I just made up the whole Shamoozal Warehouse bit. I guess you can say this is where most of the magic happens. So my brand spankin’ new Cintiq showed up today and of course I set it up as quickly as humanly possible. Setup actually took a bit more work than I thought, and a bit of managing to get all 500 wires in a decent spot.
Not shown in the above is the giant converter switch box that powers the Cintiq. In the commercial for the Cintiq, they showed a woman walking around with it as if the device is super portable. What they didn’t show you is that a lot of effort goes into connecting this thing, and hauling it around would probably be a pain in the ass. Anyway, the pad is bigger than my old Intuos 6×8 which is cool and sort of sucks at the same time because the space on my desk is starting to disappear as I add more gizmos to my set up. It’s only slightly thicker than my Intuos, which is pretty impressive, and I’d say it’s only a tad bit heavier as well.
It basically acts as a second monitor when everything is all ready to go. Like having a second monitor, you can drag objects to either screen. However, when you’re using the Cintiq to, you know, actually draw with, there’s a handy toggle switch located on the top of the button layout. Using this switch will flick your cursor to either screen without you actually having to drag stuff. For example, say you open an object in Photoshop, if you click the bar to drag, just hit the toggle switch and it’ll automatically place the image on the Cintiq screen. Pretty nifty I thought.
