

The Club

The Club is one of those games that I heard about here and there, but I never actually bothered to read up on it. I saw some of the art from the game, a couple screen grabs, and the logo. I immediately thought that this was not a game that would appeal to me which is why I chose not to learn anything about it. Well, a demo of the game hit both Xbox Live and PSN this week, so while downloading the Devil May Cry 4 demo, I decided to throw this into the download list as well. It sat there, ready to be installed, until this morning when I finally got around to checking it out.

This game is like someone has answered one of my small gaming prayers. I am a huge fan of the Mercenaries mini-game included in Resident Evil 4, and I always thought Capcom was foolish not to expand on this game (side note: I guess Mercenaries is actually is an expansion of PN03 in a way). There is just something about racing against the clock and trying to get as many chains, multipliers and bonuses that make for completely addicting gameplay. I guess I wasn’t the only fan of this mode, because Bizarre Creations (the Geometry Wars dudes) have essentially created an entire game that shares a lot in common with Mercenaries.

Early Impressions: Endless Ocean (Wii)

For the sake of this article, let’s pretend that there are essentially two different types of games published by Nintendo. The first type, the flagship titles, includes games like Super Mario Brothers, Metroid, Zelda, and Pokeman. The second type is a little harder to define, but I would say it includes games like Animal Crossing, Brain Age, Nintendogs and now… Endless Ocean. I’m not really sure if you can score Endless Ocean like a normal game. Sure it has objectives and collectible items, but the absence of any sort of penalty and heavy emphasis on slowly exploring the environments makes it feel more like an immersive experience rather than a traditional game. The thing I noticed from the moment I started entering my name was that Endless Ocean has that unmistakable Nintendo charm. The music, the humorous instructions… it just feels comfortable.

Before I dive into this article (I promise that’s the last swimming euphemism I’ll make during this thing) I’d like to state my usual disclaimer: I am not a professional game reviewer and these are only my early impressions of the game. As of now I have spent roughly two hours getting into the game, hardly enough to make any sort of formal review. If an X out of 10 score is what you’re looking for, you’d do much better to head over to some other site. This is just me, an average gamer, talking about the game so far. I’ll also say this before the jump: Endless Ocean has absolutely no combat, you move very slow and you spend most of the time looking at things. If that didn’t scare you off, hit the jump for more.

Here’s a clip from a 1988 episode of Inside Edition about Nintendo and the Super Mario craze. It’s a great look back at a simpler time in gaming, nad some of the hair is simply… amazing. Thanks to Youtube user danny08 for posting this.
